Very useful tips! Yesterday i finally decided to connect my Nord Srage 3 to MoDx, and strangely enough i was disappointed that Yamaha Midi Receive mode is fixed... I can play only 2 midi channels from my limited Nord . It was much flexible on Motifs though. We can change sends channels but can not change recieve in 2023? And Yamaha still does not want to listen to their customers...

MIDI receive channel cannot been change on MODX and it’s largely better like this, it allow more flexibility on Control change using cause they are dedicate to each MIDI channel and do not affect all parts set on same MIDI channel. I will never come back to the old way to set several parts on same midi channel like on Motif where you cannot control control change in independant way for each part, on my using with Camelot Pro it’s largely better. Nord 3 as you write is limited, it can also provide for the cost it is, a minimum of 4 MIDI channels like Yamaha YC, CP or the CK provide and lot of others Stage keyboard done. With Camelot Pro you can pass other with only one MIDI channel from your Nord and set what you want to control on MODX and it also bring you, attachment view, scenes to control in booth way your Nord ad MODX, clicks, backing track using if need ….

Hey, would it be possible to allocate each part to he played by midi from my mpc? And maybe even have some parts play together on the same midi channel using mpc? Like maybe part 1 to midi channel 1. Part 2 to midi channel 2. Part 3 to midi channel 3 and then parts 4, 5 and 6 to midi channel 4 going to my mpc? I'm having a hard time achieving this. Thanks for the help!
Hi, thank you for your question, on Montage first generation /MODX's, if you set the Multi Mode, each part send and receive on it's own MIDI channel, part 1 MIDI channel 1, part 2 MIDI channel 2 ....You cannot change the MIDI channel for receiving, only for sending if you set the Master Mode for each part and change the MIDI sending channel. So for receiving data from MPC set the multi mode and set the MPC to send on separate MIDI channels each track, if send and can be done copy MIDI tracks on MPC to send the same to different parts. If you set the Hybrid mode, each part under keyboard control play on the same MIDI channel you set side the the Hybrid mode selection, but in that case, you will not be able to play this parts like they will be under MPC control. @@Moessieursi figured this video was too old to gather a response. i cant thank you enough for being such a valuable resource. as much as i love the modx+ and all that it brings to the table, some of the terms and methodology just confuse me. i think i mostly understand what youre saying. can i ask what exactly does receiving refer to? does it mean that the midi channels for the parts cant be changed as far as sending to the mpc?. im just a little confused about how to handle modx+ patches that have multiple parts built into them when using multiple performances in the same song. would i have to set up seperate mpc midi channels and do the send so they could play as they were originally intended by the modx+ side? im sorry i cant effectively communicate what im trying to ask. im probably going to have to get yamaha on the phone. thanks again
Hi, thank you for your kind words, as far i understand your setup, your MPC is sending MIDI notes and events (controllers moving as example) to the MODX+ . MODX+ parts receive this data. MODX part receive MIDI channel cannot been change, as i write part 1 is MIDI channel 1, part 2 MIDI channel 2 ... So you need to manage on your MPC to be sure each track you send goes to the good MIDI channel. In that case, that video will not help, MASTER mode is for controlling one other synth, rack or VSTI, it have no matter about receiving MIDI data from your MPC as example. So yes, you have to set up seperate mpc midi channels and do the send so they could play as they were originally intended by the modx+ side

Thank you, not sure to understand fine your question, you can play from an externa keyboard one or several parts from 9 to 16 while you play from your Montage or MODX parts from 1 to 8 under Keyboard control. You cannot play from Montage / MODX parts 9 to 16 while you play parts 1 to 8 under keyboard control, you can set on one part on Keyboard control from 1 to 8 a zone to control another synth with midi channel you want.

Hi waveform, this video was record on Montage with usb to HDMI adaptator and HDPVR for recording video, it work in the same way for MODX, i have release four MODX videos using the same gear than Montage.
