This channel is like a fountain of knowledge on eMTB maintenance. I almost wish his bike would break more often because the how to here are fucking amazing. 🤣
😁🤙🏻thanks??? If it breaks…we try to improve it
Thanks for doing all these vids - great to see what I will be up against.
@@deadzone44 thank you. Any questions just ask.
Thanks for this simple informative and un-annoying video with great editing.
Ha Ha…when I first glanced at this I saw “annoying” and then I read it😎 Thank you for watching 🤙🏻
🇬🇧Fascinating thorough strip down and part replacement!!Top Quality work Doug!!👍💯Positive Vibes!🤘😎🤘
Thanks D for the knowledge I’m getting with a bike that hopefully gets here by end Sept. already have parts to replace after a couple runs on Koloko trails ! Cheers 👍🏾🤙🏾
Awesome! You’re going to love it. It’s not a regular “ebike” it’s special 😎 and all the issues I address…no need to stress, for the most part the bikes pretty solid. 🤙🏻
Informative video. One thing is pretty clear and no doubt you know this...a lot easier to replace the pawl/clutch assembly on a BBSHD Bafang motor...can do it easily on the bike.
Thanks for the review of how to do it on the M620.
Your Welcome
Also much easier to find one for the bbhsd. I never had to switch one on Mt bbshd but I have a bafang ultra and it took along time searching to find one but bbs01/02/hd ones are everywhere. Same with rotors no idea how my rotor go mangled but it did. Running a LOT more power through it then stock
nice video, thanks
Thank You…for watching and commenting 🤙🏻
Have you ever come across a Bafang Mid Drive which has a working throttle but no Pedal Assist? How should I trouble shoot this problem? My motor is a BBS02B 500w.
So if your throttle works then that’s your gears driving the chain. This means you need to replace the internal pedal engagement pawls inside the motor. This is the same situation I came across and replaced this part. Yours might need this…

@@SimplePleasuresMTB My motor has been running on throttle only for last 100km and overheating as well. Do you think I will need any other parts replaced?
@@KeithAVass most likely re-greased
@@SimplePleasuresMTB i SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THAT MY PEDALS ARE DRIVING THE CHAIN BUT NOT ENGAGING PEDAL ASSIST. DOES THIS MAKE IT A SOFTWARE PROBLEM OR COULD IT BE A FAULTY SPEED SENSOR?
I HAVE BEEN USING A CONNECTION WITH THE DISPLAY TO PROGRAM THE CONTROLLER. COULD THESE SETTINGS, IF WRONG, CAUSE THE PEDAL ASSIST TO STOP WORKING?
Awesome!
Thanks for the video. Do you know where I can get the ring that those pawls engage with? I think it's called a ratchet ring.

I understand it was related to grease and spring fatigue. Would it have made sense to grease the gears while having it open? I did not see you adding more grease. Or am I wrong. Thank You.
It was previously greased with corn head (John Deere).
you replaced the rear 3 pawl freewheel with a 6 pawl, wouldn't it be reasonable to put a 6 pawl inside the motor too?
Not sure that’s an option. I did see a 4 pawl, but it doesn’t fit this motor.
Is tri-flow the best lubricant to use in this motor
@@pixelatedmushroom I don’t know about best, but it’s pretty good
Washer between 3 pawl gear and main gear ????
That’s how it came off. It was stuck to the top of the old pawl mechanism
So how do you prevent it from happening again?
On this one it was too heavily greased so the pawls were not expanding properly and the retaining spring was snapped. To prevent it? I would leave it alone until it goes bad, not really worth opening the motor up for no reason, but if you were too, I’d remove it and clean all the heavy grease off and use a light oil so the pawls engage properly
Hi there!
This is for pedal asistent ? or just for the pedal?
Because my bikei have the Bafang M620 motor and the pedal assist (PAS) stopped working.. What do you suggest what can i do to fix it ?
Maybe you have a video somewhere for this issue how to fix it?
@@adrianchester if the pedaling stopped try this
@@SimplePleasuresMTB what?
Need part number for pawls

While off why not replace that 2 lb 44 tooth chainring with a lighter one, it’s destroying that motor. Tons of lighter 44 tooth options for $20-30
This is not my bike, and yes, I agree, I’m fully aware of the chainring weight of 2.5 lbs vs. ruclips.net/video/5AqJX70h6eI/видео.html
I have a ton of videos on upgrading the Rockstar, running the same m620 motor. Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
