    The best explanation for holds I’ve ever seen! Definitely much better than courses that require payments. Kudos to you sir! Check ride is less than a month. Wish me luck!

    Doing my ATPLs. This video really helped me understand the concept. Thank you so much. Flight school has made me realise that I’m very much a visual learner compared to being a note taker as a kid.

    I watched many videos about this subject and finally I found. Everbody teaches different methods but this is exactly what my instructor want. Some other methods are more easy but I need to be in coordination with my instructor.

    You're brilliant, and you're a naturally intuitive teacher. This is amazing. I'm not even a pilot, but I've got a passing interest in aviation procedures for some reason, and although this assumes some knowledge, I still fully understand it. I also like that you get right to the damn point and have no fluffy-ass intro and/or outro. Damn fine job.

    @8:10 something doesn’t add up. If you’re coming from a 210 heading, would it not be a direct entry?

    • @mybubu2000
      @mybubu2000 6 лет назад +1

      I rechecked.Looks like a parallel entry bro. If it’s a direct entry it would be an entry from 180 to 270 heading.

    • @daintyflygirl4va
      @daintyflygirl4va 6 лет назад

      I think its a direct entry

    • @renzomartinez3351

      He said hold on radial 180 over station. You're from radial 030 heading to station at heading 210. Its parallel.

  • @vincebeatz5881
    @vincebeatz5881 2 года назад

    This is good but I get confused at the part where we approach from... when coming in on the 210 radial, isn't that to the SW? After drawing the compass rose why you chose to come from the NE? not saying you're wrong I just don't understand that portion

    Hi, I think that the “clearance” should have stated that the hold would be INBOUND, and in your example, inbound on 270 radial. It got me confused at the beginning. Thanks.

    Video is great but also I think it was important to explain and show standard and non standard pattern as it makes some changes in Tear drop

    at 7:40 the heading indicator is indicated the nose of the plane is heading north, how could you be flying on a 210 heading?

    Many students confuse "HEADING" and "RADIAL" (Radial ALWAYS leaves the VOR), Heading is the direction you're flying. When you take into consideration the WCA inbound and outbound legs at altitude, you're not flying a race track pattern any longer.

    Hi,good question for you.
    If would ATC give -hold W on 90...what entry you would choose ,why and how would you do it.
    Thank you.

    Nice vid....good visualization tools, even for a 25 yr instrument pilot !!

  • @zacharynorman397
    @zacharynorman397 5 лет назад

    Why did you draw the "slash" from "7 to 1 o'clock" and not "11 to 4 o'clock?" Wouldn't that cut off a larger part of the hold??

    • @zacharynorman397
      @zacharynorman397 5 лет назад

      I think I may have just answered my question myself...I think (if I am understanding correctly) the "teardrop" section needs to always be on the outside of the hold. Therefore, if you cut it from 11-4 oclock like I said, the teardrop would be on the wrong side. Yes?

    Entry’s are easy. Just fly over the fix and take the easiest rout to the opposite corner. Time it for 1 min turn right usually.

    The best instructions for holding can be found in the King Video. I am not affiliated with the Kings.

  • @giacomosimongini5452
    @giacomosimongini5452 5 лет назад

    Overall a clear and helpful explanation, but the "slashing out the biggest part of the hold" to find the entry procedure had me confused. It doesn't give any real information on how to draw that line.

    • @revlengel
      @revlengel 5 лет назад

      Giacomo Simongini agree, not enough info in that statement. What I do is extend the inbound leg straight through the fix. Then move 70 degrees left around the fix and then slice it on that angle. The slice with the extended inbound beyond the fix gives you the 3 sections. (This is harder to explain without drawing a diagram, but I hope it makes sense.)
