My favorite part about this channel is that there's no music in the videos. It's so nice watching great compilations like this without some horrible rap song playing over it. Good job man, keep it up
3:06 , One of the best Moments in Phillies History. Not that we have many LOL. It was awesome to see something that rare happen to my Phillies! Will never forget it.... Go Phillies!
i remember the cain-hamels game was on national television. looking at the clips, though, it definitely looks like a phillie broadcast. cain: "uh oh, cain drives one to left. that one is gone." hamels: "THATS HIT DEEP TO RIGHT, THAT ONE IS GOOOOONE!!! COLE HAMELS HITS A HOME RUN!"
+Larry Watanabe I remember watching that game live thinking what a joke. Makes me so grateful to have the Giants' announcers, because so many others are garbage. If Kruk and Kuip called it, both would be exciting and you couldn't tell which team they were broadcasting for
+Larry Watanabe lol everybody thinks their home broadcast is the best. I live in philly and can't stand listening to anything other than philly broadcasts. It's just how it is...
+Larry Watanabe The reason he chose the Philly broadcast was because they talked about revenge. I am a Phillies fan, but I hate the Phillies announcers. I always prefer a national broadcast
You forgot Earl Wilson, starting pitcher Boston Red Sox, 1960's. He hit 3 home runs in one game and came within inches , hitting high off the green monster.. of hitting one out for the 4th time
Zavier Morin This was the 60's Zavier! The DH did not start till 1973. Before that, all pitchers batted. If they pinch hit for them, they had to leave the game. They need to go back to these rules. The DH sucks and I am happy the National League never succumbed to that. Its like having 10 players in a 9 man game. Stupid
The first clips of Cain and Hammels both getting Home Runs in the same game... I remember watching that on TV and the "National" broadcast announcers were a joke. Listen to how they call Cain's HR vs Hammels.
I was a closer when I pitched, there is no greater feeling than going up 1 or 1 more run, it just takes away a lot of the anxiety you feel on the mound. The more relaxed I was the easier it was for me to perform well.
People shouldn't be surprised. Many pitchers, when they were young, were the best athletes on their team. But, as they ascend professional baseball, they get fewer chances to take at bats. One pitcher especially comes to mind, Babe Ruth.
When I was a pitcher my batting avg. was terrible but I did have very good homerun power, my last coach would tell me to help my own cause before I went to bat. Hitting a homer was what he was talking about!
Jason Schmidt (SF) hit one off Jose Lima (LAD) with a pitch sailing into Jason. As he spun to evade the pitch, his bat also twisted and hit the ball barely clearing the left died fence. It was the farther thing from a home run swing i'd ever seen. Lima was seen fuming in the dugout mimicking the swing to his teammate with an expression of disbelief.
I love how when Tom McCarthy broadcasted for Fox he didnt show any excitement for Cain hitting a Homer but when Hamels did it he was ecstatic lol he knows who he really calls games for
Wow that first clip... "Cain hits if back, it's going.... Annnddd that'll be a honerun. Always disappointing to give that up as a pitcher" "AND COLE GETS A HOLD OF THIS ONE OH MAN ITS ITS GONE! WOW PAYBACK!!
Did anyone notice that in the St. Louis vs. Milwaukee when St. Louis gets their home run the commentators say the ball isn't coming back it bounces back onto the field?
zambrano was old school good, that btw was his last, number 24 as a pitcher, # 9 all time. he hit 6 in one year, 3 off the record. interestingly babe ruth in 1919, (his last year with the red sox) won 9 games as a pitcher and broke a mlb record with 29 home runs. apparently he didn't hit them while pitching because he isn't in the top 30 of home runs hit by a pitcher.
Andrew Edelson Yea! I loved having him on the dbacks, 5th spot starter, not that great but it was cool having a pitcher who was also like a DH, when he would start it was like the dbacks were in the AL for that day haha!
I remember when Darren Dreifort hit two home runs in a game against the Cubs. The 2nd homer was one of the farthest home runs I've seen hit at Dodger Stadium.
Vicky Kelder did you read what I wrote? Babe was the greatest hr hitting pitcher bar none. But Micky Lolich's hr in the 1968 is the greatest hr by a pitcher. do you unerstand yet
The Cain/Hamels one is crazy, as well as Big Joe Blanton in such an important game. And the reason for the bias is the fact that it's the commentators for the local networks. It's not like a national broadcast.
It's because Tom McCarthy who was doing the national broadcast is the voice of the Phillies on CSN Philadelphia. Not sure what he was doing on FOX Sports
Steven Matz gave up a home run to his first ever batter. Imagine if a pitcher gave up a home run to his first batter and that batter was a rookie making his debut.
@2:21"....and that one's not coming back!"
(ball bounces back into outfield)
ikr
2:23 "the ball isn't coming back" the ball goes back on the field
2:20 "That ones not comin back!"
Ball bounces back into the field
@ BronxBomber42:
Great editing job here! I really enjoyed watching these pitchers belting home runs.
"Looks like this is going to be a quick pitchers duel"
Well he wasn't wrong.
Lol tru
Dontrelle Willis's swing was so sweet.
Best baseball channel on RUclips
I guess you haven't seen dodgerfilms
This isn't the 90s..back then pitchers couldn't even bunt. Now they're hitting homeruns!! I love it.
Bunting is a skillset within itself, it's hard to bunt, don't take it lightly and think it's easy because it isn't.
Naive....it's the roids.
Greg Cunningham
Yeah, because Bronson Arroyo's totally on the juice, man...
Greg Cunningham or maybe they've just gotten better at hitting
***** or maybe the pitchers arent as good at pitching
LOL! "Cliff you've taken other pitchers deep in your career". I bet he did...
Cliff Lee has 2 career home runs.
My favorite part about this channel is that there's no music in the videos. It's so nice watching great compilations like this without some horrible rap song playing over it. Good job man, keep it up
Or horrible hard rock bullshit
First hit as a pitcher is a home run? Pretty sweet. Also the majestic helmet removal at the end was pretty great too.
Wow, that first clip. Great commentary there, guys.
MaximumSpiderMvC my thoughts exactly.
MaximumSpiderMvC they obviously aren't part of the giants band wagon
That was pretty lack luster
3:06 , One of the best Moments in Phillies History. Not that we have many LOL. It was awesome to see something that rare happen to my Phillies! Will never forget it.... Go Phillies!
thx for uploading this, bb42, i love to see pitchers homer
Yesterday's Giants game, Buster Posey (Catcher) and Madison Bumgarner (Pitcher) hit a Grand Slam!
***** Let's go Giants!
cool
i remember the cain-hamels game was on national television. looking at the clips, though, it definitely looks like a phillie broadcast.
cain: "uh oh, cain drives one to left. that one is gone."
hamels: "THATS HIT DEEP TO RIGHT, THAT ONE IS GOOOOONE!!! COLE HAMELS HITS A HOME RUN!"
+Larry Watanabe I remember watching that game live thinking what a joke. Makes me so grateful to have the Giants' announcers, because so many others are garbage.
If Kruk and Kuip called it, both would be exciting and you couldn't tell which team they were broadcasting for
+Steven Schiro well, if it was on national tv like that game was. k&k are professionals, unlike the piece of shit phillie crew.
+Larry Watanabe lol everybody thinks their home broadcast is the best. I live in philly and can't stand listening to anything other than philly broadcasts. It's just how it is...
Clayton Zechman yeah, i get that. but when this happens on national tv, i take offense to it.
+Larry Watanabe The reason he chose the Philly broadcast was because they talked about revenge. I am a Phillies fan, but I hate the Phillies announcers. I always prefer a national broadcast
Joe Blanton's home run was the first in a World Series by a pitcher since Ken Holzman in 1974. And Joey Bag 'O Donuts crushed it.
Congrats on 100k!
Pitchers be like, you don't give me run support I will just do it myself
Lmao
That pitcher at 2:42 is such a savage
The 8bitgamer the d train(dontrelle willis)
Willis can hit. We used to use him as a pinch hitter quite a bit back in the day.
2:23 "And that one's not coming back"
*ball bounces over the fence back on to the field*
Yea I saw that comment about 12 times already
"..and that one's not coming back!" *bounces back onto the field*
You forgot Earl Wilson, starting pitcher Boston Red Sox, 1960's. He hit 3 home runs in one game and came within inches , hitting high off the green monster.. of hitting one out for the 4th time
These are 21st century
How is that possible, there are DH's and if it was IN BOSTON then he would home field, meaning he was using american league rules, ie a DH.
Zavier Morin
This was the 60's Zavier! The DH did not start till 1973. Before that, all pitchers batted. If they pinch hit for them, they had to leave the game. They need to go back to these rules. The DH sucks and I am happy the National League never succumbed to that. Its like having 10 players in a 9 man game. Stupid
Alizee Defan
Zavier Morin The DH did not exist until 1973.
Greg Gibson, the home plate umpire is mot.. oh wait nevermind.
lol
I Love MLB It's My Favorite Sport!
I miss Dontrelles crazy leg kick and his hitting skills. Hopefully we get someone like him soon.
One thing I always like seeing when a pitcher hits a homer is his team's dugout. Teammates just love it when the pitcher homers.
The first clips of Cain and Hammels both getting Home Runs in the same game... I remember watching that on TV and the "National" broadcast announcers were a joke. Listen to how they call Cain's HR vs Hammels.
Damn, Adam wainwright has a nice swing for a pitcher
I love this stuff, pitchers don't hit them often, but damn do they hit them far when they do.
Willis actually looked like a hitter.
JiveDadson Ya
I was a closer when I pitched, there is no greater feeling than going up 1 or 1 more run, it just takes away a lot of the anxiety you feel on the mound. The more relaxed I was the easier it was for me to perform well.
People shouldn't be surprised. Many pitchers, when they were young, were the best athletes on their team. But, as they ascend professional baseball, they get fewer chances to take at bats. One pitcher especially comes to mind, Babe Ruth.
2:46 "What you talkin bout, Willis?" LOL
I haven't gotten through the video yet but the best is when Wainwright homers on his first at bat
I was there during that game, the one was launched. And I agree with you
No it's hammels and the other pitchers
Wow Dontrelle Willis looks like a natural hitter with that swing...
The d train baby
His career could've been saved if he was converted into an outfielder.
Zambrano is a great hitter,I've been to multiple games where they've used him as pinch hitter too
Willis was one of the best hitting pitchers I have ever seen
nothing more exciting then pitchers hitting home runs , especially when its a 1% chance they'll even get a solid hit
When I was a pitcher my batting avg. was terrible but I did have very good homerun power, my last coach would tell me to help my own cause before I went to bat. Hitting a homer was what he was talking about!
Love your videos. I can tell you are an avid baseball fan.
This is why the designated hitter rule is just WRONG WRONG WRONG! I've been sayin' it since 1973.
Dave Mitchell It's very wrong. Hideo Nomo threw a no-hitter in Colorado and hit an RBI. Won't get that with the DHR.
Dave Mitchell Edgar Martinez.
Carolyn Stalter Edgar played !B when the Mariners were in NL parks.
Shut up old man. No one wants to watch a pitcher hit .150 for a year. Offense is much more exciting with an actual hitter hitting.
I can see good reasons for either leagues rules, I just want them to choose one for both of them.
Love the obvious announcer bias in the first two clips. It really warms my heart to see announcers play favorites on national TV.
I loved Bronson Arroyo when he was on the Red Sox, he inspired my windup
I love how when Tom McCarthy broadcasted for Fox he didnt show any excitement for Cain hitting a Homer but when Hamels did it he was ecstatic lol he knows who he really calls games for
Right! He is so biased in his commentary
+Jackson Aguilar its because he the Phillies play by play guy and as a Phillies fan i like that hes still in favor if the Phils
Bumgarner has hit so many :P
Wow that first clip...
"Cain hits if back, it's going.... Annnddd that'll be a honerun. Always disappointing to give that up as a pitcher" "AND COLE GETS A HOLD OF THIS ONE OH MAN ITS ITS GONE! WOW PAYBACK!!
0:20 "Well Cliff, you've taken other pitchers deep in your career."
This one will be for the youngins:
Tony Cloninger, a pitcher, hit TWO grand slams for the Braves vs. San Fran back in the 60's. In ONE game.
I like how half of these pitchers run the bases like "phtttt whatever I hit a homerun, no big deal"
I honestly think the Adam Wainwright would be an above average mob hitter if he hit everyday
Hamels has a great swing!
2:43 .. But that Batflip doe!
I love that Tom McCarthy even when he is broadcasting for Fox calls the game as if hes calling it for the Phillies
2:22 "And that one's not coming back" *comes back*
Did anyone notice that in the St. Louis vs. Milwaukee when St. Louis gets their home run the commentators say the ball isn't coming back it bounces back onto the field?
I can't stop laughing at this
Willis' swing is beautiful especially for a pitcher 2:55
0:50 Damn that's a good ass swing for a pitcher
They should have a home run derby for the pitchers to 😂💪
Add Madison's 2 homeruns in 2014, one of his HR's was a grand slam off de la rosa.
In a game of MLB 08 The Show, I hit a walk off home run with Justin Verlander
Mike Hampton is tied for second for most hrs in a season by a pitcher with 7. Amazing..
zambrano was old school good, that btw was his last, number 24 as a pitcher, # 9 all time. he hit 6 in one year, 3 off the record. interestingly babe ruth in 1919, (his last year with the red sox) won 9 games as a pitcher and broke a mlb record with 29 home runs. apparently he didn't hit them while pitching because he isn't in the top 30 of home runs hit by a pitcher.
the NL is magical
No Micha Owings?
I know! Hit a grand slam a few years back. He can just flat out hit.
Andrew Edelson
Yea! I loved having him on the dbacks, 5th spot starter, not that great but it was cool having a pitcher who was also like a DH, when he would start it was like the dbacks were in the AL for that day haha!
Don't worry, part two is coming soon !
Nice name
eric harper
lol thanks man, you too!
I remember when Darren Dreifort hit two home runs in a game against the Cubs. The 2nd homer was one of the farthest home runs I've seen hit at Dodger Stadium.
I want to see American League pitchers hitting home runs should be a 30 sec video
Video idea: AL Pitchers hitting HRs.
The greatest hr by a pitcher ever was Micky Lolich's hr in the 68 world series & it was his only hr. plus he won 3 games in the world series.
What about babe he was a pitcher
Vicky Kelder did you read what I wrote? Babe was the greatest hr hitting pitcher bar none. But Micky Lolich's hr in the 1968 is the greatest hr by a pitcher. do you unerstand yet
I want to see a compilation of American League pitchers hitting dingers.
You should do one with just American League pitchers. You could start with the grand slam Felix Hernandez hit.
I was at the game where matt cain and cole hamels hit their homeruns
wainwright looks like any other big league hitter up there. He's got a nice swing.
Dontrelles with that super stroke
Waino is the best hitting pitcher in MLB history...
2:42 that Dontrelle Willis swing tho
The Cain/Hamels one is crazy, as well as Big Joe Blanton in such an important game. And the reason for the bias is the fact that it's the commentators for the local networks. It's not like a national broadcast.
No I remember watching it live. That was the national broadcast
Ronin
Ahh you're right. But they are still the Phillies announcers because I've watched them on the Phillies network for years. xD
It's because Tom McCarthy who was doing the national broadcast is the voice of the Phillies on CSN Philadelphia. Not sure what he was doing on FOX Sports
My favorite all-time pitcher home run: Chris Carpenter's grand slam off of Kip Wells at Cincinatti.
One word... Ruth
Bartolo Colon brought me here...
Steven Matz gave up a home run to his first ever batter. Imagine if a pitcher gave up a home run to his first batter and that batter was a rookie making his debut.
2:41 That pimp job by the D Train hahaha #PitchersWhoRake
0:20 - "Well Cliff you've taken other pitchers deep." Not sure I want to hear about that!
nice way to start it off
now you should make a new video about pitchers hitting home runs and put Bartolo Colon as the finale
Zambrano hit a bomb. damn
3:07 Thanks for that...
Sucks that AL pitchers hardly go through this awesomeness, huh? :)
My favorites are not here: Rick Sutcliffe's in Game 1 of the 1984 NLCS and Kerry Wood's in Game 7 of the 2003 NLCS.
Cole Hamels has a really nice swing, pitcher or not
That must've felt amazing giving up a hr to a pitcher then getting one himself
how do you get your clips? what program or whatever?
Ever come across any AL pitchers hitting homers?
Josh Beckett
Felix Hernandez hit one off of Johan Santana in 2007 at Mets
This is cool, yet funny
Where's Clayton Kershaw's opening day home run????
So many reds pitcher home runs
0:00 - 0:37 both starters hit homers?
Yes
What was the total time on that final home run trot? Seems to me he took several minutes to round the bases. :)
he stopped at second until the final decision came in
Waino has some power.
