Amazon please revive this for a season 2! It was a phenomenal show and deserves to continue. All the good sci fi shows always get canceled.
Because none of people watched it they don’t have enough ratings. I can’t keep the show on. I feel bad because I’m late to the party because I just finished the first episode. I don’t know why I didn’t watch it when it first came on, but I decided to give it a chance, and yes, pretty interesting.

Really wish you had season 2 of this series. Just finished the last episode of season one, found out there won’t be a 2 and wanted to throw the remote at my tv. If you do a second season, we will forgive you for the awful Lord of the Rings series you wasted too much money on
Finally something new and original, without superheroes, superpowers or teenagers in love with identity crises that will save the world.
Might be too early to eliminate the "superpowers" element in this but you're definitely correct about the rest!

Why is it that big budgets can be blown on pointless things most of the fans don't want to see like a revamped Indiana Jones film, but quality productions like this are cancelled? This is one of the best things I've seen in years.
Best show I've seen for years. Very original, totally intriguing. It's pathetic that people are complaining it's too slow, it's just very thorough. It's not action packed science fiction, it's a study on how a mystery would impact on real people's lives.
They complain it's slow BECAUSE they are slow.
It's the same when some people complained that "Dune was such a boring movie omg, I couldn't watch it! It was too slooow." Hah.

Just discovered Night Sky a week ago and already finished it. What an absolutely refreshing show on so many levels. It was great how the series focused on unconventional main characters - Irene and Frank - and how the producers used relatively unknown talent. The plot was pretty original too. Needless to say I was gutted when I found out it was canceled after just ONE season. Netflix, Hulu, somebody! Please, bring this show BACK!!

Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons are MAGNIFICENT in this series. I was disappointed to hear that it was cancelled! This is a fresh theme in the 21 century. A storyline that we need to prepare for! I don't know how a series like this doesn't get popular views,
They are such well-rounded actors and both have so much charisma. I would have watched this series for them alone! I can't think of two actors in a scenario that had me believing they were these characters while also being deeply in love. Their characters, dynamic, and trauma were so realistic. Such a disappointment that this show has been canceled.
Amazon Prime Video is a mess, I dont browse it because all it ever does is show me channels I have to pay for on top of my prime. So if I'm not searching to see if a specific movie is on there, Im not searching it. Add to that, that there are unlimited number of streaming services to spend your time on, its hard to even know a show exists before it gets cancelled nowadays. I believe I read that amazon cancelled this show 8 weeks after the first episode aired. I hate modern TV for this. If you cant make at least 2-3 seasons dont even bother. Its hardly worth investing your time anymore when they just get cancelled.

Why they cancel this series? This is the best show i've ever seen. The story built up perfectly, not too fast not too slow. I love how Sissy and JK Simmons play their characters.
sissy spacek got her first nomination from Carrie 1976 and she still got it almost 50 years later. the only things that changed about her are her age and looks since then, but her acting is still as fire as in the 1970s

I was mesmerized but I wish I had known it was not a limited series before I started. I hope Season 2 will be available relatively soon.
Just watched the whole season in one day.i just could not stop watching. Definitly a slow burn but in a very good way. The acting was suberb, i need season two!

Nathalla i agree slow burn with first 2-3 episodes. they kept us in dark about what was going on, but they did feed us enough to keep us interested. i myself finished in one sitting. wish there was more ! so excited about the planet and if they will venture to one of the cities. We got a glimpse of the guy Jude fought with and killed unfortunately at end of season 1 on the planet. i want to know where the neighbor went wish there was just 1 more episode
Yes I couldn’t move watch it n one setting just found out it’s not going be a season 2 so was that another world or city at the end cuz I couldn’t tell it was so good
So it's been a few days since I finished and the story is still with me and I wish they'd make more!! This production had it all....why oh why. This is truly one of the best shows I've EVER seen. And I've seen alot.

Without a doubt the best show I’ve ever seen because it literally has it all. Complexity of character development, dry humor( I literally laughed at times with tears in my eyes, if one is clever enough to catch it), mystery and intrigue, spiritualism, family, romance. The list could go on and on. The writing is superb and the cast of actors matched it equally. I couldn’t stop watching it and each episode had me wanting more, it literally got better and better, like a perfect crescendo but I don’t want it to end. Eagerly waiting for season 2.

Just stunning. Saw first season in a day. Original. Intrigue. Intelligently written. Beautiful acting by Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons who are one of my fav. romantic couples ever. And Chai Hansen, (who once played a merman) gives a tender performance calling all in to question of what we say reality is.
Superb. Subtle. Hinting at the great mysteries of love and life.
Sadly, Amazon canceled after 1 season which has got to be one of the biggest mistakes ever made.
J. K. Simmons is all over Prime, is he not? I would characterize him as a mega-star!

This is a fantastic show. Sure it can be slow for people who can't take a breath between scenes but I see so much of the characters in my own family members. Aside from the fantasy syfy aspect its very grounded and real. The characters are feel real, amazingly written. For me personally there is a scene at about 25 minutes plus or minus 10 seconds that was exactly like a conversation I had with my mother before the true breadth of mental illness was known. It made my eyes well up because it was so relatable and well acted, very real to that time. I'm hooked. J.K. Simmons is amazing as always, he's basically my grandpa in this show, down to the ballcap, jeans, flannel, and personality. Sissy Spacek is phenomenal, again, basically my grandma. The supporting casts characters are very fleshed out and they're fantastic. It's one of the most original and better shows I've seen in probably a decade or more. It's not recycled content, a remake, a spin-off, a rip-off. I really enjoy it. If you're like me though, I suggest one or two episodes on evenings when you're home and have a meal, have time to really watch and understand each character and the story. It's much deeper than just "the night sky."
Give it a try and pay attention.

Just watched May 2024. Such a shame it got cancelled, really enjoyed the premise, cast, and writing. Quite refreshing, intriguing and very well produced. It is so sad we’ll never find out where it could have gone.
JK Simmons is one of the best actors, here in Night Sky he's no different. Loved his character portrayal!
Outstanding series! The writing is worthy of Issac Asimov. Great story, actors, etc. Can't wait for season two!
Love it !! Love it! This is a master class in acting. To be in character for an hour of a show is already tough for an actor, but to be consistent for 8 episodes is amazing. This show is very subdued and very cerebral. You wouldn't enjoy this if you are an MTV fanatic, because most of the times, it's slow. There's not a lot of quick editing and not a lot of scene changes like a music video! But if you go to museum, loves reading books, loves to contemplate, loves to meditate, loves to watch sunsets, this show is for you. Sissy and J.K. are amazing. So do the spanish mother and daughter. There are little nuances in their acting which makes watching these characters totally immersing and enjoyable, most specially if you have a 75 inch UHD TV.
Getting really sick and tired of starting to watch a show only to have you all cancel them with no wrap up or conclusion. Why bother watching any Prime shows if you're just going to cancel them without a conclusion? You show no respect to your audience by doing this. You could at least do a two hour episode to wrap the show up. I'm not watching any of your shows anymore. There's no point.

Finally got round to this - what a gem of a series! Sure hope there's a season 2. J.K. Simmons is a phenomenal actor, compelling in every role. I'm still not over his last show Counterpart only having 2 seasons! Night Sky is a slow burn - it's sci fi drama not sci fi action, but it's magical at times and I'd love to see where this story goes.

Just finished watching this show it is a great production with an awsome story and actors. What a gem of a SiFi show first 3 episodes are slow but ease you into one hell of a roller coaster ride. Amazon are imbociles for not doing a 2nd season. This show could spawn a new SiFi franchise with ease, prequels spin offs and more. I hope another network picks it up and gives us a 2nd season.

Wow. I just finished watching this over 2 days. Honestly I didn't mean to however the performances from Sissy Spacek and J. K. Simmons hypnotized me into watching more. This may not be everyone's cup of tea due to its slow pacing but the intrigue keeps the story ticking along. And well done to Chai Hansen for holding his own against such talent like Sissy and J.K. Fingers crossed there is a Season 2.

@jcorb if you find an individual critic who aligns with your taste, but trusting an amalgam of "critics" and letting them dictate to you just seems a little weak bordering on pathetic. How much good TV or movies have you missed?
I know where this show is going, and it makes me want to interview the writer. We are in for a soul expanding ride. The worst part is waiting for the remaining seasons.

I was just listening to a podcast discussing about stargate, and then I stumbled upon this show. I was hooked. I really hope there would be more seasons to come!
Came across Night Sky by chance yesterday evening and gave it a whirl, despite some negative reviews from those who expect explosions 5 minutes in. Two episodes in, and I'm hooked. The acting is superb, as others have pointed out. Let's hope it continues without going wobbly and any conclusion is more like a British production than the terrible ending of the otherwise excellent War of The Worlds with Tom Cruise. That was so unrealistic Hollywood sugary nonsense, it was embarrassing! World has been decimated and they arrive at a house with the lights on and the parents wearing elderly couple preppy clothing? Really? Where was the electricity coming from? How did they keep so clean and tidy? Please please let American productions be more realistic and not always end with rushed unrealistic happy endings. A good example of how to make movie is The Descent (2005) by Neil Marshall. Keep it real Amazon!
If you haven't watched Invasion you should it's brilliant. Just in case you missed it by accident. Clearly a sci-fi head with that comment. Covid over the last 2 years halted all decent movies and series. Stranger things out soon. Think the 1st season was best then it slowly went downwards in my book but invasion is a must but if you want a series that's good and u haven't clicked on. Shinning Girls is very good. I don't sleep at night i binge. 🤣
Just finished watching season 1. The acting of Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons is great and moving. The plot is not fast pacing but acceptable. The action scenes and visual effects are not overdone.
