Great video and driving, Mike. One of the things I like so much about your videos is the effort you put into them. Some people just cut and paste, and while their efforts are still appreciated, they don’t put anywhere close to the efforts you do in your videos. I say that not to disparage them, but to compliment you on the work you do.
I did my school there in 2016 just after I bought my Z06 so I was almost 51 yrs old. I finished #2 behind a younger man who was leaps and bounds beyond me on the track. I don’t think people realize the wear and tear on your body as you get thrown around the track, and I could certainly feel it after a couple of days. I flew supersonic jets in the military when I was younger and operated in the 8G+ range. Though there is no comparison, they do have one thing in common. It is a younger man’s game. 😱. I will go back when I get my C8. We didn’t get to do launch control when I was there…just got to see a demo. Hopefully it will still be in the syllabus when I go. Thanks Mike.
Thank you Doug, I hugely appreciate your kind words and support as always! I 100% take that as a complement Doug. That’s awesome that you flew jets, thank you for your service. It sure isn’t a young mans game, I wasn’t as sore though as I thought I may be. You’ll love the C8 school when you go. 👍😊👊
@@BrinkofSpeed cause your not that old Mike come on. Was neighbor Mark there too?
@@BrinkofSpeed Thanks Mike. 👍💪👊🏻
It looks like a great experience glad you do with Clarence great guy
It was an amazing experience and even better with Clarence there.
I just attended the Ron Fellows Corvette driving school in the first week of November. What a blast the two days were. I learned a lot about road racing techniques and the capabilities of the C8. The C8 is so well engineered and technology loaded it makes a 'bad' driver look good and a 'good' driver great!
Just got done yesterday at the school. It was an absolute blast. Learned so much about the car. You run them as fast as you possible can. It's way more fun to abuse someone else's car. Going to do some gokarting to improve my track line and cornering. Video is spot on. I stayed at the resort too. The rooms are beautiful.
Mike I believe it was 2014 when I went to Ron Fellows. I had a 2007 C6 It was after that class I decided to get a C7. Three day school and we stayed at the track in condos. On day three we had open track with no instructors to follow. Trust me it was a total different feeling not having that instruction in your ear. You drive what you owned so I was in a manual going against owners who had Z06 automatic’s. Great memories I highly recommend anyone to make this happen!
We set QuickTime at the autocross and lapped within a few tenths of ride along. Years in go carts and motorcycles growing up. All about car control and feel with technique. Beat the guy with Ferrari driving shoes lol in my dad white New Balances, lol. Looking forward to level 2 class with my 2022.
I was up there in June and on the same track, but wow, 111 in that straightaway, yellow squirrelly icons coming out of the turns, airborne mid-track and that 1:22:28 ... you did a smokin excellent ET. Thought you might get into the teens but maybe in part 2!!!
That track was a blast for sure. One of the pictures actually shows a tiny bit of air under the front tires. Did you love the school as much as I did?
@@BrinkofSpeed Absolutely loved every minute of it. I got a '21 C8 last year and took advantage of Chevrolet's Ron Fellows invitation. I'm planning on doing it again next year. It's just a fantastic experience. Even my wife got to take a passenger seat on the track with the instructor and had a blast. Thanks for sharing your experience ... well done.
My. Wife and I both recently completed this course…it was fantastic and I agree, if you own a C8 you need to attend this course. It will make you a better driver 100%
Awesome, I’m sure you guys had a blast! It sure will, and will keep you more safe while driving your C8. 😊👍
Always late adding to the throttle when hitting apex and exiting. You catch the instructor because he lets you and then he is already out of the turn running away from you while you are waiting to apply more throttle.
Just got my HSG C8.R coupe back in November, and I am looking forward to going to Ron Fellows early next year for the course! Thanks for this video, @Brink of Speed!
Looks like you are moving! The PDR playback doesn't reflex how fast it feels like you are going. I'm all set for February 10th. Can't wait to try this, especially with someone else's car.
Did this! It was awesome! GM gives you a discount too!
I so wish I took advantage of that when i bought my 2019 vette
Mike Nice video It was nice meeting you at Spring Mountain Love your videos
That's anther amazing Ladies and gentlemen moment. I already watched day 1 video more than ten times for sure. I might be wrong but the instructor does quicker corner exits ? The distance between the instructor and you seems to get wider after corners.
Thanks! Wow, I’m happy you enjoyed this. For sure, he’s beating me in a lot of places.
@@BrinkofSpeed Yeah, the day 1 video and this day 2 video are so educational on the track. I'll keep watching both of them until I go there sometime next year. Thank you for great Ladies and gentlemen moments.
I think you did good!!!!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
If your tires aren’t squealing you ain’t driving hard enough LOL
For some strange reason you don't answer any of my inputted questions or suggestions so way should be interested in your website
Wait a minute, you get to go to a Driving School and get to use someone else’s car?
LOL I know the drill!!! Just Kidding
Great experience to prep a person to handle a “Literal Supercar”.
After all, the C8 is now going to a large number of people taking ownership of a vehicle which might be their first Corvette with such horsepower they probably have never had before in their possession.
They need the exposure, education and understanding of just how fast such a vehicle can get away from them and hope not to injure and/or kill themselves, family, friends, innocent people and first responders.
I grew up in the 1970s in the “old Muscle Car Era” when 0 to 60 was fast in 6 seconds. The C8 as we know, is capable to do that in less than half the time!!!
IMO, I never thought we would return to high horsepower days, but from year to year the horsepower has been increasing, and the WARNING is now out there. Going back to the mid-1970s, GAS PRICES WENT UP, (odd/even system was in effect with long lines at the pumps and limits on how many gallons you could purchase). You also have an administration and Democrats in power that want to “Go Green” and eliminate fossil fuels and go to electric vehicles. If the insurance companies get on board, look out!!! The days of the high horsepower gasoline powered vehicle will be doomed again!!! You’ll need to have piped in and out exhaust apps with your Tesla or E-Ray Corvette.
Again IMO, purchase and enjoy the vehicles while you can. I like the sound of that dual exhaust, although my hearing I think was lost to some extent by my 8 Track Tape Player and Mindblower Speakers while cruising the streets.
(I didn’t smoke, but with that tape deck, you always carried a book or two of matches.). 😁 That was high tech. A lot of people are using Google to ask what is an 8 Track Tape Player? And, what was the book of matches for?
Wow, looks like you were up at the crack of dawn. Sleep much?😉 Oh Jeeze Louise! First thing in teh morning you're hang''n out with a guy from the hood!? You gotta what dem Hoodie's guys. They can be dangerous on the track!🤣
So, this is Day Two,
with more learning for you!
Time to decide,
which C8 is your ride! 😁
Boy, I should be a poet. Now, let me say this about that. Your time on the track was fascinating to say the least. After a couple of watches, I did have to take two Dramamine. Whoa! I think I'd be better if I was in the car! I know I would.😉 What did you have strapped to you around the back of the neck, high on the shoulders. At first, I thought maybe a Hans Device, but obviously it wasn't.
So, after giving you my full attention and popping Dramamine while you're driving for 15:59, what appears on the screen!? "To be continued . . . . ." You've got to be kidding!😩 I want more and I WNAT IT NOW! I ain't get'n any younger you know!😉
Thanks for the ride along Mike and I'm getting ready for the next upload as soon as I sign off. Save the Wave👋
To hell with the cones. They need to have lines between each cone
