I have a 2002 double cab 130 trayback in NZ. It has 325,000 kms on the clock and never misses a beat. I have Ironman 50mm lift and also cranked radius arms. 255/85/16 BFG Mud terrains. I would love this vehicle it's very well set up.
G'day Ronny and hello to you Justin. Just a pointer mate, you can easily fit an 80 litres custom made reserve fuel tank in underneath your tray quite easily. I did so with my 130 a few years ago by making it a simple gravity feed tank, by cutting off the fuel spout nozzle and installing a T - piece section made out of stainless, along with a screw valve, and then reconnecting the fuel spout onto that. I used a stainless steel fuel spout that I bought from a boat shop, and used 2 " stainless pipe and elbows, along with making up a breather tube. Unfortunately I also used some proper industrial fuel hose to make the final connection between the top of the reserve tank, and pipe that runs to it from the filler spout, but if you were to make it all out of pipe work and elbows, it would be a much better design and system. Stainless was the choice for mine, however, I reckon I could have used something else. All you need to do is use the current angle bar under your tray as mount for the tank, and can easily weld in some booker bar thread with nits as well, say 1/2 booker bar would be perfect and suitable to pass modification standards. With my 130, I have 75/80 litres from the primary plastic tank, and I have 80 litres from the reserve. So then, when I get down to a 1/4 tank of fuel or less, I get out and switch the reserve on, and it takes a just a few minutes to fill back up, even when driving on the go. Cheers, Matthew
Ronny you have to track down a 110 station wagon for a video , it's got to be the ultimate overland vehicle , look at its heritage the camel trophy expeditions then the G4 challenge series , either in the basic 300tdi or td5 engine .
Nice 130. I learned to drive in a 110 V8. Have a massive soft spot for the Defender. There’s just something about them especially looking out over that squared off bonnet. More LR’s please Ronny!
Lol Ronny running away in the wing mirror. There is only 2 things I would add to this and they are reversing cameras, one above the rear tow bar activated off the reverse gear selection to help you judge how far you can go back and another mounter at the highest point on the rear tray permanently on, acting as a rear view mirror. Absolutely awesome 130. You've got things on this that every defender owner wants.
The TD5 Defenders were alloy but these newer ones have steel bonnet and doors.. Big difference in weight. Also Nugget Stuff is NOT from the UK. Its from right here in AUS.
Need to get some cup holders for in front of the aircons works great for cold drinks on a long trip. Great truck I have a 130 and 110 but 130 is the best for expedition camping.
Defender Fuel Coolers keep fuel cool the Disco 3 has one as well. Diesel burns optimally at 45c if it gets above this will set a DTC and if above 90c the ECU will forcefully shut car down to avoid damaging the pump/injectors. This is why diesels have fuel temp sensors.
05:00 whos the flog in the bush on the left hand side, lol, looks like he just had a dump, lol. You WA boys, must all clothes shop at the same bloody store boys. 😜 just pissing around, enjoyed that episode mate, i'm guessing old mates a Kiwi on day leave, 😋 keep em coming boys. Cheers Moose in Vic.
These are like hens teeth. Can't even get a good one in the UK. This Defender was a good investment. Worth a bit more?, Justin probably doubled his value. Anyway, bigger issue - who keeps rating these vids down?
Ronny, Quick Pitch Campers have a Defender 110 they are rigging up for a client. This thing will have all the bells and whistles. Just a thought if you wanted to do a vid on one.
Great Truck.... Love the 130's but I still prefer the 110 atm but I would have both if I could afford them.... The guy needs to get some facts right as the "Nugget Stuff" actually is made here in Australia & based in Queensland I believe. The std fuel tank size is only 75ltrs I believe out of the factory. The ScanGauge that he has can also be adjusted to cater for larger tyres as well so the speed reading will be accurate. I also thought nearly CRD Diesels had Fuel Coolers?? I know our '10 Prado does.....
Had no idea these were made until 2015! They stopped production in '98 due to Emissions requirements in North America. Any plans to get a G Wagon single cab? I know a few were made, not sure how popular they are in Aus, though- they weren't sold in NA. Also, seriously cool vehicle!
i edit up a video of our trip to fraser soon ,blow your mind ,some nice rigs will run through some of the mods brand new 79s duel cabs tricked out with best gear a new hilux that has some serious off road touring suspension and hole lot of bar work and bolt ons , up to 12 on this trip all have big dollars spent on them some are still being decked out , then cap york is next trip ,
Seem to be cross referencing with HP/KW and/or NM figures rep wheel............not clear on accurate figures per wheel or overall data figures as per vehicle specifications overall
I like the end of the episode when they were just shooting the shit and talking about the bush and racing etc. Too bad you cut it short could have listened to you guys talk about the aussie outback scene and the racing and even get into a bit more about things in general for longer , podcast style
Massive respect for the classic British motor. What a machine. 👍🏻
As someone that has owned and used land rovers for years, moving the fuse box like that is the best idea I have heard yet!

I like how the dude was a bit shy at the start and then got proud and started talking about his rig.
One of the best rigs on here... Cheers for showing it off

Very well thought out machine. Thanks for sharing
Best 130 I’ve ever seen
Nice "through the cab" camera movement.
+Vhey Preexa thanks mate took a few goes to pull that one off
12:45 The hood is steel I believe. That's why it is so heavy.
Cheers
Haha, the mirror run. at 0:51

I'm not really a land Rover fan but that is one nice truck.
Discovery 2 has to be done
Nicky Doyle or a 300tdi Disco

Yup the owner has no idea what he is talking about, it also reduces the risk of diesel bug.
VERY GOOD FILMING.
Good one - that's a great truck.
Pretty sure this beaut rig is up for sale at a car yard. Saw it online today, they chasing 79k for it. Looks amazing.

Yeah 130s are the Dog's bollocks, especially the Pumas are near impossible to get your hands on. All of them are ex-contractors and have been ragged.
Willem Moseley Aren't they a bit too big really? 110s are so much more common for any sort of trips
your Rover is freakn AWESOME!!!!
Good modification

Nice looking vehicle
awesome truck
Awesome Truck
That was a good one Ronny! 👊😎👍🍻✌️
thats actually sick
Love this thing.
Could you see about getting a Subaru on? XV/Crosstrek and a Forester would be cool.
They're not 4WDs though...
Not all of them but I've seen some pretty gnarly 4WD Subaru builds before.
landrover are bringing out a brand new line of defenders in the near future to meet with current emitionsregulations
No nonsense Serious Work Horse
i would take that over the 79. 130, the original double cab
Great Episode, Love Defender
Bonnet and doors are made of steel from 2007 onwards! So beware the tinworm and contact corrosion (rivnuts in the bonnet)!
Great vehicle

So cool

Nice!

Doors and bonnet are steel. That’s why the bonnet is so heavy. 🤣
Hi the bracket you have holding your catch can where abouts did you get it from ? I’ve tried Asgard engineering with no joy
will ronny be making an appearance at the perth 4x4 show this year??
