He framed the convo as the plight of black head coaches 😆......clearly it wasn't a plight for kidd and mazzulla. And in a league that still predominantly black players. Yeah this was a question with a hidden agenda. Boston has a history of racial animus but so does most US cities. I thought sports was a place to escape from racial commentary. It tends to be emotionally volatile and few things are ever resolved.

then why is SUNDAY MORNING the most segregated day of the week. Across the nation. In poor black neighborhoods...the service is all black. In rich white suburbs...the service is all white. if race is TRULY A NON-ISSUE as you say it is on this planet, and the people who "bring it up" are divisive devils as you say? Then there would be more collaboration to make sure that all races attend church together. And not the TOKEN families of color that attend mostly large white congregations that I am positive you are about to bring up.

Joe is more concerned about his humanity and faith instead of falling into a race baiting question. Good for you Joe. Many black personalities in media make their names and content strictly around race. Boring. Joe put that reporter in his place.
Who cares about 2 black coaches in the Finals. How about reparations or 40 acres and a mule.
Get a job
How much "real estate" do you need to ask "what did you mean by that"?
Doesn’t seem like Coach Mazzulla wanted to bring in a conversation centered around race. I don’t find his words misleading at all, the media questions can be though…
Couldn’t he have said that instead of being so vague?
And honestly I don’t even know what his response even means.
@@SmartDave60 no, you can’t dictate how someone decides to answer a question. He could’ve said “next question” but that would’ve been looked at just as negatively as the answer he gave. Clearly, that’s a topic that he doesn’t want to discuss, why does he have to?
@@GarageDoorSports I’m saying he could have been clear on what he means.
You’re speculating that he doesn’t feel comfortable talking about race.
@@SmartDave60 honestly, I’d have to see the rest of the exchange to conclude how the two closed the Q/A, but maybe VG could’ve asked him to clarify? Not sure if he did or not. I’m not speculating anything, if he was comfortable, he would’ve answered.
@@GarageDoorSports that WAS the whole exchange.
Joe never said he wasn’t comfortable with the topic which he never said.
Great Answer HC Mazzulla!
When was the last time 2 white head coaches went against each other?
BLACK BLACK BLACK it’s played out. We’re human.

Blk Gay men speaking there
Lmao
where is goodwill from ? Detroit!!
Pretty sure Goodwill wouldn’t ask this question to the Lakers or Knicks, but because he has this media manufactured negative view of Boston, he’s trying to stir the melting pot.
Probably, hes always looking for multible racial angels.. Thats all people like him think about.
“Black spots.” Can you imagine saying “White spots?”
I’m not black - I’m Christian now! 🤦♂️ 😢
Didn’t learn nothing from OJ - huh? 🤷🏾♂️
THANK YOU.
It’s pathetic how Vince and this guy are detailing past incidents of racism in the Boston area AS IF it has any relevance to the NBA Finals. Their desperate attempts to justify Vince’s race-baiting question are illustrating just how ignorant his question was. BTW, both HCs of Celtics and Dallas are MIXED…(they’re just as much white as they are black!?) so the question is pure baiting and just trying to stir up controversy and division. Shame on you guys. I can’t even watch the whole interview…
He may be on the bus with Mike Tirico?
Thats fine, black people need to stop trying to claim everyone, we look thirsty.
100 percent.
I bet he gave praise to the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Y’all wouldn’t have anything to say.
So you in your feelings come on man it’s not a bonfire. I my mom used to ask me the same question when it came to my own people in the hood do your friends go to church?
He’s like “I’m a big tough guy so naturally I didn’t want to intimidate him, that’s why I looked like a little bitch, because I’m tough and all…” dude should’ve just kept quiet.
Imagine trying to race bait from YAHOO SPORTS and acting like Jesus is the wrong answer 😂 Jesus is King, repent and come to Christ brothers and sisters, if you take this as a questionable answer please read your gospel.
If this is the first time since 1975 maybe it says something about coaching abilities?
or opportunity
🤷
@@SmartDave60well mark jackson had the same stars as Steve Kerr…
@@SmartDave60Facts
@SmartDave60 there are plenty of black head coaches in the NBA. Because they cannot get their teams to the Finals is not opportunity it's failure of their ability to get them there. Stop the insanity. There are no equity entitlements.
@@beware63 and Joe could have said that.
Gary Washburn and other Boston media get this same treatment from Mazzulla on the regular. He can be pretty touchy and a little odd.
Great discussion guys!
Joe is super weird. If Mazzulla doesn't see himself as defined as "black" and much more so as a Christian, that is far easier to accept in Boston, which is an overwhelmingly Catholic & white city. A Boston fan might acknowledge having black players/coaches but typically insists its irrelevant. "Black coaches are better" is not EVER gonna be an acceptable conclusion IME.
OMG Mazzulla is Mike Tirico's cousin?? I had no idea!
It's 2024 and as a black man no one wants to hear these Jim Crow questions.
American Christians do not view Northeast Catholics as being under their tent. More like a separate cult.
Maybe cause joe isn't a race obsessed woke nutjob
The racist won’t acknowledge ish…
You were "caught off guard" because you didn't get the sanitary safe answer you wanted. Dude is religious. HIs thing. If you don't like how he answers, then stop asking him questions. His job is not to make you happy with his answers. He also has no obligation to speak on behalf of black people and your narratives.
Mazzula’s identity is found in his relationship with God through The Lord Jesus Christ, not his skin color-
Fellow black brothers and sisters-Find your identity in Christ not your culture!
Preach!
I need to learn from Joe. Maybe we need to understand religion is not Christianity.
Joe Mazula is the GOAT 🫡🫡🫡
You can’t get mad at this man because he doesn’t want to use race to push an agenda, sorry guys you loose. We are men of God before we are the color we are. If you still need acceptance of being black everywhere you go, then maybe you need to do more digging for your identity.
wow so this was the woke reporter that asked that question wow.. im glad joe answered the way he did
He deflected …
They always confuse the various shades of blackness…
Coach is a devout Catholic,marian too. ❤
I can tell you two overly educated brothers the reason why. He’s not 100% black. His Father is Sicilian and his mom is black. It doesn’t take much to figure that out if you don’t complicate things and do simple research on his family background.
Mazzulla knows Christ is king and these bozos hate it. They want the rage and hate and dont understand how someone can out God first and not be selfish. Good for Joe.
He has no answer about race. Christian first!!
Christ is King and these bozos hate it! F this woke media
Vinnie really in his feelings
Never like Goodwill , he one of those people that thinks " da culture" is the only culture, and if your not down with that , youre lame
I hate the way this victim thinks.
Sounds like Joe didn't want to be part of the victim olympics. Series isn't ending in a sweep and it was an idiotic question in 2024.
Be careful on who you go to war with? Does the royal family mean something to him? Maybe ask JB his thoughts. The color of skin doesn't matter to many.
Just take an L sir. His answer was correct, there was nothing wrong with his answer.
He works for yahoo sports, typical trash!!!
Mazulla 🦝 it’s ok to be black
Oh.
Vincent forgets that Wellesley is a far left, socialist and communist town.
Once again, Vincent makes a mistake.
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Our identity is in Christ … not in color
if that was TRUE....police wouldn't feel the need to SHOOT US during routine traffic stops, kill us, then WEAPONIZE IT by making "Blue Lives Matter" flags and selling them on sweatshirts across the country.
What Joe did must have went over this reporters head
Maybe just maybe he’s focused on winning a NBA championship,
Joe is a far greater man than you will ever be.
Yep. Grabbed a woman by her neck in a crowded bar and was arrested for it in college. Also fought with the police at a baseball game the year before while drunk. BUT....as long as he put "a woke, black man in his place"? He's GREAT isn't he? Better than the woke reporter who has never been arrested.
As a Christian…his response was odd. The question had nothing to do with religion…SMH…
That was the point.... guess you're slow.
His question had nothing to do with what's going on in the finals, bcuz 2 black coaches HAVE coached against one another in the finals b4 so what is the significance of it happening now. The answer is NONE. Which is why you don't get it.
He was trying to relay that his brotherhood is in Christ. The thing that matters to him isn’t black, white, green, yellow nothing! He loves everyone and feels related to everyone because of the love Jesus has bestowed on him. Being black is in the backseat for him,the love of Jesus means everything to him!
Why haven’t there been two black coaches in the finals since 75? Those results tell me blacks aren’t good coaches.
They’ve had plenty black coaches since 1975 a lot of them just haven’t coached their teams to the finals
@@b-rad3681 so like I said, they must not be good coaches.
@@jim6070 I’m agreeing with you , I was just making the point that there have been plenty black coaches in the nba since 1975 , a lot of them just haven’t coached their teams to the finals
Ummm.... how about the fact that black coaches are THE LAST TO BE HIRED and THE FIRST TO BE FIRED. Therefore, with that practice of institutional racism being a FACT? It is mathematically accurate that two black head coaches going head to head to win a title would be minimal.
@@JaeSproo Please supply proof of institutional racism in the NBA. I see a league dominated by black men.
He did his JESUS job pointed people of all colors to Jesus. To be saved from.🔥 At the cross All souls are equally in need of Jesus to save their souls All souls matter to God's skin tone got nothing to do with your judgment day. Sin is America's problem not skin. The sooner you turn to Jesus Christ to be born again the wise or you will be to the propaganda of the devil.
Jesus Christ did not go around divide and people on their skin or why they can't succeed in certain areas pending everyone against each other that's what the devil and his workers do without skin color and division the Democratic party would be absolutely destroyed
The word of God even addresses this in the book of Romans it says watch out for those who seek to divide you
then why is SUNDAY MORNING the most segregated day of the week.
The question is awkward the way you went about this is awkward. He answered you question with who identifies as. Most humans wouldn’t disagree. I think most Christians say that they’re Christian above all.
Vinnie, I think you miss the subtext of what Joe was saying. He could have said Celebate, Vegan, Chess-players, etc. It seems pretty clear that Joe does not find his skin color to be relevant in the conversation of his success. I mean this with all due respect. Many of us humans simply do not care about our skin color in the context of our story.
😂😂😂 good job Joe
I bet he didn’t one message saying the N word
What does he mean by a bonfire 🤔
take your L and move on. the question was stupid - not everything is about race
Vince Goodwill the next day quarterbacking isn’t working. Stop trying to save face.
These guys missed his point, why not ask a Christian Left handed Electric Car driving coach? He’s saying that you guys are obsessed with labels.
It's eaaasy to interpret Mezzulas answer: "Focusing on race is a mistake, we should be talking about faith... At least it says a lot more about me than the color of my skin".
So there are two components of his brilliant answer: 1. I will not add one dot to your woke agenda. 2. If your question is about identity, we should be talking about Religion.
