"Your honour, the jury is biased towards my lack of expensive shoes"
I agree this standard is stupid and wish people could generally get past seeing someone purely based on judgements of how they dress the point he's trying to make is more important. It's nothing to with the judge really, it's a simple fact that people in the jury will look down on you for looking messy.
Dress shoes are hardly expensive though so it's hard to take your argument seriously. You can easily get a pair as cheap as any other shoe today. They don't need to look like expensive ones to look good.
Funnily enough that would be me. Hat, treds, hoodie, the full thing, aint no judge tellin me what to wear. Stay Awesome!
@@Cdaragorni wouldnt wear a suit neither in cort nor at work so yeah. lol

100+ for a pair of dress shoes I will wear ones... nope.
same whit suit I have worn a suit ones in the last 5+ years and I borrowed that suit from someone and I still wore black jeans because there was no suit pants that fitted me I could borrow.
IF court wants a requirements for what to wear ether they have to borrow a suit and offer a free haircut or accept that people might show up in ripped dirty cloth because that is what they have.

Hot take: the only factors which should affect your outcome in court are the evidence against you and any testimony under oath. Not the way you look or behave. I wouldn't think a judge could rule against you because "I don't like you"
yeah but judges are petty little tyrants that like to flex their power over you, just like everyone in government. I mostly agree, your clothes shouldn't matter. But your behavior could indicate patterns in your life. If you act like a degenerate in the courtroom, you'll establish that you're probably capable of whatever they're charging you for.
So why don’t we be naked?
That common a common take, but how you present yourself is more important during a trial than another situation in life.
@@Lucifez6160 I say "Hot take" to obviously simple and reasonable takes as a joke... Because people are stupid and/or bat shit crazy.
The justice system should seek justice for the crime being investigated, not for a person's bad attitude or apparel. If that is of concern, then the government should pay to dress up all parties involved. People already spend too much on legal fees.

Mike saying "WHAT ARE THOOOOSE" is one of the best things I've ever heard
As someone who gets migraines, I pray that if I'm wearing sunglasses they will have the decency to ask me about it before judging me.
You would likely give a notice or have your lawyer say something about it before the case begins, so that it does not prejudice your case (e.g. so the jury don't think you're trying to be disrespectful).
It can also be very useful to have a doctor/optometrist note about this.
Imo it's always beneficial to head off bad impressions before the impression can be made
Yeah pretty much all of this is because the jury can be biased against you if they don’t think you are talking the case seriously
Bailiff got the "GET BACK HERE FLINT LOCKWOOD" run fr
*But Your Honor,my client pleads "Nah I didn't do shit on godd"*
If you're judged off of your attire in court. Then justice is not blind. I have an opinion that the court system is broken and needs to be rewritten from the ground up. I am actively going to start a petition for this.
They judge off of it because you're supposed to take it seriously. These things that were shown just shows you're not taking it seriously enough
@@jayharv285 Who is to say what dress attire is proper or not proper? Maybe it's proper to me. Or what if someone cannot afford 'proper' attire?
It's bullshit.
@@dukedase7 well guess what? It's the court that decides what is proper for them. Deal with it.
@@jayharv285 The court doesn't decide, the government does not have the right to dictate your fashion. Also, fuck outta here anime profile picture havin ass weeb
@@jayharv285Because clothes define whether or not you take something "seriously". Some of the worst folks i've met wear suits, dress "smart" and completely disrespect service workers. On the other hand, one of the sweetest girls i've known had a whole dual dragon tattoo on her entire left arm. On another note, i'm fat. People would assume I eat a lot, which WAS true at one point. Now I eat once a day weekdays and 2 maybe 3 times on the weekend. Then there are those people who weigh 123 pounds and scarf down 69 hotdogs in 15 minutes, something I could NEVER have done ever. Quit judging based on appearance you simpleton.
It's incredibly corrupt that a judge can destroy your life because they don't like you, they feel insulted, they don't like what you're wearing. Literally has nothing to do with the facts of the case but everything to do with the ego of the judge
I agree. I hate how much power the judge has and how much you have to kiss their ass and basically beg on your knees. Basic respect is one thing, but God a lot of judges have way too much power and take full advantage of it.
They can at worst give you the max penalty for whatever crime you are found guilty of. So as long as you aren't found guilty of a maor crime, a judge can only penalize you so much, even if he/she doesn't like you.
@@lkjkhfggda judge can also rule in favor of a guilty defendant, if the facts of the case are overlooked due to bias against the plaintiff in a civil case.
That's not how it works, but go off sis.
The judge represents the court; even if they personally don't have an issue with your conduct, the point of the court is to have norms and procedures. If you don't follow the rules when it's EASY, then it sends a message.

"I am literally wearing my only pair of shoes right now"
If you were self representing, I would ABSOLUTELY bring that up to the judge before the case starts. Something like "your honour, I apologise for my appearance. I understand this is not proper court attire but I do not have anything else available to me at the moment. I do not wish to come off as disrespectful."
A well spoken introduction can leave a good impression despite your dress
WHAT ARE THOOOSE got me dead
man the client was probably at the door but Bailiff just did 5 steps to catch him up 😂😂
People underestimate how much power a judge has. They really can throw you out for dressing badly
Sort of. Like cops and DAs, they’ve gotten away with a lot for a long time because people generally don’t have the balls to use the second amendment for what it was intended. If I show up in running shoes, dockers, a T-shirt, and sunglasses it behooves the judge to ignore it. He should instead focus on why people call me doctor and why I’m there. It’s my attorney’s job to wear a suit and tie. My job is to use the laws of chemistry and physics at scale. Whether plaintiff or defendant I’m there to demand justice, not participate in a juvenile delinquent’s fashion show.
@@EnthalpyAndEntropy dear God I can hear the ego DRIP from every syllable. Second it's a sign of respect to both the judge and the legal system as a whole. You have to take it seriously.
@@bradengoertzen4259 I’ve earned every ounce of my ego, kid. Also, it is serious. That’s why I’m not amused by the hack playing attorney and the pompous morons who feel fashion somehow translates to justice. I empathize with Larry Flint more daily.

It's amazing how you can think of yourself as so fantastic but you can't understand how respect works. I also believe NOTHING you say about being a doctor or working in physics and chemistry. Go jack off to the mirror again.
Or you could think about it as how much power YOU have. YOU control the way you dress which can positively or negatively impact your case.
