  • This is Part 2 of the first video in a series we are doing to take a closer look at the realignment from the perspective of the ACC schools. We begin with Florida St, the school at the center of the lawsuits that could spur the next wave of realignment. Where do they want to end up, the B1G or the SEC?

    Who would be the best travel partner for FSU if they leave the ACC?

    • @MarkHicok-vr5lx

      In my opinion best case scenario for Big 10 is to get Florida State and Clemson. I think Notre Dame will stay independent. I think North Carolina, Virginia, Miami, and Virginia Tech will go to the SEC to put them at 20 members. I think whats left of the ACC will go to Big 12, rebuild Pac 12, or go to group of 5.

    • @tarheel7406
      @tarheel7406 2 месяца назад +1

      Likely no one....
      a) The other two expansion objectors (CLEMSON & UNC) are leaning SEC, which is unlikely to expand at all until UNC is either secured or lost.
      b) The B1G likely keeps slot #20 open for ND.
      c) No ACC school follows FSU to the BIG12.

      @tarheel7460 Moron... Circa Aug 2021 there was a B1G reporter who stated that UNC had revisited the earlier failed talks in light of the TX/OK news. UNC brass contacted Delany shortly after the USC/UCLA news, obviously to confirm continued B1G interest.
      The power coup at UNC and the ousting of the pro-B1G Chancellor(?) is not an accident. That moves have just recently been made to possibly package NCSTATE. A package wouldn't work for the B1G but may for the SEC. UCLA leaving CAL was over a year before the BOG acted, so why else the delay?
      I reconcile history, actual events, credible reporting, and reasonable beliefs. In contrast you troll.

      How is ND a regional travel partner for FSU?

    • @tarheel7406
      @tarheel7406 2 месяца назад

      ND has too many legal entanglements with the ACC. Would require a heavy depletion out to the SEC/B1G, which is a different scenario than presented in the vid.

    • @lifehoff
      @lifehoff 2 месяца назад

      @tarheel7406 ND has no legal requirements except that they have to pay a $120 million exit fee. ND is a full voting ACC member but not part of the GOR. Just like their Big East deal, they can end it at any time by paying the exit fee. By the way ND did not even pay the Big East an exit fee. My guess is ND will vote to dissolve the ACC when they want out.
      This is about TV ratings and money, not logistics or regionally, that is why ND is the best travel partner.

  • @Mr.Ed_Wayner

    Best FSU travel partner if they leave the ACC IMO would be Miami (which is now AAU which matters) since they have a rivalry with them. Best media value travel partner for new conference would be UNC, assuming ND is not available. Next best media combination for new conference could be GT for GA market. All my combinations assume that FSU goes to the B1G and adds 2 states to the BTN. FSU is working on AAU and would be a bigger fish in the B1G versus the SEC. I don’t include Clemson because I don’t see the B1G taking Clemson due to not being a big research university, even though from FB point of view FSU & Clemson would really boost B1G FB depth.

      Strongly disagree. B10 is mostly large institutions, mostly public, with large fan bases and large alumni groups. Miami is not a B10 school and FSU probably doesn't care about taking them. If anything bringing them hurts FSU. Much better to bring a Carolina school.or even GT

    CLEMSON has historically low brand inertia and low synergies with B1G schools. It's also smarter than FSU and recognizes where it stands among peers. UVA & UNC are long wanted "wayward" flagships that are finally attainable. Under the prior SEC Commissioner, UNC/DUKE had standing invites and almost moved some years ago. DUKE is a unique asset that has synergies and provides increased exposure for SEC brands outside of football. UNC has agreed to advocate for CLEMSON.
      I quickly came to favor the SEC if UNC decides to move. The B1G is at its highwater mark and will wane if no heavy and effective expansion south, which I don't see happening.

      In UNC's case, it is understood that if and when it decided to move, a formal SEC or B1G invite would be forthcoming. Surely even a confirmed moron would know all of this already?
      If you had adequately followed this story and been informed, you would know that at least one UNC official has publicly stated that it could have joined the SEC earlier.
      Again, why is any of this offensive to you?

      @tarheel7460 You are a confirmed fool, fraud and troll with no standing or competency to comment. Did not read but did scan.
      a) The UNC/DUKE to SEC (which was also UVA/GATECH to B1G) realignment has been detailed as recently as a few months ago on the WVU board (I think).
      b) Leaked internal UNC emails hit on B1G efforts which ended with MD/UNC.
      c) During this story, a FOIA disclosed UNC exchange with Delaney hit on the B1G/UNC situation.
      Until the GOR is resolved, there will be no formal invites, so there would be none to report. What we can confidently know are interest and preferences.
      The TX/OK move was leaked and reported. There was a lot of informed speculation on USC/UCLA.
      Multiple credible reporters and analysts have confirmed that UNC is the expansion target of the SEC and B1G, ignoring ND. History also supports this. Why you find this offensive remains a mystery. If you think I'm delusional, okay. Every time the reporting gets hot regarding the interest in UNC, I've noticed you tend to disappear. Have you protested to Flugar or anyone else that posts similarly? No, you're a stalking troll.
      I suspect that you fear UNC will bump your school from the P2. Either that or Roy Williams killed your dog.

      Second, MIAMI was reported as B1G vetted and got an unworthy AAU invite. FSU wasn't and didn't. Given MIAMI's history of being a geo outlier and indy ~and~ its extended fanbase is national and from (now dated) brand and success, it can survive better on a B1G island than FSU. MIAMI also hasn't gone scorched earth. Finally, I suspect MIAMI has allied with ND. All of this favors MIAMI over FSU in my view.

      @@saturdayswarriorbyu No other school has gone scorched earth. TX/OK didn't really need to, but their plans were leaked and the process accelerated from original plans, so there was some incentive. USC/UCLA were quiet, but again shorter time frame. CLEMSON has been smarter with just a declaratory judgment request rather than also starting with vs. ACC claims. UNC and UVA have been very quiet, though UNC does fire shots across bows. I suspect UNC may file a separate dec case depending on CLEMSON's.
      FSU is disposable to the SEC, especially relative to a UVA/UNC firewall. CLEMSON has allied with UNC, which moves it ahead of FSU relative to the SEC.
      Due to demo trends, the B1G must effectively and heavily expand south. This pressing longer-term concern explains why the B1G may accept #2s in SEC dominated states, but it isn't certain.
      FSU has burned ACC bridges, so it will leave or be kicked as part of the litigation. A 1% chance of a ghost from the machine, all stay together resolution.
      When this story started to B1G was a very minority position among FSU fans from my experience. It moved to heavily favoring the B1G when it became more known that the SEC's interest is weak. Now I'm reading more defense of FSU to B1G12 and now indy.
