I always appreciate music like this from the early 80's. It was during this period that I attended college. I've had the chance to meet Liz Callaway in concert. She has the voice of an angel.
The actress who plays the mother who is expecting, her name is Catherine Cox, and she was a professor of mine in college, and she was fantastic. She changed my life and I owe her everything. It is amazing to see performances of hers posted online. It is amazing. Thank you Professor Cox!

Liz Callaway, man. What a joy.
Zach T exactly
Talk about a play that's due for a Broadway revival...
It would need a LOT of updating unless it were presented as a period piece.
Beth Fowler is an incredible performer who never got the recognition she deserved

She was in my church youth group. Joyful and loving person.
@@jws1128 Did she pass away?
@@NYCdude321 Not that I know. I hope not.
AMDA?? I owe her so much. She was pivotal in cultivating the confidence I have today
@@NYCdude321 no she has not
they'll revive hello dolly or carousel for the 16th time but they can't revive this amazing show just once :((
It’s not whether it’s worth reviving (it is), but if it’ll make money.
There's a revival going on right now. They rewrote a lot of the book/lyrics though.
@@tishtashtishtash yeah definitely sad but true ://
Three ladies at the top of their game! Well done.
A great show deserving a revival for sure. A period piece that is timeless.
Super nice super gay guys writing a musical about having babies made for a hell of a surreal head trip. I loved it.
SMOKEAGUITAR Pretty sure Maltby and Shire are both straight. I love the show too though!
Never heard of this show before...Revive! Revive! Revive!
It ran for 241 performances; investors lost their shirts the first time. Chances of a revival of "Baby" in our lifetime are near zero.
It’s revived. On Off Broadway right now for a couple weeks with Julia Murney, who’s actually pregnant.
So much belting... in other words: gay heaven.
Iconic song!!! Catherine Cox! I want what your having! 👏👏👏❤️😘🌟🌟🌟💋🎉🎉🎉
this is just my favorite piece y’all
Never let it be forgotten that Catherine Cox danced with a basketball before Zac Efron.
Loved this musical! I played the gym teach in a local community production. :)
Just great!
I adore this musical.....
They better yell at me! This is amazing.
So wonderfully moving. This song should always have been sung by an older person.
That lavender track jacket is FIERCE
2:51 almost songs like Sondheim with Arlene’s part
Such a good score, too bad the show didn't go further.... Liz is great...naturally!
Liz Liz liz
This is an Original American Broadway Musical. Emphasis on the word ORIGINAL.
The eldest woman looks like the character model for Kathleen Turner's mom portrayal in Serial Mom. The hair and clothes are spot on.
Whatever happened to Catherine Cox?
Oh no, not a nineteen year old student who is not married!
Saw this years ago. I am marginally pro choice but can’t help think the modern version would have 3 woman getting abortions.
IKR! They'd probably revise the lyrics demanding the return of Roe v Wade. "I want it all BACK!"
For a whole lotta years
you could say
I’ve been expecting
But
I always
made sure
that I didn't expect too much
I sat around on my potential
But now
that I’ve heard this news
It’s released
all these possibilities
And
all I have to do
is choose
I want it all
I want it all
I want
the whole female experience
in a ball
I want it all
I want the morning sickness
and the elations
I want
every known female sensation
I want to be Scarlett O'Hara,
Joan of Arc,
Lauren Bacall
I want it all
I’ve been
sitting here
making decisions
just like you have
So
the thing that I did
was to make myself a list
I put what I want
on this side
And what I don’t want
over here
It was quite
a bout,
But
I worked it out
And now the answer’s very clear
I want it all
I want it all
I want adventure,
love,
career,
kids
large and small
I want it all
I want a quiet simple life
and some glory
And
Steven Spielberg filming my first story
I want to be Gloria Steinam,
Janice Joplin,
Annie Hall
I want to be Catherine Hepburn,
Connie Chung,
Madame de Stae"l
I want
to be Mother Teresa,
Sally Ride,
Lucille Ball
I want it all
Oh no
My friends
There's now
to ways to slice it
You must choose
My friends
And there are things you gain
But some
you lose my friends
Some
very lovely things
Like what?
Like an overtone of romance
An element of surprise
The things
any grown up practical woman gives up
if she’s wise
I want it all
Oh, yeah
I want it all
Oh, yeah
There's A rise up to the heights
And then a ball
I want it all
Don’t try to tell me that I can't have my drama
And be a mother
who is also a motha?
I wanna know that I can find inside me anyone I need
I wanna be Donna Mckechnie,
Donna Summer, -
Donna Reed
I wanna be Margaret Sanger,
Margaret Thatcher,
Margaret Mead -
I want it all
I want it all
I want to find a way to break through every wall
I want it all
I want Tahiti
I want a Grammy
I want stretch marks
I want a pedicure
I want dill pickles
I want Learjet
I want a string Bikini
I want the Nobel Prize
I want to make totem poles out of fruit cans
I want it all
I want it
I want it all
I want it
I want it all
I want it
I want it all
All
I could get into this
