- We visited the Cincinnati Museum Center to see their new Made in Cincinnati exhibit. The museum staff reached out to me to ask if they could use some of my machining video footage in the exhibit which I happily approved. The video used helps the visitors to see the lathe, mill and shaper in action while learning about the industrial heritage of Cincinnati's manufacturing history. Not only was this exhibit wonderful, the entire museum is very impressive! It's a great place to spend a day!

That's what I was thinking too Adam. There's a ton of footage on manual machining operations out there..... And probably much of it could have been shot right there in Cincinnati, considering how industrial they were. And yet it was your footage -- beautifully shot by Abby -- that they chose to use for their display. THAT SAYS SOMETHING!
I think that your dad and your grandfather would be greatly pleased in the fact that you made it to be in a museum I think that’s great and I think they would believe that too.
Adam, I wanted you to know my son just had an outing at that museum this past Thursday. I showed him this video, which he wasn't much interested in until you showed the title of your video on the screen. I had planned on taking him but his mother beat me to it. He sat here and watched the entire video with me, pretty well stoked that a guy I follow on YT was at a place where he had been. Great video.

Wow....! Who would have thought, a guy from Pensacola, a third generation machinist, who made some videos in this shop and at work... would have those videos displayed in a museum. It make me proud and excited as a long time viewer of the channel, and I know it must be an awesome feeling for ya'll to actually see your work displayed there. So proud of you....! So I have a PhD in art history and I regularly watch your videos because they are informative and well made. I learn all sorts of things about metalworking even though that is not my job, but because it helps me understand the world I live in. It also gives me lot to think about work and craft. I’m glad we both appreciate each other’s universe! This Cincinnati museum reminds me a lot of the Ottawa museum of science and technology. It’s very kid-friendly and it has lots of cool machines, from the gramophone to steam locomotives.

Congratulations Adam. How cool that this museum selected your videos to be used in their display. For me, it was even more cool seeing the Machining Heavy Metal video which was the very video that got me started binge watching your channel. RUclips then suggested other creators like Lyle, the two Randy’s, two Keiths, and many others. Before I knew it, I was hooked and searching for machines and tools to make my own little shop. Now, owning a lathe and mill provides a chance to scratch some creative itch and brings many hours of enjoyable machine projects. Never would have happened had it not been for creators like you willing to share and teach the craft. Can’t help but wonder how many others have been inspired by you and the rest of the RUclips machining community. Thank you so much for doing what you do!
That building is an art deco masterpiece
Thanks, brings back so many memories. My Dad worked there as an electrician in the 50's and 60's, and to me it was like a second home as I grew up.

What a well deserved honor! I know the train station very well. In the 50's and 60's, I rode the "L&N Hummingbird" from Cincinnati to Montgomery and back many times. I think there are only 7 of the great Art Deco stations still standing. I am so glad that Cincinnati valued it's history enough to preserve it! It seems very appropriate to have your work be a part of that history! Congratulations Adam and keep up the great work!
It was never mentioned during this video - the station is still in use for Amtrak trains. There is a very limited line that goes up to Chicago. Wish Ohio and Amtrak would get together and restore the three C train line some day.

Well it only makes sense. First you’re gonna want to show the actual operation of machines that are pertinent to what us being shown. You’re going to want video with top shelf production and editing. I don’t know of anyone who does all that better than Adam Booth. He’s there because he deserves to be there.

My father retired from "The Mill" after 42 years. He worked at several different locations, finally retiring from the Oakley Products division. It was once a great company to work for. It put a lot of food on a lot of tables in the city and the surrounding counties. I worked at the Oakley grinding wheel plant (products) in the late 90s. That was really the beginning of the end. I started out inspecting grinding wheels, then moved into the finish machining of them. Really simple lathe and milling operations. A lot of memories! A lot of people know someone who's worked for Milacron. Well done Sir.

Nice job Adam I remember watching those videos when you made them. Your Grandpa and Dad would be so proud of you. I got to meet you a few years ago in Independence Mo. I’m from Mo. and have watch your channel from the beginning. You are a damn good machinist and even a better person, it’s been nice to see how your life has changed over the years. It’s obvious that Abby is truly proud of you and you two are great together and that’s another thing to be proud of so stick to your goals and keep up the good work.

It's truly amazing how better a building is when its designed with quality building materials and artistic features in mind. I couldn't imagine that building, it's design, the layout it serves and so forth being engineered any better today than this one was in the 1930's. Surely the pride in craftsmanship wouldn't exist today by any means.

After the decline of train travel the place fell into disrepair. They could not find anyone who wanted or could use the building and it was almost torn down. Then the Natural History Museum stepped up and moved in just in time to spare the wrecking ball. A bunch more of the murals were saved and moved to the Greater Cincinnati Airport and put on display there during there major remolding. They are smaller but much more interesting. When you come out of the museum and were to turn left, just 5 miles up the road is where Carlton Machine---Lodge and Shipley---Gilbert Machine and a few others were located. Just 10 minutes up I-71 was Cincinnati Milling Machine and R k Leblond were locater and both are torn down and are now shopping centers. Just 10 minutes away on the other side of town is where American Tool Works was, home of your Pacemaker. At one time Cincinnati was one of largest producers of tooling (and beer) in the world until the foreign countries took over. I drove a truck in Cincinnati for 46 years and have made deliveries to all of them. Also my grandfather was a machinist and I still have a few of his tools some of which are around 100 years old.

very cool video. i grew up in Cincinnati and my dad worked at Cincinnati Milacron for years. before it was known as Cincinnati Milling Machine. they were located in Oakley not to far from the museum. i got to tour the main buildings back when i was a lot younger. He was a electrical engineer and helped design all the control panels for the machines.
They completed a renovation a few years ago. I worked there as an electrician. Above the ceiling in the dome, I sighed the steal structure next to some from the original construction.

Welcome to Cincinnati! (my back yard) If you ever happen to fly into/out of CVG - there are several more tile Murals/mosaics installed in baggage claim area that were saved from the demolition of the old railroad concourse at Cincinnati Union Terminal. You technically do not have to fly though CVG, as baggage claim is on the 'non-secure' side of the airport, so you can just walk in and check them out. There are several more (9 of them I believe) visible from outside of the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati. Look up 'Winold Reiss industrial murals' for more historical details.
FWIW: The company I work at, used to cast lathe beds for R.K. LeBlond back when we had a foundry.

It's great to see how the building was restored. When I was there in 1968, it was starting to get run down, but it's amazing to see it now.

The quality of the exhibits looked pretty high (enhanced no doubt by the Abom video footage) and the homage paid to the designers, engineers and businessmen who came before us is well deserved.
Little thought is often given to the machines that built the machines that built the machines.

I "grew up" in Cincinnati. I came here around 4th grade and went through The nature museum side. I came back as an adult for meetings of the Miles Greenwood Society and the Omni Max.. it's amazing the number of manufacturers in and around Cincy. Just about anything you can imagine was made hear. I still live in Clermont County just East of here.
