  • In September 2018 Victoria and I filmed a video comparing the Yamaha XT250 and WR250R. The next day, on her way home, she was hit head-on by a car. Both Victoria, and her bike, XT Momo, have had a long recovery...but are back. This is their story.

    Having had a front row seat to that event I have to say your description of the accident fails to do justice to how violent it was. I am still surprised that you didn’t suffer worse injuries.

      Thankful you were there that day Alex - right behind me. I still remember you looking down at me asking 'How you doing??' You got me laughing, despite the seriousness of the matter.

    I'm just glad that you survived and are still mobile. After that last video some years ago, I've always wondered what had happened.

    XT Momo is one very handsome bike and thank God you're back on your feet. You had us all a bit concerned but look at you now. Time to get back on that horse and ride thru. ps. You will get used to the pain over time and build some mighty resistance to it. Been there and still doing it at 65 yrs. old.

    Hi, I was wondering how fast Victoria was going when she got hit. Good to see she is ok.

    • @DualsportChic
      @DualsportChic 3 года назад +1

      Approximately 25 mph and estimate the car that hit me was coming down the hill at approximately 35. 60 mph combined impact which threw me 25 feet over the car.

    Hi Victoria, I was wondering do you no if there is a big different from the carb xt250 and the fuel injection xt250. The reason I'm asking is I can get a very clean 2009 xt250 5000 km on it. Thanks Russ

      Other than the obvious mechanical differences, performance seems the same between my 08 and my 13 model. As long as you don’t let ethanol gas sit in the tank when storing the bike, and keep the stock exhaust on, your carb will run flawlessly.

    Sounds kind of wrong to say because of the circumstance but luck was on your side that day. How did your safety gear hold up and how much credit do you give to it for your outcome?
    Glade your XT was restored and your just about back to where you were before the accident.
    Your skid plate looks to be the one that comes on Japanese version of the XT I’ve been considering one because it looks in the catalog for it it fits the California bike without modifications, do think it’s as good as some of the after market ones like the Moose Racing one?

      I was wearing over $2.5K in protective gear that day - BMW Motorrad Jacket/Pants with D3.0 Armor, Moto Boots, Gloves, Arai XD4 Helmet, and my backpack which most likely softened the fall. The helmet hit the pavement - I heard the sound when it did - would have been my skull, the pants took a hit both when hitting the bars as I ejected from the bike as well as when I landed on the pavement (D3.0 works), the boots saved me from losing a foot which would have been ripped off when caught in the handlebars. My gear was worth every penny I paid for it - as it's not a matter of 'IF' you'll go down as a rider, only 'WHEN'. On the skid plate - I trust Yamaha Genuine Accessories - they fit and are well designed - the plate is quiet (no vibration) and has dealt with everything I have thrown at it and remains intact after 40k miles on my 2008 XT and 7K miles on my 2013 XT.
