      I actually prefer the beef noodles a street behind Lai Foong REstaurant. The style of cooking is slightly different and I think it is really special. The restaurant is called Soong Kee, it is next door to the Maybank. If you still have time in KL you can go try it too.

    In Malaysia you can find many types of anchovies. Some of them, after well fried, can get really crunchy and some are hard to chew. The cook has to know which is which to complement their nasi lemak and everything else.

    Been watching your Thailand videos & it has been a big help for a walking tourist like me! A big thank you. 😊
    Ahh...RM200 for an imitation perfume from Petaling Street?Wow you really made the day of those sellers. That shall only cost them RM20-40 tops from stock (or even less).Petaling Street vendors are now mostly foreign nationals from the south Asian region (though the businesses are surely owned by locals in the background).
    Also Kopi Cham is not a 'national drink' for Malaysia that title goes to teh tarik (most probably you have already read that from the comments in here since the vlog is like a month old now). Kopi cham is available only in some traditional chinese & malay coffee shops...not that popular...even myself at 53 yrs old only had that drink once by accident recently on my short trip transiting in Ipoh.

Many more good food to try like Laksa, Hokkien Mee, Cendol, Tandoori Chicken, Rojak, Nasi Kerabu, Satay, Char Koay Teow, claypot style food- e.g. claypot lao shu fen, etc Btw the three main races are Malay, Chinese and Indian. We are all Malaysian. Cham in Kopi Cham means mixed not tea. Teh means tea. Durian is very expensive because it takes many years to ripe and it’s scare, have short shelf life and not easy to transport and above all it’s perceived as the treasure in Asia especially southeast Asians 😂

    Talking about kopi cham. ‘Cham’ basically means mixed, and it is understood mixing coffee with tea.
    If you see soya bean milk/drink stall, and if they have some other dark looking drink call grass jelly drink as well, u can also order as ‘Cham’ and it’s a mixed between these two beverage.
    P.s. if you want it less sweet, you can request for less sugar, or ‘kurang manis’ in Malay
    P.s.s. Some stalls may understand the cheekiness if you order the drink as Michael Jackson. Because of his song Black or White (getit?!) lol

    Teh is milk tea and kopi is coffee. Cham comes from a Hokkien (a local Chinese dialect) word which means mixture. Coincidentally, the Malay word for mixing is called campur (pronounced like cham-pur). In Chinese eateries like kopitiam, cham means coffee mixed with milk tea. Welcome to Malaysia, Mickey!

    I'm glad you got it right.
    Alot of people especially some western food blogger misunderstands that Malaysian food is just the Malay food (Nasi lemak, Satay, etc) in Malaysia. And ignore the Chinese (Chicken rice, variety of soup noodles, etc) and Indian (Roti canai, naan, etc etc)Malaysian food.
    Also, petaling street may be called China town in the past, but it is no longer for us local Caz it is now running by foreign workers 90% of the store. Most people you saw there are Bangladesh or Myanmar, and alot of them are illegal immigrants.
    There are still some Chinese stall there, but not alot are left.
    Mostly due to younger gens not inheriting the stall and just sell them after the old one either retired or passes away.

    Firstly, I'd like to say WELCOME to Malaysia. I'm surprised tho, you've resided in Thailand for over a decade and this the first time you visit Malaysia?.... Now, just some observations... At the beef noodle stall, which is supposed to be legendary (I must say I have not personally eaten there), the accompanying chili sauce is meant to be a dipping sauce, or you may add some sauce to a spoonful of noodles/beef to go with it. BUT to each their own. Next time, try using it as a dipping sauce, same as ALL the rest of the noodle dishes you'd try while in M'sia, they're dipping sauce to enhance the flavor. Next, whatever you paid for the perfume is already too much. ALMOST ALL things along Petaling Street are fake, including perfumes. But I guess you knew that. PERSONALLY, again, I stress, PERSONALLY I'd never shop for perfumes there. I'd buy it at a mall, based on the price you paid, it's probably not far from the real thing in an actual departmental store. Now, must recommend some must try food items while in Malaysia. Chow Kuey Teow, with shrimps, and cockles (blood clams) and some bean sprouts and chives, a Malaysian discovery. The Malaysian Satay, which is basically marinated meat on a skewer BBQ'd to perfection, served with a good dollop of peanut/ground nut sauce. Now, Satay IS NOT a M'sian origin, as meat is skewered on sticks ALL OVER THE WORLD, BUT the Marinade style, the flavor, is UNIQUE to M'sia. The list goes on, but really, Malaysia is filled with great street and small restaurant food ALL OVER, 24/7! So, enjoy your stay! If you need some suggestion, if there's a PM function in youtube, lemme know, I'd be glad to "suggest".

    • @WENG0407
      @WENG0407 Год назад +1

      NOW, let's talk about places to visit. I'd tell myself, IF I HAD an overseas friend coming to M'sia, where would I bring them? WELL, to begin with, there are a few places which I think they should visit. In no order of preference, the following are a few. Batu Caves! It's a cave with a few hundred steps up into a hill cave which is also a Hindu temple. Every year, thousands if not tens of thousands Hindu devotees (in January) on Thaipusam day, will carry out a ritual, carrying kavadee's from a Hindu temple in Petaling street (The Sri Mahamariamman Temple) and walk in large congregation to Batu Caves, probably 10-15 km, as a sign of worship, to seek blessings, to fulfill vows and offer thanks. It's a huge festival with pretty scary stuff, devotees getting into trance, dance away, some with their backs pierced with hooks, dragging the kavadees (float like deities) on that journey to Batu Caves. Tho it isn't Thaipusam now, Batu Caves is well worth a visit. Other places you have to see with your own eyes, the Petronas Twin Towers, the KL Lake Gardens (within moderate walking distance from where Petaling Street is), if possible the Lakeside Putrajaya Mosque, the Kuala Selangor Fireflies Sanctuary (an hour plus from KL) for a NIGHT visit.... There ya go, IF you have the time and the resources to do so, a few places which in my books, where I'd bring an overseas friend.
