  • Wanlip is a small village to the north of Leicester on the edge of the city's urban sprawl. The church dates mainly from the 13th and 14th centuries, with restoration works taking place in the 19th century, and the south aisle added in 1904.
There were three bells in the tower prior to the current bells. North's 'Church Bells of Leicestershire' suggests that at least one of them was of a date prior to 1600, but not much else is known about them. The current ring of 6 bells were cast in 1952, the tenor weighing 7-3-3 cwt. The bells are rung from the ground floor, and there is a glazed wooden screen separating the ringing room from the main body of the church. More information about the bells can be found here: dove.cccbr.org...
    A note on the ringing:
The method being rung in plain bob minor and was recorded during the Leicester Guild quarterly meeting in January 2024.
