I came from an Evangelical family.
We were made to sit down and watch this film aswell as a movie called "thief in the night".
Both films promoted the worship of an entity called YAHWEH through a flesh form of that same entity called Jesus.
Thats what the preacher in the movie was trying to get the various gangs to do.
If the gangs would have simply read the Old Testament they would have discovered that YAHWEH was a million times more sadistic than the gangs ever were.
None of the gangs in the movie killed little babies - but YAHWEH ordered the killing of little babies many times in the Old Testament.
However, the Bible does contain some excellent historical records of the everyday lives of Black and Asian people outisde of the general tribal folklore stuff.
Its a Black and Asian history book mixed in with some egotistical stories of war.
