SOR2 will always be my favourite, but SOR4 is an amazing addition to the franchise.
SOR2 > SOR4 > SOR3 > SOR1, IMO. SOR1 isn't bad, but the rest are just better in pretty much every way.
The fact that you have an option to be the bad guy in SOR1 that alone makes it fantastic

I wasn't the biggest fan of SOR3, the difficulty spike was crazy, and the move from the amazing bumpy house music of the first two games to a more techno focus soundtrack really disappointed me.
I know from a technical stand point SOR1 is lacking compared to the rest of the franchise, but SOR1 was truly the first time I felt like I had an arcade quality experience in my own home, and for that reason it has to be higher than SOR4 for me.
sor1 for me.... it was ahead of its time.& the music 😅 the music set the standard for so many other sega games
Streets of Rage 4 is quite possibly the best sidescrolling beat 'em up to come out since the mid-90's.
The combo system pushed it above the previous ones. Gave it more replayability too

@@TheHarryDunne I would recommend people to look at Nevermore1414 videos he managed to do full combos with every characters, so did Waternar
for me though the videos I enjoyed the most were Blaze being played by Badmoon or by Rilsy, they both go for speedruns and the fights are so fluid, every movement is carefully thought through and prepared in advanced, it is like listening and seeing an exquisite melody played on screen
As much as I love Shredder's revenge, in my opinion, this is the better overall game.
Streets of Rage is one of my favorites. I am old.

They're all good and i can't believe we're getting Streets 5 soon.
I wonder if Streets of Rage Revolution will be a proper sequel to SoR4 or a spinoff of sorts. Being the first 3D game is quite the change, so maybe they didn't name it SoR5 to keep the possibility of a proper 2D sidescroller sequel to SoR4 in the future.

One of the finest beat em up game ever out out. Absolutely love the art style, combo system and playing with friends using Steam remote play.
I still play SoR4 on a regular basis. Mostly as Estel. BOOT MARK!!!
I try to develop my skills as multiple characters but my favorite one to use is Cherry

Streets of Rage 4 is a great addition to the series. Hope more to come down the line.
Makes sense it has SF references in this game. One of them being the “Kikosho” move from Chun-Li which Blaze uses aswell which is sick and also Rekkaken which Fei Long uses! So cool!
Best characters : Streets of rage 3 axel : because he can run and Streets of rage 4 adam : his semi-special attacks can overpower the rolling big boys.
I greatly appreciate how much work all the people are who are involved in making this game! I follow at least one or two of the artists on Twitter, and always love how people re-invent music that both reminds people of the previous games, as well as makes something new! Now after saying all that... I haven't gotten around to buying it yet, as I have a couple other beat-em-ups that I haven't even touched yet.
Bought the physical edition for Switch. Great Beat em Up game. Never played the older games on the Sega systems. Double Dragon, Final Fight and Turtles were my beat em up games back on the Snes.
It was also one of the games I bought when I got my switch OLED last year absolutely fantastic game my sister and I recently completed it.
SOR2 will always be my favourite but i really like SOR4 though.
S0r2 and 4 are the best imo easily they have the best music and atmosphere too s0r4 is chefs kiss the combat is immaculate Cherry Estelle S0r2 blaze S0r4 and 3 Axel adam Floyd roo and both shivas are my favorites to use.

SOR4 was my first in the series even though I grew up in the Genesis era, it is very satisfying!
The closest I played in the 90s was Fighting Force.
Sof 4 is top 5 beat em up for me and I have been playing them since Double Dragon. With the modern control scheme and combo system, it just plays so well.
Me and a bro just got finished it with a few day's ago not our first time been playing it since it released and I don't know how but man I forgot how FINE blaze is
Once you take the nostalgia glasses off you realise Sor4 is the greatest beat em up ever made.
my favourite new beat them up are Dragon's Crown, River City Girls, and Phantom Breakers. Sections of the Neir Automaton were very close to beat them up type game play too though it did a lot of different genres. Street of Rage 4 and TMNT Shredder's Revenge were the best of the beat them ups of all time.
Funny how Sega protected the SoR brand yet let Sonic go off the rails. Anyway, SoR4 was a great game. I didn’t like the voice work but it was fun to play & that’s what matters!
The only bad thing about SOR4 is that I now want SOR5!!!!!!
I actually love the art style for some reason.
I dropped out of gaming for some time, due to lack of time and some other issues in life.
A friend of mine had this on xbox one when it first came out and I played it with him and the next day I bought an xbox one just to play this game.
It got me back into gaming on a semi regular basis.
Love the game although I haven't mastered it as well as I did with number 2. I'll definitely go back to it.

If I were in production I'd have Axel be in his prison clothes while fighting in a gaulet because of his addiction to fighting. Also, have Roo and that other character be a cameo and fight beside you on a specific stage.

I did work on a pitch demo back in 2007 for "sor4" that was shown to Sega, prior to this game's release that look exactly like this art style.💯 I worked on producing the demo's soundtrack. We borrowed heavily from Sor2 & 3.

After patches, this game became one of the best side scrollers I have played.
The composer from Final Fight had a track in this too.
I enjoy most of the recent beat em up games but I wish they had the auto 2 player like Final Fight 3 and Streets of Rage Remake.
the only thing i would say about streets of rage 4 is the unlockables are really aimed at todays generation of gamers. fro someone from the past may have been there done that.

Well, you didn't but if you want to talk about those or the community that kept improving until they managed to make full combos on the 12 stages, the speedruns world records or the modders, there is plenty to talk about for a future video.
Also, if you had the opportunity to get more infos on Dotemu, Guard Crush and Lizardcube futur and upcoming games it would also be great (they don't communicate very much on the social medias I am on)
Sor 3 sprites were crazy detailed for genesis. I was hoping the sor 4 sprites would be to be more of an enhanced and updated version of sor 3.

Laughs in spikeout final edition for Xbox one and PS5 with Multiplayer.
The only thing I didn't care for was the hit counting system. Outside that, it's a great game right up there with a lot of the other major recent beat-em-ups and a good successor to the original series.

It was a big challenge for a couple of years to see who would be the one who would manage to do a full combo on mania and then mania +
Nowadays, Nevermore1414 managed to do the 12 stages in arcade mode without ever being touched and with a full combo (almost) every stages.
That is quite impressive to see. That and speedruns are a whole new level of players

Roo IS selectable with a code. SOR 3 only, but still. I 've waited so long to play as Adam that I am 90% of the time playing as him. The rest is SoR 1 Adam or SOR 4 Max.
A Shinobi or Shadow Dancer remake would be so awesome.
There is a new Shinobi game coming soon which is being made by the same company so it looks visually the same as this with Shinobi III style gameplay

SOR4 is awesome and I was so happy they didn't screw it up. I wish the same team could do a Splatterhouse 4 and bring it back to its roots and greatness. I was not a fan of the direction they took with Splatterhouse 2011 stylistically, or the Heavy Metal music.

Most reviews or opinions from modern IGN should be taken with a grain of salt. IGN staff did insult, on a personal level, Stellar Blade designers after all. Their staff members also claimed Resident Evil 4 was racist...

Absolutely True This Game was Awesome
I got this game and the new Double Dragon. I can play like a kid again, but somehow, do worse lol! I love these kind of games more than I did then as they are rare with the bonus of being done so well. It's embarrassing for IGN to give it a 7 out of 10.
We need more streets of rage 4 dlc
if only running (forward forward) mechanics and dodges ( up up , down down) were added, they add more to the fighting strategy and speed of the game.
I hope that Streets of Rage game Sega previewed is a spinoff and Streets of Rage 5 is a continuation of 4.

Roo is actually unlockable in the game via cheat code
most of the unlockables i know about ive been there. thanks to emulators and the power of the internet ive played them all and used cheats for all the games. so seeing the cheats for streets of rage 4 are nothing new. the cheats / unlockables i would say are aimed at todays young gerneration of gamers

Streets of rage 4 was what I was telling my chick when playing and having her learn about the old school versions before the new one came out. I told her wouldn't it be awesome if they put an hour days technologies into a 2D beat em up?! The crazy part is they actually did it a year at later and kept making them including the notorious TMNT Shredder's revenge. Got a hold of the company and inspired them to work on X-Men immediately after they finished TMNT. Then highly suggested they should do Power Rangers, Tribute games that is.
