Ryan Mayer has switched instrument clusters in a few of his builds on his channel. You should message him and ask if he had the same issues and what he did to fix it if he did. I see he is always reaching out to people when he has a problem.
I had the same issues with my 2014 Ram 3500 where it would not take the program corrected engine hours. It took over 20 tries and eventually I was successful in the cluster taking the corrected engine hours.
The best thing about the computer version is it let you pull the truck Pin vs the OBDplus Bluetooth version. That if you want to upgrade keys or add keys you can program the truck. I think that’s the only real bonus of the PC ALPHAObd Verson.
@@scottmccambley764 correct - the pin you need to input to rest your RF hub and program new keys. Maybe the whole premise was I don’t use android so I didn’t want to buy an Android device so I got the pc version. Now however there is the IOS version. I could have sworn there was something you could do with the PC and not the app version. Meh. At the end of the day I think both work and am actually considering the MXplus version as well to have.
I’m not sure if your year is doing the same as mine but mine is a 2019 and I had to input a number 20k higher than what I was trying to get to. It’s weird. Example. If I wanted the odometer to read 20,000 I had to input 40,000 and then tweak it from there to get close. Same with the hours. All with the latest and greatest AlphaOBD software. Hope that helps. I’ve also added trailer brakes, fog lights and aux switches. Give me a jingle if you need assistance. 😊
John not that I know but what if you put the old cluster in and read the data off of it and then put the new one in and program it would that make a difference???? Just throwing an idea out there!! Good luck getting it done!!!!
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while. Turning it off and back on fixes a lot of stuff lol . Or maybe starting it and let it run for a bit
This answers my last question thanks. Kinda unnerving knowing an obd adapter and a phone can change mileage lol. Is there anyway to check to see if the hours/ miles has been changed on a vehicle?
Hey brother I see this video is 2 years old and I just had this problem. For some reason it took the idle hours but will not take engine hours. Did you ever find a solution?
Dang it.. i was sure your going to tell us you had it figured out lol. 😄Cause usually stuff like this bothers you an you dont give up till you have it figured lol.. but i bet it wont be long befor you do 👍.. when will you be starting to do the hellcat engine swap ??? If you were to ask me .. id say it would be awsome if we git swapping engines right away bro.. these type if mods can be after that now an be ok with me lol .. pitter patter john lets get at it .. start your engine swap !! 😁👍
How the heck did you get connected with USB? I have the same setup and when I hit connect, it gives some stupid message about no Bluetooth device detected. I cant find anywhere to select USB.
So I have an idea (eventually, its expensive) for my Ram. I was going to get the Stinger Heigh10 display and build a desktop PC into the space my radio used to occupy. Build my tuning PC into my dash. Like a Micro-ATX tower
I'm trying the same thing with a 10.4" NavOS (Linkswell T-style Gen 4) head unit but cant access the builtin bluetooth hardware from installed app versions of AlphaODB and Torque Pro using a OBDLink MX OBD2 dongle .They got it so locked down to zlink for phone and music streaming. From this video I am going to try the OBDLink EX USB cable instead, since the android versions of these apps do have the interface drivers for ELM327 USB preinstalled. You might run into the very same bluetooth connection issues with the Stinger, even worse being a brand name. Since AD Hoc WiFi networking is a No Go with this 8.1 Android OS unit this is my last simple fix attempt.
@@scottmccambley764 Stinger has an HDMI so I am just going to build an actual PC tower in the dash. Cooling is my main concern. Not sure how I will make that work in a summertime dashboard.
@@timbrwolf1121 Ahh, can't do that in my situation as my NavOS only has HDMI out :( Have you thought about using a cheap intel compute stick instead? It would fit in the small pull out drawer below your head unit with no mods required powered by USB
@@scottmccambley764 The Stinger mounts to the front of the radio bezel and the only thing left in the dash is wiring. So i will have ample room back there.
Hi brother I'm sorry to bother you. i just got the same pc Alfa OBD it was all good when I 1st got it but then I was told the following text below. Yeah every time you use that one you need to reinstall the driver for it because Windows replaces the driver Not the version the OBD link driver provided by OBD link Windows thinks there's a better driver but there's not not compatible so Windows replaces the driver with the driver that doesn't work. Can u help me via TeamViewer I can pay?

Do I need a unlock cable with the USB version obdlink?
Hello!!!
Do you know one ELM327 USB for FIAT 500?
Sorry to hear that you are having issues with uploading data to the truck, well, you tried anyway! Thanks for the info!

Are you talking about that 4-digit/5-digit pin code? You can read that now from the android version. I had to use it for one feature I set on my 2500

Any idea how to turn off the MDS system on 12 ram hemi?
Go to eco on the body computer
How did you get the OBD reader to connect via usb mine keeps wanting to connect bluetooth?
You got to have the usb version that plugs into the side of your computer and runs to the car from your computer

Yes
What's the settings for USB connection?

If you are still having the issue, go to advance mode, interface, and select which modle you have
