  • A robin built a nest for her 4 eggs on our porch. For 2 weeks we got a close up view of the life cycle of the robins: from eggs, to hatchlings, to chicks to fledglings.

    Watch next year, she will come back and lay more eggs. We have had three nests on our porch and year after year after year the birds return to lay eggs. Its amazing.

      That is pretty cool. I expect that will happen here too. As I type this another bird is building a nest in the exact same spot.

    Thanks SO very much for your video! I just noticed earlier today that robins have a nest on my sm side porch (on top of the power meter box) and I wanted to know the cycle of growth from egg to fledge. Your video is perfect!
    ~In the yrs I have lived in this hse, they've had a nest in the outside eaves of the garage, then another time in this lg bush out on the lawn. This is the 1st time to have one on my side porch. I got something to stand on, to peek inside and saw 3 gorgeous eggs.
    ~My concerns are I have three dogs. They run freely out the doggy door (rt to the rt of the nesting place) and off to the yard and back, at their whims. They do this both when I am home or out at work, etc.. Now I will worry about the young robins when it's time to get out of the nest. If they jump down to porch floorboards = yikes! dogs! That would not be good.
    ~~Bottom line, I can't watch them all the time nor can I do anything about when the time comes for them to leave the nest. I guess I will simply hope for the best for these lovely birds-to-be. I am continually amazed as to how very small robins' nests are! I would think a little larger would be better, but hey, I'm not a robin. 🤣I suspect the small size keeps them in and warm and unable to fall out...
    ~~~Anyhoo, thanks again! Love this video! 🥰
    There was a robin who made two nests on my porch so and one of the nests the eggs hatched and I only see three birds so I named them Jazz,Simba,and Magic. I’m watching this video now to educate myself and to hopefully learn more about those boys/girls.
      Thanks for the comment Michelle. Sounds like a lot of fun to watch. This year we had one bird build a nest in the exact same spot (I don't think it was a robin). They abandoned it. I thought the robins might come back to the same spot this year, but they didn't.
    There’s a nest with a few American robins in them but I’m worried that when they try to get out or fly they will die because there is nothing they can step on, they are on a gutter, so there’s nothing to walk on, and there concrete below them so I’m afraid that when they jump out they will die on impact, can you please clarify and help me understand better, I’m really worried
      I'm sure the robins will be fine Jesy. Most nests are in trees where the babies can just step out and begin to fly. The robins we had used their wings to float down to the ground, uninjured. Once they collected themselves they started to fly and were never seen again.
    There was a robins nest I was watching and the eggs hatched. They were little babies and the momma bird came back to feed them and was sitting on them all day. Then today, they were all gone and I wonder what could've happened. I'm kind of sad 😔
      They never grew to the fledgling size, they were really tiny.
      @@katieluangkhot1096 that’s really sad. I’m not sure what could have happened. We have another nest here and 3 eggs hatched today. There had been four eggs, but one disappeared.
      Mine just showed up a few days ago. In the same spot. Makes me wonder if it's one of the birds born here a couple years ago?
    You should go to a bait shop and get 10 pounds of worms and feed mama every day. I bet you can get her to be tame if you did that. She would get used to you and know you are a source of food
