    Synopsis: The ever popular film tells the true story of the beginning of David Wilkerson's work among the gangs of New York City and the dramatic conversion of the notorious street fighter, Nicky Cruz.
    Now in over 25 languages, The Cross and the Switchblade, starring Pat Boone and Eric Estrada, is one of those rare films that has shown its unique power to connect with the deepest hopes and fears of youth around the world. It remains today one of the most compelling stories of love, grace and the truth that no one is ever so far gone that they cannot find the way out.

    Seen this movie when I was 13-14 years old and it led me to Jesus 😊 I was 14 but started backsliding when I was 17 …for 20 years i backslid but I came to the Lord after becoming an alcoholic for 10 years. I got sick and had insomnia for a month. I had alcohol withdrawals and I cried alright to God for help, he helped me that morning. I ended up in the hospital and have been sober since. God is good and He never leaves. Even though I don’t deserve His grace and forgiveness He helps. ❤❤❤ and heals.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    The book is amazing! If you enjoyed the movie, get the book, read it, then give it to some youth in your life. I gave it to my 15 year old friend and through the book, the Holy Spirit touched her life; she became a Christian.

    I read "The cross and the switchblade" book about 10 times and saw the movie more than 4 times and that motivated me to start a youth bible study group and produce 3 youth videos and start a utube channel...all because of most salute worthy ministry of David Wilkerson....a very outstanding servant of God. Praise the Lord for such dedicated servant of God

    I saw this movie when I was was 13 or 14 and read the book sometime later.all I saw was Erik Estrada. I first heard you needed to be born again when I was sixteen. Later as a senior in high school did I get redeemed. I am 67 now and have been walking with my Savior since. Not perfect but watching for him to meet Him in the clouds. Thank you for showing this movie at this time.

    Someone needs to update this movie and bring it into the 21st century. There's a current generation dying for redemption!

    • @juliapom9115
      @juliapom9115 11 месяцев назад +20

      Why? This is a true story about David Wilkerson and how God worked in his life. We cannot change the date of his birth to suit people, he was born in 1931 and died in 2011, if the movie is up-dated it would no longer be true.

    • @armedinbama
      @armedinbama 11 месяцев назад +15

      @juliapom9115 First, I did not say to update the timeline, only the movie.
      This movie, as made in 1970, is not relatable to today's youth. They will not take the time to watch it of their own accord, and those who are made to will not give it the attention required to understand the message. Technology and standards of film making have jumped light years in the past 50-odd years. This could be utilized to make the movie relatable to today's youth, get and hold their attention, and stay true to the book. (Even more so than this movie, if we're both honest.)
      Thanks for asking and taking the time to read my reply. 😊👍

    I am an italian preacher, 61. I used to live as a junkie could, until Jesus Christ revealed Himself, all of a sudden, one night, back in 1986. I was 24 and knew nothing about God, Jesus, Spirit... All I knew was how to swindle, how to steal, how to "mainline"... I was 35 when, in a bookstore in New York City, I came across into The Cross and the Switchblade. Two years later, in Germany, I found Run Baby Run. Never did I fathom seeing this movie one day! Thanks 4 uploading, makes me feel younger.

    Well I had no idea this was a true story. For me as a 50s and 60s kid, I thought this was some kind of hokey morality film like Reefer Madness or even West Side Story, though the latter was a great song and dance film (the original Not the Remake -ugh). As a true story, at 30 minutes, pretty good so far. At least some professional actors in it unlike many Christian films. Thanks for making this available.

      This film and story are set in the Fort Greene housing project, Brooklyn, New York, in 1953-1957, specifically Nicky lived at 54 Fort Greene place. And factually speaking if you're from Chicago in that era you really can't comment that it's all wrong, for the simple fact you have no experience of that city during that period. Chicago in the 50s and New York in the 50s had similarities but you can't say one was just like the other.

He shares his testimony on several RUclips sites. Wilkerson was the pastor of Times Square Pulpit church.

    He talked grace through faith but....
    Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of *eternal life* to all who trust Him alone for salvation.
    Jesus paid for all the sins of all the world at the cross (past, present, and future). That payment is put to your account when you have believed on Christ alone for salvation.
    This means that saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.

      Right, he preached all that (basic), and so much more! Example: America's Last Call 1998, writing of the economic crash 10 yrs before the fact... that's one of many. I exalt not the man, but the God he loved and served...amid great, continual trials. 2 Timothy ch. 3

    I don’t like the profanity. David Wilkerson should have done better

      I don't like it either, but Wilkerson doesn't curse, and it keeps it grittier and more realistic. The actual real-life cursing was much worse!

      @@justin10292000 I’m sure people in the Bible days cursed but the Bible doesn’t record it once. It’s not necessary to capture profane statements when you can get the point across without it

      That bad, huh,? Well, it ain't Warriors, nor is it trying to be. Are you getting the message it conveys? Of God's love for YOU??
