Best game ever , I’d love a full Demake of it for the SNES
What made the franchise interesting is since FF2 most the hero or chosen ones could beat him 1vs1
Dragon Quest 11S showed that demakes can be done with finesse.
It'd be easy to do most of the assets were remade as sprites for Final Fantasy Reccord Keeper
I'd like to see them do Pixel Remasters of 7-15 myself.

The character design of that prototype of a SFC FF7 looks a LOT like the male character on that N64 tech demo they did. I remember that that tech demo also had a character that look like Shadow the ninja, maybe they just used some designs they already had laying around for such a preliminar work on a 3D FF...
It's Locke from FF6. The demo you're talking about used Tina/Terra, Locke, and Shadow.
That SNES rendition shot... It kinda' looks like Nibelheim? Specifically the space between houses leading to the Shinra mansion. I mean, as it doesn't look like any other area. Even if its not actually, It looks like it could be or would've become that eventually.
One of the initial story proposals for Final Fantasy VII ended up being used to start an entirely different franchise, Xenogears.
Correction: Xenogears isn't a series
Chrono Trigger, FFVIII, and Parasite Eve were in that mix too. Eventually they all became their own games.
I think I would have liked a Final Fantasy game with a detective story.

I remember seen some renders of ff7 for the n64 (an oficial nintendo magazine put some pictures of a few models)
it ended up canceled due to storage limitation.
Fact check: the original final fantasy sold more copies in North America than it did in Japan. The reason 2 and 3 weren't localized is that it would have taken too long and Nintendo didn't want to keep releasing games on the NES once we got into the SNES lifecycle.

I honestly can't blame Square for ditching Nintendo when you consider the fact Nintendo all but screwed over developers with cartridges. For those that don't know back then Nintendo was getting a sizable cut from cartridge sales.

@@greenkoopa I honestly don't think it's from a build at all, but from a mockup instead.
All of these games kinda looked the same around that time. Romancing SaGa 3, Bahamut Lagoon, Rudras’ Treasure, Chrono Trigger, even Live-a-Live. The exceptions were the ones that used pre-rendered sprites like Treasure Hunter G and Super Mario RPG.

Every FF game IS sci-fi and steampunk. While at varying level, they all do in sci-fi. Even FF 1 (airship, Tiamat's floating fortress and its mechs, etc.). FF2&3, same. FF4.... goes to the moon. If these games are not sci-fi, I am an Ai.
