When you have a good squad/team to run with there is nothing finer than PS. HLL is better for when you don't necessarily want to work with others, but may want a hint of co-operative play but mostly action.
I don't personally care, but I'm not sure why people have a hard time understanding what the issue issue with an organisation within the german army that was heavily involved in the holocaust... It's like in reenactor groups "I can either dress up as say a german paratrooper or as an SS soldier, there can't possibly be any sort of moral difference between the two groups"
Since the new big update Post Scriptum is my go to game. The slower and realistic gameplay is in my opinion much more fun. And don't get me started on the sound effects, PS has the best sound effects i've ever heard in a videogame.
It's all about atmosphere for me in games. Whilst HLL is VISUALLY more atmospheric, PS completely nails the atmosphere as far as sounds and intensity are concerned. HLL just feels flat to me
HLL falls flat in terms of movement, gunplay, tactical necessity and sound design. Automatic weapons have little recoil and the sounds are totally off. It's really a deeply flawed game. PS is something special and I hope people will come around to it. It's worth every penny. I think itll grow.
I played HLL for about a month and its now my favorite game. In epic settings, the game is so realistic. I saw videos for PS and bought it. I returned it cause it didn't feel as immersive as HLL. The texture qualities on HLL are so good. If HLL didn't exist, I would probably really like PS.
You should also mention that HLL is still in early access and almost everthing is work in progress. While PS is full release. Both are great games tho!
I don't think you necessarily have to mention that. "Early Access" is just a name. PS, even after it's "full launch" last year still had a lot of those major overhauls that HLL has had or still wants to do in their "Early Access" period. Ultimately, PS is in development since 2016 and HLL since 2014. About 10 people are working on either of the games. Neither games are finished products yet and won't be for the foreseeable future. PS has several factions (3+), maps (7+), vehicles + weapons (20+), as well as new gamemodes and continuous update of animations and audio on their roadmap. For HLL it's similar with new maps (4+), vehicles, weapons, animation and audio overhauls, new character customisation options and a gunplay / ballistics overhaul planned. I think, just like in the past, you can expect more smaller update from HLL, whereas PS will have larger updates but further spread out over the year. IMO, everyone is free to judge both games at any given time in their development state. Just play the game you enjoy the most right now, maybe in a few month it's the other game that attracts you more, who knows.
@@langpascal You do need to mention that, PS was broken on launch and for an entire year after. Only recently it became playable on common hardware. A year after launch PS still runs horribly though. HLL looks way better and runs on par with PS, And HLL hasn't even had its optimisation patch yet. If HLL patch has HLL running better than PS, PS is done for lol. Terrible game with lazily put together maps.
PS gets my vote. As to updates, you seem kinda harsh on Periscope. They have come with several additional maps, sound and graphical updates and a gore update. A lot of new content HAS been coming over the past 12 months. Not least is the 4.21 update, which almost makes it feel like a completely new game.
Yeah a bit of a poor cover, it took 5 to 6 months to work on the engine upgrade, that is why they weren't able to launch new updates. Even then, the amount of content it has far surpasses HLL, with new visuals addition and a stable version, they can really set off and get that gap even farther. PS roadmap is also much more interesting for the new few months, HLL won't even have wheeled vehicles by February.
@@michaelmartin2763 I can certainly compare the both of them in terms of future content. A lot of people seem misguided with the Early Access label. If HLL has "potential", then PS has the advantage. Beyond in-game content it's also Sandbox aka Zeus of Arma and SDK. Chapter 3 might even arrive before we see any substantial from HLL again.
@@trailoffiendsstill not a fair comparison when one game is a full released game lol. Also PS devs have been severely lacking in terms of updates so not sure how you think it "surpasses it"
@@michaelmartin2763 Post Scriptum is a fully released game in name but it still has the work and updates put into it of a work-in-progress game. Especially when it first came out, everybody could tell it was far from fully-released but the devs called it that for some reason and ended up paying for it in the reviews
@@kevinneville5876 what are you talking about lol? Dude, the sound design is incredible. Ps has recorded real life gun sounds from all the weapons. It's one of the best in any FPS!!
I first purchased HLL and really loved it, HLL has so much better world design, house interiors have props and looks like people lived there and its well balanced between arcade and mil sim. Then i recently bought PS and loved the sounds, effects, gunplay and animations. I have been playing PS since I bought it and HLL has faded away for now. After HLL impliments the new mocap animations, I will jump right back in : )
Grunt after the newest update the optimization in ps has been ten times better then it used to be, and now there is a spike of new players that have gotten back into the game, I have played both games and I would say that if you like gritty hardcore ww2 games then ps is for you, but if you like more fast pace then hll is for you
Low ping server or Australian server availability - HLL Graphic optimisation - HLL Welcoming community - HLL Achievement satisfaction - HLL Regular update improvements and fixes - HLL Realistic gameplay - PS Realistic sounds - PS No. of maps - PS Tactical focus - PS Very close call between both, but currently I give HLL the vote, this doesn't mean I won't change my mind.
For the welcoming community when I first started in both games they where accepting and helped me along the way, but it is a lot harder to get good in ps then in hll
Get ether of them over BF5. I got that recently for 15 bucks and I regret it, even at that price. It's a total terd. It plays worse than BF4 from 5+ years ago in terms of gameplay mechanics and the actual atmosphere of WW2 is totally ridiculous. Each faction can have ether sides weapons and there are totally fabricated weapon sites for the guns. There are also outlandish character customization that allows for genders and races that never fought in the battles. It plays like some woke alternative reality. Super cringy.
Your mistake is expecting realism from any BF game. It’s been very causal since bf3. If BFV aimed towards realism, the player base would drop significantly. I mean look at what people bitch about, low visibility, mmg campers, OP guns and vehicles.... these kind of games aren’t for your typical casual gamer.
I feel you man, I was a long time BF player since BC2, but BF5 does kinda blow. I love WWII games but BF doesn’t feel like your playing in WWII with the gun mods and player looks. Hell I had to look up if BF5 was even set in WWII after watching that god awful and confusing trailer lol. Been playing HLL for a couple months and love it
Eddie Lombera I think he’s talking more about the vibe or atmosphere of BF5, it being set in WWII but it doesn’t feel like it. Of course BF isn’t a realistic FPS, but if it’s gonna be set in a specific war or era, at least make it feel like it. The uniforms and weapons are ridiculous in that game
6:15 in Hell Let Loose you can also play as Waffen SS. Just look at the left arm of a german Soldier (I don't know which map) there is an armband with “Goetz von Berlichingen“. This was the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division.
post scriptum, hell let loose needs a lot more dev time to come close. sounds alone make hell let loose hard for me. also ps just plays and feels way more realistic currently
''hell let loose needs a lot more dev time to come close'' Boi, you would almost say PS has been in a longer dev cycle than HLL and HLL is still in EA compared to PS... Oh wait, it is.
Agreed with Tracer. Nothing controversial about playing the ss. It's just historically accurate. Like tracer said, then it should also be controversial to play a soviet in any game. You are a field soldier. Aside from that I like PS more. It's so emersive. They explained why they didnt release new content for a while. They wanted to focus on the engine update first. And since 4.21 PS playerbase is growing. Also the audio and explosion effects are insane. I do like some of the HLL maps more tho( dday etc). But im glad we have these games
@Bryan Ott true, just look up some photos from the USHMM and you can see men with waffen badges, who supposedly only fought in a military capacity against opposing militaries, participating in mass executions of Jews and other undesirables. Just some quick primary source analysis will reveal this to anyone who has an interest
@Bryan Ott i know all that you uneducated nit. So you choose to hide history like bf5? Dont play the red army then in other games too. Mr stalin murdered millions aswell but thats fine right? Geez. Sjw much
Having played both. Immersion - PS obviously in bucket loads. Sounds is frightening and the stuka adds that fear element. But if you feel that immersion comes from firefights and the feeling of being in a battle, I get far more firefights and the ability to line up along hedges in HLL. I think the suppression is overdone in PS so it's hard to get that classic bullet trading firefight. Teamplay in PS - I can say that there is more teamplay in PS out of necessity - bigger maps and sparser rally points means you need to co-ordinate more whilst HLL with easy rally points basically keeps up a loosly co-ordinated front line most of the time which I like. Medics in PS are essential, HLL occasionally useful if you get far ahead of your rally point but otherwise not, easy to respawn close to the action. I've started to get irked by PS stamina system, it becomes a hindrance with the long distances involved in getting to battle, HLL is a bit like Arma , you just run at a reasonable pace. The weapons, PS kills it, blows HLL away - sound, the recoil, the animations, HLL feels dull in comparison. Commander role more central in PS but seen it used quite well in HLL too on occasion. So basically, a merger of the two would be the perfect game. Probably edging to HLL as PS is a bit run n die at times.
That'll work for a casual gamer like you. But for people that want to be a little more invested, more teamplay focused with a better gunplay system, PS is the way to go.
@@bubbashepherd1843 Casual my ass. No casual will last more than 3 hours on either of the games, so your little argument has no foundation. You could argue on the ease of strategic playing, since many of PS players have had experience with other mil-sim games, while HLL has an actual learning curve that new players have to go through to learn team co-operation. Gun-play system is really subjective, so I won't even bother.
Gyoniro that's the thing. Hell let loose did not attract the correct crowd for the game it wants to be. Almost noone uses their mic or coordinates with other squads. It makes the game feel even more casual leaning than it already does. Also, the learning curve is much more deep on PS with the addition of logistics alone.
@@spike339 I believe everyone is welcome to jump in and learn. I dont mind answering questions while in game. It is also up to squad leader to be as exhaustive as possible with commands. Logistics are also a big thing in HLL, ofc there are yet to be added transport vehicles, fortifications and supply trucks, but managing nodes for resources is a big big factor. Moreover, as Cyrille said, HLL delievers a better ambiance, imo.
@@spike339 I play PS alot.. In the early days no one ever used their mics, people wandered around which caused alot of people to bugger off. It has gotten better as arcade gamers left but it still happens. Unless you join a clan which I did. dont expect a milsim like coordination.
Yeah, im just not seeing the graphical advantages of Post Scriptum. the interiors of buildings look like Minecraft and the textures overall look like a Playstation game.
When I look at indie games, I always consider the number of existing players. Looking at Steam Charts, over the last 30 days, PS had an average of 350 concurrent players, while HLL had 960. Lots more to consider, but that fact is worth pointing out.
What I noticed in Billys Video, is that he always uses a automatic or semiautomatic weapon. He should show the bolt action rifles wich 80% of the classes use, they are the most tricky part to master.
@@TheSaintArmando it really isn't in my opinion it's a far easier game to grasp and be effective at. I've played ALOT of hell let loose and I'm not bashing it by any means I'm simply saying PS is more hardcore
As you would expect brutal to mean, it is easier to get your bearings, easier to learn, easier to shoot any of the guns, more arcade like. again not saying hell let loose isn't good it just isn't as good as PS
@@Grobskiii what i thought you ment with brutal, was the actual brutallity of the body parts flying around when a artillery shell hits etc. Yea post scriptum is a bit more nerdy, realistic i guess, but it is also less fun for that reason. More people kind of like the balance between being "realistic" but also fun, you can see this in players actually playing the game
I like both HLL and PS. HLL visuals are great, has some very nice polished touches. One thing I do not like about HLL is the "feel." The game has poor feedback as to whether or not you've shot someone, you just don't get that solid "I _definitely_ killed that guy" feel that Post Scriptum has. When you pop someone you know instantly if you've killed someone because the hit meta is super reliable. In HLL I never know if I got someone or not, just lacks that kind of feedback.
Personally PS will always be my go to, that rushing adrenaline feeling when its all quiet and then all of a sudden explosions deafening my ears, bullets flying, commander screaming in the mic, PS is just such a better rush and gameplay for me. It really immerses me into that world and time i feel. HLL is a bit too generic for me sadly.
Post scriptum for the authenticity (not realism) and teamwork. Most of the comunity comes from a "realism" branch of gaming, which means it's easier to deal with stuff like comms. the "overal feel" is better. Hell Let Loose for the visuals. That's pretty much it. The playerbase does come a lot from "arcade" shooters which makes teamwork harder. Not communicating squad leaders, no one taking the support class, and you've lost. If your squad lacks any of these in HLL, you lost. It's also way easier to just give up when you get shot down so medic's never taken because no one stays to be revived because death has almsot no consequence. What I think would be nice would be for either game to get inspiration from the other one for the squads though. Sniper teams in HLL is a great idea with spotter and sniper: Snipers rarely stay with their team. But at the same time, a logistics team like in PS would really help hell let loose with their garrison system.
It really depends on what suits your gaming preference. I play both but HLL is more intense and fun when it comes to close combat situations. On the other hand, PS is slow pace and more of a tactical game. Both are great options for WW2 shooter game fans.
I like both games but here is my issues with both of them. PS feels like Squad to me, which I already own and is one of my favorite games. Basically, it feels like a Squad mod to me. My issue with HLL is, in my own experience, the lack of communication. Now there's more communication in it than BFV or COD but not as much as PS. For the most part, and because of lack of time, I've had to play with silent squads in HLL. Graphically, HLL is way better, but coming from Squad, I can appreciate PS.
I've played HLL for about 2 months now, and literally every match I've played i have talked to my squad and players around me. And if i happen to join a mic-less squad, which is never all 5 people, i just join another squad and talk with them.
Haven't played Hell Let Loose, but as someone who gave up on BF once my eyes were opened by Project Reality back in the day, I adore Post Scriptum. It's without doubt the most immersive WW2 experience I've had. The only issue is sometimes the server can be laggy because at times you're forced to play on a foreign server (for me, that'd be a US server) due to there not being many. I'm sure that will be hugely alleviated tho when the new French campaign is released soon
Which one would you recommend for red orchestra/rising storm fans? I am a huge fan of RO/RS but not so much of squad/project reality. Squad and PR are just TOO slow paced and too little actual gunfights and action for me. Is HLL the better choice then?
@@navatone Well I've tried it now. It's similar but way more strategic and tactical than RO/RS. It's not as easy to just casually play a couple of public rounds of HLL in the evening. Let alone the resource system, the massive amounts of items and weaponry that can be dropped by engineers etc. It seems way more complex. I liked RO/RS for having found the perfect balance between being able to play casually but still being as close to a military sim as possible while maintaining fun and possible casual gameplay. However I'll try longer to get into HLL. I'm sure it takes quite a while to figure everything out and get better.
I almost think it's a shame that both these games came along at similar times because they are clearly splitting what is already a fairly small player base. However, if they are anything like Rising Storm 2, despite being considered small communities there is always a number of a good full servers to choose from. I've not played either but I would hazard a guess post scriptum has a bit of a toxic community like squad and PR do.
Coming from someone who played the fuck out of red orchestra 2 back in the day post Scriptum is definitely the better choice for me. Hell let loose is not a bad game but it feels more like a battlefield style game then a red orchestra game.
El Matadores the Wehrmacht were Nazis. Sure they didn’t have the task of keeping the concentration camps but they sure as hell weren’t a separate thing, they still took orders from Hitler. It’s not like anybody is forcing you to play as a nazi, if you are that upset over such a small aspect then just don’t play the game or only play as allies? Just don’t act like they should remove a historical fact from a game trying to be historically accurate. Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
@@MaceyWavves "the Wehrmacht were nazis" in theory yes, in practice not. Because many people in there were of diffrerent ideologies. Like at the latter period of war when Czechoslovaks and other nations were drafted in wehrmacht. They sure as hell weren't nazis, that's oxymoron at the time (and usually even now). Otherwise, I agree.
@Los Matadorès There were also Waffen SS divisions, which were created for fighting. Sure they did some war crimes too, but their objective especially in the late war was to fight as any other Wehrmacht division.
Theres something weird about the gunplay in HLL that makes it feel weird and stuttery. The sniping gameplay at 7:01 illustrates this more. Hopefully this will improve.
Post Scriptum is just ww2 squad, which is a better game than all of them, so I definitely prefer PS. HLL is just too in between and arcadey. If I wanted more arcadey I'd just go for BFV, much better.
There are always more servers available for HLL unless my filters for PS are messed up. Both are great games. Currently HLL looks prettier but PS sounds better and the gunplay is a bit more realistic except for the bolt action rifle reloads...... but then HLL has an Exp system while PS doesnt......sheesh just get both games
PS is by far a better game all around! HLL is a pretty game but thats where the pros end for me. Yeah it has “big” maps but not nearly as large as PS in regards to how you can go on some really badass flanks behind the enemy. HLL is kinda gated off on the sides and you cant go past certain red zones after they’ve been taken. PS has absolute freedom of every map which i like
If I build a pc next year, I'll get both, because I want to see both of them succeed. I need more options on the market if I plan on giving up Battlefield 5.
I also want to add that I believe the Tank combat in Hell Let Loose is a lot better. Sure it doesn't have the multiple vision modes, having the option to open your hatches and so forth but at least shooting at other tanks doesn't feel like such RNG ping-pong. As long as you know where to shoot in Hell Let Loose you'll get the kill for sure.
I hate how these modern games darken or blur the screen when you get shot at. It's like the opposite, you get adrenaline rush and you pay more attention. lol.
As someone who has come from squad id say ps is the first choice. Just the declining player count and fear of finding nobody who is willing to use a mic and communicate is holding me back. Next time it's on sale though ill pick it up because the only way the game will grow is if people like me fork over the money and finally hop into a server.
@@kpgpwi64 Seems like you have a server issue. Try clicking the "help" button in the top right for solutions. There are WAY more active servers than that.
... A lot of what you said about both games is flat out wrong, especially with some stuff with what you said about PS only having One major update in over a year. You're just flat out wrong about that. This is the Second Chapter in their Update Map which they have said before they could of added as DLC but they wanted to give it out for free. They've added in quite a bit since launch including the Americans as a playable faction, multiple maps, Gore, etc. You also didn't go into the ballistics of the guns which is really important to hardcore shooter fans. HLL's ballistics are literally Hit Scan right now. There is no bullet time travel and no bullet drop. PS, you have to not only account for the distance you're shooting that is specific to each gun's ballistics, you also have to know velocity to be able to lead the target. IE you can't shoot a guy 200 meters away with a bee-line shot from a MP40. Close range weapons, stay close range where rifles rule long range. Much more hardcore, much more realistic, much more rewarding. Idk, just a bunch of what you said seemed bias in this and some was even flat out wrong. EDIT: oh yeah, why the fuck bring BFV into this? That game shares one thing with these two, its set in WW2. (Though BFV is set in some fantasy land where no one is a Nazi, the Swastika didn't exist, the Iron Cross didn't mean the exact same thing as the Swastika, and a woman stopped the Nazis from getting the A-Bomb not a group of Freedom Fighters who sacrificed their lives)
You realize that the PS devteam basically had to remake a lot of the game whilst updating to UE 4.21 which significantly boosted the fps and overhauled several aspects of the graphics? I think it’s unfair that the PS devteam is slow on updates as only a week or so after this update they announced the french faction and they’ve been doing devblogs every week.
I play post scriptum, never bought hll. The engine update gave ps a good bump in performance and the game looks a lot better with TAA. And they're already starting on new theatres like france.
Persicopes recent update really sets the seal that PS is superior. Not only does it have more content but better atmosphere, animations, weapons, equipment and it overall captures the intensity of combat.
One thing HLL has that i'd love to see in PS. Crewable artillery cannons. Im an artilleryman and people in squad, PS and HLL underestimate the value of fire support. Im baffled to see no mortars et up and no guns being manned(IRL even some infantry units will neglect their forward observers and FSO's). I'd LOVE for their to be some sort of fire directions center in game, so a squad can be dedicated to artillery(can kinda do that in HLL) Seriously yall. We need more squads in HLL manning the cannons, and for PS and squad, its only two guys you need on mortars. Actually call out targets, have the mortars drop smoke(more effective than smoke grenades and dont have to wait forever like the commanders smoke that has like 4 a minute reload, which is unrealistic AF) Next time you get a 9 man squad, just have two man the mortars(or 3 the cannons in HLL), have one sniper who can help observe, 6 men with sniper cover and fire support can achieve so much. Act as supporting flank/support by fire for an assaulting squad. A guy in my unit played with people who actually communicated well in squad. His mortar section got 84 kills. Even if you arnt getting kills, you have the suppression effect. How man of yall have halted your squad because you heard incoming? Enemy tank rolled up? No AT or air support? Smoke his ass. Tank cant do shit when its blinded, he's either gonna push through(and hopefully AT or mines have showed up now) or back away.
The simple fact is HLL is more arcadish and is more accessible to new players. There’s a lot less to know about. This review was missing the entire vehicle mechanic aspect which would definitely put PS way in the lead.
I don't play PS yet, but I play Squad from the same developers. I can't sing their praises enough. They don't add content quickly, but they add it consistently and it's almost always stable and enjoyable. I expect the same road map from PS. They haven't once tried to get more cash from me, so I love them long time
Post Scriptum is far better IMO. I can only play HLL for an hour or so before I've had enough. The gunplay and movement still feel clunky to me. Also, the Chapter 2 release is nowhere near the first big update. Just the first one that opened a new front.
I played through many games in PS and it is very close to perfection in terms of simulation for which it has not so many competitors in the market. HLL is also fun but its bad sound design and a bit weird soldier animations prevent me play it over and over, for now. I am sure both animation and content updates will make HLL a very different game from the current one.
If one is offended by history, one has bigger issues than a controversial video game team feature. I'll start with that, but finish on a lighter note; Great review. I have watched some gameplay for both games but didn't really see any difference apart from the visual aspect, but other than that, it could've been the same game to me. But you picked 'em apart nicely and explained some differences, pros and cons and which game might fit which type of player. Well done and thank you.
@@obiwankenobi785 LOL I was being sincere my man. Dont be so quick to jump the im offended gun. I havent played HLL and you stated it had some updates so Im curious as to which is better now that HLL is fixing some of its issues. Jeez..

Post scriptum has a steep learning curve, but when you get into it, its fun. And its a great balance between arcady and too realistic. Hell let loose for me is basically a hardcore version of battlefield. They're both fun respectively, and are really fun if you know how to play them.
I never thought I'd be spoiled for awesome ww2 team-based shooters. Frankly, I'm glad there's competition. It'll do nothing but make both games even better!
Post Scriptum had regular updates since it release including new maps, vehicles, a new infantry class, game mode, and more until it went through the engine upgrade which took 6 months with almost no updates (gore being one of them) because the switch from 4.16 to 4.21 pretty much broke everything in the game. When 4.21 arrived it came with new sounds, textures, vegetation, animations, etc. Now that the engine upgrade is over the game has been receiving regular attention again from the developers and Chapter 2 is set to arrive soon. Good video nonetheless
thats a good news. I'm having a fear by that time that they don't give much of an update and i thought this game maybe will end up to be abandoned thats why i bought HLL since its pretty much potential.
Is PS making a comeback? I hope it becomes as popular as Squad because it's EPIC. I bought it pre-release and played when there were only limited testing weekends. Man, it was awesome. Then after launch they had an armor battle mode which I thought was incredible. One of the best FPS experiences Ive ever had. I think Ive got about 250 hours into this game. I want to get my friends playing it with me.
Hell let Loose give it a try . Played since Nintendo 64 video games . And the community and Fanbase is so great . They developed Things ingame the community realy want in the Game. Lg Alex
I chose Post Scriptum simply because I came in as a Squad veteran, and knowing that the game was made by the same developers, I probably would not have any problems with it, and I prefer it over Hell Let Loose
Why is playing waffen SS controversial? I can see that if you played an SS camp guard. But they were field army. By that logic playing a Red Army soldier or any German would be controversial. Its historical. To not include such soldiers from a sim is not historical and a little SJW cringy
Ok I agree put them in a game. but you should not put red army in same spectrum like SS, red army consisted of regular people, Soviets that were forced to fight because of the war if you think about red army you should think about regular german army by the end of the war, most of the soldiers in red army did not fight for communistic reason they fought because that is what you do when somebody invades your country and , just a regular working guys who did not chose to go to war, war simply chose them, same as germans that were forced to pick up arms when allies invaded Germany, SS however consisted of hardcore Nazis, that chose to be that. In my opinion regular armies of US/Germany/USSR, you should put in same box, but SS is a different beast on its own. But do they have place in PS, sure it adds to experience.
@@Tribalpotato Sure, the Red Army consisted of draftees, but they committed atrocities on-par with or I will even say more than the German SS troops so your point is invalid.
@@alaric3415 Source, you do not have any becaus what you say is a lie, if you just look at period of ww2 there is no country that did more crimes then germany, only japan comes close, so no red army did not commit more atrocites then german forces not even close just look at lost of countries that were hit by german war crimes and number of killed nothing comes even close to that.
I really like both games, but my problem in both of them (more in HLL) is how they handled the servers. HLL is the worst, i can barely go into a server at all
For me HLL takes it just because the devs are way more active in HLL. PS is slowly dying due to lack of updates, while it seems like every week HLL releases patch notes or talks about big updates.
Dont worry, PS is a game that does not need a huge player base. Project Reality lived for more than 10 years on a core group. Its more of a hobby playing games like these, than a jump in and play game.
I don't understand the people that tried both and still prefer HLL. HLL feels like a clunky mess that shouldn't even be out as a alpha yet or wtv it is atm. That's my opinion. About the sound, Post Scriptum > HLL, not even close. The only thing I think it's better in HLL is the world design and all the debris in the streets and shit like that, it's makes it look like a place thorn by war. But the PS newer maps are going in that direction and they're really good.
Did you realy just say HLL feels clunky compared to PS 😂 the whole reason i like HLL more is because movement and gun play is much better, PS makes you get stuck at stairs, doorways etc
HLL does feel clunky next to PS. The struggles i had getting out of a trench are just embarrassing. The guns feel like your not shooting them yourself, and when you jump a fence it is like they didnt even try. Dont forget, both studio's are working on the games doe about the same time.
PS has a great sound design, but I tend to lean towards HLL for the accuracy and detail. PS has made some pretty stupid errors in designing the uniforms. But it’s still a great game.
I wish developers would spend less time in competition with each other, and more time in collaboration. Imagine if these two developers worked together on one game, rather than these two separate ones. It would be amazing....
Hell let loose is a year behind the development of postscripts. Of course PS is more polished. I’m more concerned about PS’s drop in player numbers. They haven’t been marketing very well. They probably went to full release too soon. Comparing the two games is like watching a race between a young kid and a teenager. More Time will tell.
I personally think the main reason PS is slowly dying is because of the visuals. Both games use the same engine but HellLetLoose looks SO much better while both are equally draining for your system. And in a ww2 shooter experience, the visuals are a key. Everything in HLL feels so much more worked on and improved. PS feels like an unfinished beta world editor. Even though PS is in full release and HLL is still in early access.
I much prefer PS to HLL. HLL, in its current state, is very irritating to play. Because the game is so early on into development the mechanics are clunky and combat feels bad. PS had the ground works of Squad to build off of and so has fun, immersive and fluid combat. Going to be a while before I get back into HLL because I just can't enjoy the gun-play.
Saying PS only got it's first major update now is just a lie. I has gotten really big updates full of content like every month after the release. The reason why there was no update in the last 3 months was that they updated the game to the new engine, redesigned maps and worked on chapter 2.
You've never played in the PRBF community have you? Because the hardcore community of that are squad and post scriptum players not hll players, even as prbf was dying people would play and group up on servers and have hella fun there is rarely not enough players and believe you and me we'll just have a sale and keep playing on with a new big patch like oh idk 1940s France being added. :)
Can I play Prost scriptum without a mic kinda like the red orchestra series? Or is it something more like squad where I need to communicate with people all the time? I Love these types of games but I don’t wanna have to play like I’m a real soldier or something
A question I'd have, as somebody potentially coming into either of these games as a noob with the implosion of BFV, and not being particularly good at shooters in the first place...which game has the better and more welcoming community? The last thing I want to do is spend money on one of these games only to get mercilessly dragged because I'm not Audie Frigging Murphy right off the rip. In BF I've always been better at medic/support-style roles because I have potato aim and slow reflexes. Is there a place for this in either of these two games?
I can understand why playing as the SS would be controversial but the ss unit you play as is the 9th ss which as far as i know didn't commit warcrimes. So i have zero problem playing as them.
The developers of Post Scriptum are constantly updating the game since release. They added 2 new Maps in the first year with numerous Performance-, gameplay- updates and bug fixes. Main Goal was the 4.21 patch which skyrocket the game Performance and visuals. I would always prefer PS to HLL. To all HLL Players, who considers trying PS but are not sure. Trust me you wont regret it! If there is an epic, intensene and challenging expirence with WW2-theme, then its Post Scriptum!! #unpromoted #personalview #HLLtoPS
With the newest chapter 2 release, they actually added 7 new maps since release which makes PS now have 11 maps in total. And at least 5 more maps are planned for the future.
PS all the Way ist the new " RO Darkest Hour " in 2020. Many Vehicles and tanks , realistic Weapons and Sounds , way more Histroic Content and maps , way bigger Community and better graphics , no clunky movement like HLL. 2,052 In-Game right now in PS in mid Week. "even late time" Just this weekend up to 8000.
I prefer post scriptum because Im more likely to see my enemy at 100 yards. As for hell let loose the arcadey aspect of it, makes the game awkward and uncomfortable, not mention I can barely see my enemies at all untill within 50 yards most times. Post scriptum has in my opinion better, more forgiving and engaging world/map design. I've played both and i feel like im slightly regreting buying Hell let loose. When I play it i feel constantly held back by the movements, aiming, bullet physics. Sadly. I was really looking forward for HLL but post scriptum are picking up the pace now in terms of new content because they have been on a wild bug hunt and refining/polishing. Forgot to mention that teamwork is way more engaging in post scriptum than hell let loose. It's like 2 completely different communities.
I dont think post scriptum is about skill. It is more about teamwork, if you dont work together as an squad and team you will lose. You could go solo in hell let loose without that much of a penalty, as long as you push the objective.
Which one do you guys prefer and why?
Played both, prefer Hell Let Loose. Best balance between authentic and arcade imho.
HLL
I want both
Post scriptum tbh, I play both but PS has way better teamwork and communication.
When you have a good squad/team to run with there is nothing finer than PS. HLL is better for when you don't necessarily want to work with others, but may want a hint of co-operative play but mostly action.
How the HELL would ANYONE find it offensive to play as a SS soldier while on the German side, in a damn WW2 game??!!
My thought exactly. So dumb... maybe a liberal-leftist-communist-multiculti-snowflake-soyboy of some sort.
Man we are in a weird time. Everyone gets offended for every damn things nowadays.
@Han Lockhart If we look deeper. We know that everything we have learned about nazis, are of the enemy and their demonisation of germanic tribes.
I don't personally care, but I'm not sure why people have a hard time understanding what the issue issue with an organisation within the german army that was heavily involved in the holocaust...
It's like in reenactor groups "I can either dress up as say a german paratrooper or as an SS soldier, there can't possibly be any sort of moral difference between the two groups"
our patience will come to an end (:
Since the new big update Post Scriptum is my go to game. The slower and realistic gameplay is in my opinion much more fun. And don't get me started on the sound effects, PS has the best sound effects i've ever heard in a videogame.
Preach!! It's the superior game
salaminl1 I think that is what is PS USP, the sound effect especially when an artillery strike occurs is second to none
check out Hunt Showdown, you might like it
the sound effects gave me PTSD
It was awesome as a fan of old weapons to be able to identify enemies based off the sound of their specific weapons. Great work by the devs
Why would you play a WW2 game and not expect to play as the Nazis?
True
El Matadores so you think it is respectable to just forget that the SS was a major component in the Nazis war effort?
@El Matadores Well SS is a part of the history whatever you like it or not, and this is a historical game.

As a Battlefield fan, that was really let down by BF5, HLL is the game I've always wanted.
I love HLL
i think it looks better than PS because it is hard to see people with the smoke and destruction.
Yeah,I feel the same
Same.
HLL is aight if you want more fast passed action that isn’t a AAA game. PS is for more tactical gameplay for sure
@@langpascal stfu idiot
@@RoverWaters get your life together looser.
"Early access" is just a cover up game companies use these days to have an excuse for when games get glitchy.

@@trailoffiends post scriptum has also been out way longer than HLL so you can't really compare the two in terms of amount of content
Especially when it first came out, everybody could tell it was far from fully-released but the devs called it that for some reason and ended up paying for it in the reviews
to be fair PS had a huge head start since 75% of that game has Squad written all over it. while HLL is being develloped from scratch.
Very true.
HLL was started much earlier than PS, HLL development began in 2013, PS in 2016
I can not stress enough how much better the gun play of PS is. Sound design aswell ofc.
The sound design sounds like it's from roblox or some other shitty game

I first purchased HLL and really loved it, HLL has so much better world design, house interiors have props and looks like people lived there and its well balanced between arcade and mil sim. Then i recently bought PS and loved the sounds, effects, gunplay and animations. I have been playing PS since I bought it and HLL has faded away for now. After HLL impliments the new mocap animations, I will jump right back in : )
Fyi PS will be have house interiors soon in the next update
Yes as TacOperatorZero said, PS will have interior props in the new maps, and after that they will add them to the old maps too.
Post Scriptum is a superior game but it has to win the public relations battle.
i knew I will find you here 😜
Grunt after the newest update the optimization in ps has been ten times better then it used to be, and now there is a spike of new players that have gotten back into the game, I have played both games and I would say that if you like gritty hardcore ww2 games then ps is for you, but if you like more fast pace then hll is for you
Low ping server or Australian server availability - HLL
Graphic optimisation - HLL
Welcoming community - HLL
Achievement satisfaction - HLL
Regular update improvements and fixes - HLL
Realistic gameplay - PS
Realistic sounds - PS
No. of maps - PS
Tactical focus - PS
Very close call between both, but currently I give HLL the vote, this doesn't mean I won't change my mind.
Chapter 2 for PS is coming out soon
For the welcoming community when I first started in both games they where accepting and helped me along the way, but it is a lot harder to get good in ps then in hll
I think both games are nice BUT I always have way more fun in Post Scriptum. I don't think I've even launched HLL since I got PS.
Your right m8 battlefeild 5 hasent got the feel off a 2nd world war game
There was a cool game-mode for BF1 where everyone could only use bolt-action rifles. Was dead a week after introduction. Too sad.
6:15 in Hell Let Loose you can also play as Waffen SS. Just look at the left arm of a german Soldier (I don't know which map) there is an armband with “Goetz von Berlichingen“. This was the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division.
History Bricks actually it’s more of a hybrid. The insignia (breast eagle, collar tabs) is not SS, meanwhile the cuff title is SS.
Panzergrenadier Reenacting very strange, do you have an idea why it’s like that ?

Agreed with Tracer. Nothing controversial about playing the ss. It's just historically accurate. Like tracer said, then it should also be controversial to play a soviet in any game. You are a field soldier. Aside from that I like PS more. It's so emersive. They explained why they didnt release new content for a while. They wanted to focus on the engine update first. With the 4.21 Update Post Scriptum got revived, literally. On friday nights there are 10+ Full servers. That is much much more than it was before.
Post scriptum for me as a squad player. Tried HLL and couldnt get used to it.
Try it again, I couldn't get into it until I out 10-5 hours in. Now it's amazing
Hell Let Loose for the overall ambiance and graphics
PS is my vote more realistic and graphics are better imo
you all must be stupid
Very true
Yeah, im just not seeing the graphical advantages of Post Scriptum. the interiors of buildings look like Minecraft and the textures overall look like a Playstation game.
You must be high! HLL looks worlds better! PS environments look too copy/paste and lacks the seemlessness of HLL. The game just looks dated!
HLL looks better but worse at the same time. The graphics are clearly a lot better than PS but the HUD kinda takes you out of it.
Omg i love this i played 36 hours of Arma and kept leaving because of the frame drops. I have being wanting to buy a Ww2 shooter then squad.
PS. Seems more realistic and the sound is by far way better than HLL.
From what I've seen of PS it seems like the better game in my opinion, hell let loose is fun but it isn't as brutal
It isnt as brutal?! Are you for real dude, i own both and i can guarantee you, that HLL is brutal to the max, it is not called HLL for no reason

Post scriptum all the way, the sounds are so good 😍
so good that i got flashbacks
Im pretty sure HLL is about to overhaul the sounds
Yes, HLL plays very similar to the RO/RS series.
HLL is faster paced.
@@Frobbl any updates?
I almost think it's a shame that both these games came along at similar times because they are clearly splitting what is already a fairly small player base. However, if they are anything like Rising Storm 2, despite being considered small communities there is always a number of a good full servers to choose from.
I've not played either but I would hazard a guess post scriptum has a bit of a toxic community like squad and PR do.
this. 👆 11/10

Theres something weird about the gunplay in HLL that makes it feel weird and stuttery. The sniping gameplay at 7:01 illustrates this more. Hopefully this will improve.
Nope. It was his high-pinged internet I've played HLL and sniper doesn't work like that. The sniper needs to be advanced not direct.
Post Scriptum is just ww2 squad, which is a better game than all of them, so I definitely prefer PS. HLL is just too in between and arcadey. If I wanted more arcadey I'd just go for BFV, much better.
Apparantly it is the perfect balance between arcade and mil sim, why else is it so popular?
PS has absolute freedom of every map which i like
The best thing about post scriptum is that you can walk freely without access restrictions
If I build a pc next year, I'll get both, because I want to see both of them succeed.
I need more options on the market if I plan on giving up Battlefield 5.
I built my pc this summer, got both the games and havnt touched my xbox since.
It's like the opposite, you get adrenaline rush and you pay more attention. lol.
Yeah. They need to do something different to represent suppression.
As someone who has come from squad id say ps is the first choice. Just the declining player count and fear of finding nobody who is willing to use a mic and communicate is holding me back. Next time it's on sale though ill pick it up because the only way the game will grow is if people like me fork over the money and finally hop into a server.
PS is growing, HLL was dead when I bought it a few days ago and tried to jump in a game
@@kpgpwi64 What? HLL was way more concurrent players than PS

Even with 4.21 I still cant get 60 fps even on the lowest settings. i5 6500 / gtx 1070 / 16gb ram
I'd LOVE for their to be some sort of fire directions center in game, so a squad can be dedicated to artillery(can kinda do that in HLL)
Seriously yall. We need more squads in HLL manning the cannons, and for PS and squad, its only two guys you need on mortars.
Actually call out targets, have the mortars drop smoke(more effective than smoke grenades and dont have to wait forever like the commanders smoke that has like 4 a minute reload, which is unrealistic AF)
Next time you get a 9 man squad, just have two man the mortars(or 3 the cannons in HLL), have one sniper who can help observe, 6 men with sniper cover and fire support can achieve so much.
You forgot to mention how more than 3/4th of the HLL community doesn't communicate
Yeah that's why I go with PS coming from RS2V
The simple fact is HLL is more arcadish and is more accessible to new players. There’s a lot less to know about. This review was missing the entire vehicle mechanic aspect which would definitely put PS way in the lead.
I don't play PS yet, but I play Squad from the same developers. I can't sing their praises enough. They don't add content quickly, but they add it consistently and it's almost always stable and enjoyable. I expect the same road map from PS. They haven't once tried to get more cash from me, so I love them long time
I don’t think one game is better than the other. I love them both and they both have positives and negatives.
I've only ever played Post Scriptum, but Hell Let Loose just seems like a large scale Day of Imfamy. It's a gateway drug for Post Scriptum.
I'll start with that, but finish on a lighter note;
Great review. I have watched some gameplay for both games but didn't really see any difference apart from the visual aspect, but other than that, it could've been the same game to me.
But you picked 'em apart nicely and explained some differences, pros and cons and which game might fit which type of player.
Well done and thank you.
In HLL, to me, the movement just feels so stiff and limited. PS movement feels a lot smoother and more free.
This is updated now...

Post scriptum has a steep learning curve, but when you get into it, its fun. And its a great balance between arcady and too realistic.
Hell let loose for me is basically a hardcore version of battlefield.
They're both fun respectively, and are really fun if you know how to play them.
took me about 55 hours to get into the game and since then its awesome
In PS or Squad you'll have to communicate otherwise you won't have a good time dying constantly
I never thought I'd be spoiled for awesome ww2 team-based shooters. Frankly, I'm glad there's competition. It'll do nothing but make both games even better!
Lmao the sight on the M1 Garand at the start it hilarious. Like a hula hoop 😂
they just updated it, used to be the exact same as a real M1, but people complained about the peep sights being too small....
Lg Alex
I bought Hell let loose yesterday, because of the regular updates. That's what for me makes an indie early access multiplayer worth buying.
Imagine attributing morals to playing a faction in a videogame xD
@@Tribalpotato stfu, no one cares
PS is slowly dying due to lack of updates, while it seems like every week HLL releases patch notes or talks about big updates.
ps just released a huge patch and numbers are increasing
@@Lionsdale45 but it took them how long? I'll take the game that actually has an active dev team.
Dont worry, PS is a game that does not need a huge player base. Project Reality lived for more than 10 years on a core group. Its more of a hobby playing games like these, than a jump in and play game.
Michael Martin they release updates and news on their discord constantly
Michael Martin and its about what game is better.. and thats ps right now but to each their own of course
@@TheSaintArmando What I meant by clunky were the character animations. I thought they were quite bad.
HLL does feel clunky next to PS. The struggles i had getting out of a trench are just embarrassing. The guns feel like your not shooting them yourself, and when you jump a fence it is like they didnt even try. Dont forget, both studio's are working on the games doe about the same time.
PS now has France 1940 and it's awesome
I would much rather play PS, more factions, bigger maps and more communication
I admire both games but I just really like the simulation part of Post Scriptum better and so the weapon sounds
Great review, though it would have been nice if you dwelled more in to the vehicles of both games.
Aussies aren't populating the only PS server. Squad and Heel Let Loose is taking the players, I'm guessing
HLL is just a disabled brother of PS
look at the graphics of PS so cringy lol
@@henrifortier8621 ruclips.net/video/iQHNdx5UsNE/видео.html did you even bother to play both games ?
Saying PS only got it's first major update now is just a lie. I has gotten really big updates full of content like every month after the release. The reason why there was no update in the last 3 months was that they updated the game to the new engine, redesigned maps and worked on chapter 2.
I got the feeling that many PS players moan about HLL because they are in fear that PS is dying slowly and HLL drawing players from their game...

You'll better go with Post Scriptum, its more finished and teamwork is more executed! :D
HLL feels and plays like a console game compared to PS.
"even late time"
Just this weekend up to 8000.
