I've seen an animation about sm64, and in it there's an headcannon that bob omb buddies are pink because they were covered in paint as a form of humiliation for their attempt at overthrowing king bob omb (prior to mario's entrance)

Funny, in Super Mario Maker 2 (I haven't played SMM 1) the Bob-Ombs NEVER have the same explosion effect as in the original games. The blast radius is also smaller, so you've gotta use more of 'em if you want them to present the same danger as in the originals; gotta wonder if that wounds their pride any.
