Definitely one of the more complicated pattern videos I’ve seen. This can be simplified. How am I going to place my hand like that to check which entry to use.

    It works!!
I’ve heard of similar tricks but I never really understood how they work. Now it makes sense!
As I’m preparing now for my instrument rating exam I hope it will help when it comes to holdings.

This only works when going straight toward the Nav aid, so what about if you're not and then you get asked the entry????

Great but what about leaving the hold and setup to return to the arrival airport? Most of the videos leave this out

How is this right? How are any of these right when the way one draws them out is completely different? Shouldn’t the direct entry be going clockwise from 110 to 290? Then teardrop from 290 to 360, then parallel from 360 to 110?
At the beginning of Step 2, this video is completely wrong when compared with how it’s supposed to be drawn. What going on people, why is this stuff always so backwards?

you're so right this guy just confused me even more, I'd rather prefer the "Draw the line and move the pencil method... "

That’s interesting that the standard holding pattern is right when the standard traffic patter is left 🧐.

VFR is Left turn standard, and on IFR, a Right turn is standard
