When Billy told Karen to stay away from him, he wasn’t being spiteful. It felt like the last few bits of his humanity were trying to protect from what he felt himself becoming. Even though he was a total dick last season, Billy was trying to step up and be a good guy in that moment.
Plus they've been exposed to each other a while, at least passively, just by being part of the same friend group. Once she and Mike got together and saw Max with Lucas, I doubt El continued to feel threatened anymore. I always figured they were chill with each other for a while and they just needed a little push to become real friends.
I feel spartan is underestimating how dramatic grade school kids can be and how quickly they can be influenced to "fit in". Especially a girl who hasn't been in social situations
Absolutely, those pre-teen/early teen relationships could turn on a dime one day, turned back again the next. At that age you're just learning how to navigate romantic relationships, but you're impulsive and struggle to regulate your emotions and deal with them in a constructive manner, so you act out and make rash decisions only to go back on them shortly thereafter... sometimes just as impulsively. It's all a part of growing up.
@@danielmwale5789 Of course it's cringe, but it's also just normal teenage crap that (most) people grow out of. As such, it's certainly nothing to take too seriously or any reason to suggest that one character is corrupting another.
personally max and el’s friendship makes a lot of sense and is needed on both sides. neither have any “girl friends” and need someone to relate to, especially el- she’s been with/controlled by the men in her life since she could remember. it makes sense that they introduce a female character that can show her how to be herself outside of those men and be independent, especially at such a formative age (they are about 13-14 here). (responding to the “corruption” comment)
You guys have already completely forgotten Mike lied in the beginning of the episode. El isn't upset that Mike isn't going to hang out with her for one day, she's upset that he lied about it. You remember the thing the kids have been saying for the last 2 seasons: "friends don't lie". And had to lie because Hop wasn't capable of having an honest conversation with his daughter.
I thought the difference was that nobody was looking out for Billy so taking over Billy is easier. With Will, people were constantly trying to help Will get rid of the monster.
The junior high relationship drama comes off as super real. Max and Lucas both think they're experienced and wise, but clearly, they're... thirteen. Max dumps Lucas to teach him a lesson, not to actually break up with him, and he thinks the right answer is to throw presents at her instead of talking about whatever the problem is. It's definitely the way I remember my friends' eighth grade nonsense playing out.
Thing about this “ fight” is that’s how teen relationships are, everything the end of the world and so dramatic! So it is extra but shows how it really can get + she wasn’t having a life she needed to have time with Max so she could see that it’s also good to have girl friends and not ignore everything else except your bf ! I don’t like them not being together, but I’m glad she got this time to grow by herself and with Max
I wouldn't say that Max is "corrupting" El. She's giving both good and bad advice. Good advice in encouraging El to find things that she El likes and trying them out. Helping El to figure out who she is as she spent her whole life in the lab and never got to really experience things the way normal girls get to experience them. Bad advice as Max is believing that El's relationship with Mike is just like her relationship with Lucas, and is encouraging El to treat Mike like how Max treats Lucas. I think later in the season Max realizes that she gave bad advice towards that. I think the Mind Flayer has a thing for guys named William. William (Will) Byers, and William (Billy) Hargrove. Many people have commented on how Joyce kind of went backwards this season. Season 1 Joyce: "Where is my boy!?" Season 2 Joyce: "What is wrong with my boy!?" Season 3 Joyce: "My fridge magnets keep falling down!"
just want to point out El never stood up for herself (in that sense) until Max, she taught her how to be a girlfriend… even if they’re doing the best we can at the age and stage they’re at

Yeah, I'm not big on the teen drama at the start of this season either. It's kinda fun I guess, but it and the overall more whimsical and silly vibe was a departure from the more serious tone of Seasons 1 and 2. They carried some of that sillier tone into Season 4 and although I think they probably struck a better balance with it for the most part, I could still do without it.

Yeah I wasn’t sold on Robin right away either. But now I find her character very intriguing
she’s great
Robin's REAL parents are actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawk.
BARB IS FUCKING DEAD!!!!!!!!!!
Steve and Dustin will always be the best duo ❤❤
Misuse of the word mutilated 😂

You will LOVE robin 😊
Awesome show. I love this
14:24 That's why Ted and her started dating, but personally I think she and Barney were the superior couple.
?
I love how Steve is happier to see Dustin home then his long time friends shows how much he means to Steve. I do agree with spartan the younger ones relationship stuff does get annoying sometimes.
@@TrentRidley for me it's mostly Mike and elevens relationship like no 12 year olds have that serious of a relationship in first place also annoying how obsessed Mike is with her especially in season 2 saying max can't join the group and stuff acting like what he says goes Mike pisses me off alot of the time
@@TheShadow8771 Haha, that's fair. He's not my favourite character either, particularly in Seasons 3 and 4. Not that I dislike him as most of his flaws I can put down to normal teenage characteristics that most people grow out of, but yeah, he's not my favourite.
@@TrentRidley see everyone says that but you don't see Dustin will or Lucas acting the way he does
@@TheShadow8771 TBF tho, Lucas always did things his way; Will was captured by "something" most of the seasons; and Dustin has no choice, his "girlfriend" is far, far away?. Mike almost lost his best friend, and, when you think about it, hasn't really gotten him back yet. I give Mike a break for being a little obsessed. lol But, yah, he's not my fave either. Neither is Max at this point, tho, so go figure. lol
Guys I was searching for your Witcher S3 reaction but it seems you didn't do it, why? Just wondering maybe I missed smth
