@@lewisofthehoood yeah that would be even worse but in the context of the rp why would they take someone from an entirely different town to be a hostage in a bank robbery?
RDR2, GTA and Arma RP generally suffer from the same problem: The owners and the surrounding team become almost despotic, start getting upset if anyone points it out to them and then they fall into some sort of death spiral that will one day befall every single RP server. I've seen it so much that I can smell symptoms before they even occur.
Wildrp is probably the best for actual roleplay as most the folks there actually know how to roleplay and create interesting scenes/narratives. It's also probably the hardest to get into for that reason but might be worth it.
It’s very gatekept. Applications can only be applied once a month, reasons for denial are not specified. If you try to ask, perma ban. It’s just not worth it. Especially considering the application needs to be very long with specific language or you’ll get denied. And if you do pass, you’ll have to go through an interview. It border line feels like I’m applying for a job.
As a arma 3 server hoster I saw a comment saying “they are reddit moderators” and it’s not wrong. Most gta rp or rdrp servers are ran by reddit/discord mods, wannabe hood rats, or real life leo or other public service officials doing GTA/rd2 stuff on Off-days.
All the servers you played on use Teamspeak and Saltychat, not in-game voice. The reason why you can hear some players is because they also have the in-game chat enabled and are essentially double talking through Teamspeak and In-Game chat. Also, most of those servers are copy pasta of each other - the character creator is a dead giveaway. The only servers with some originality are Dakota River Bend (made by actual RDO players, uses in game voice and is controller friendly) - WildRP (elite quality RP, very good developers, albeit with no controller support at all) - Ranch RP (similar to Wild, but not as ‘elite’)
Calling wildRP elite😂 I’d call them “snobby”. Never have I ever encountered a server that wanted clips of you voice acting to get in. Or a server that REQUIRES your mic to be one of those wild desk mics. They’re so far up their own ass.
@@Mannysnr1 There's morons in every server. Making your entry application not only obtuse and difficult, but to the point that they require you to have a specific mic? Fuck that. You drive away twice as many good people as you do the bad.
90% of hardcore role players cant even roleplay. they act as if it is life and have 0 improv skills to go along with any situation that will arise, they are just bland ppl
Reminds me of Star wars the old republic. I finally decided to join a rp server and this basically sums it up: You have to fill out a form, YOU MUST JOIN THEIR DISCORD, You can't be (Whatever the admins decide.) You can't have (Whatever the admins decide) And when you finally get to the roleplay? Its just people standing in a room typing at each other.
Had a bit of this spill into console RDO once after a Moonshine sale in Blackwater Guy tried asking me if I knew a criminal gang, but I was riding off to do a legendary bounty (the board was very close) and he started firing at me - long story short I killed him first and I apparently ruined his roleplay after I popped him and his buddy
That's still a better experience than I got. My first time around was: make a character, listen to the main plot, go out, get shot, come back to base, walk outside, survive long enough to go into Valentine, get shot, pop back into camp, go back to get my stuff, get shot before I even make it into town, go back to camp, go back into town more stealth like, make it to where I died last, find the guy that shot me, shoot him 3 times before I get shot, pop back into camp because I died like 3 times, turn around, go somewhere else, see a long road of nothing till I get shot again, pop back into camp because I got shot 4 times now, poke my head out of camp, get shot, gave up, and never played the game again.
The main issues with Roleplay servers are toxic server owners who prioritize quantity over quality, biased staff who favor their friends, and players who can't separate RP from real life. I've experienced this firsthand. I play on WildRP now, but before that, I was on these problematic servers. The experience was awful. People don't understand the basics of RP. Instead of playing a character from that time period, they bring in a version of their real-life self. They stand around, mess around with friends, bully others (because they're weak in real life), and ruin the reputation of RedM. This behavior ruins the experience for those who genuinely want to enjoy RP
I guess it's hard to strike a balance between being despotic or immersive. (Usually people of good will do well without problems, but you have the trolls too, that's why the mods then become neurotic with anyone)
I tried to get into RDRP and even had a friend join with me. We found a server that didn't have too many rules and had a decent population. But earning money was a slog, if you didn't work for a player run business your only other option was hunting. Sheriffs were always assholes who didn't participate in rp. Most of the server had regulars who were good roleplayers but they were extremely cliquey and wouldn't involve new players or anyone they didn't know. Gunfights were rare and sucked when they did happen because third person didn't have cross hairs and you were limited to bad guns if you didn't have money for better ones. Finding decent jobs was hard due to the before mentioned cliquey behavior and other jobs were downright mindless slave labor. For instance a group was running a massive farm in the emerald ranch, but they required their farm hands to wear a uniform do mindless work where you'd plant, water, harvest for hours while making low but steady wages. All while being at the emerald ranch the whole time away from all the good rp. I eventually learned from a player about graverobbing that paid better but had a risk of getting caught, however the player wouldn't reveal where the npc fence was and instead acted as a middleman where we'd have to get a cut from him, also some sheriffs would camp grave sites. I did have some fun times role playing as a chivalrous Knight of Ohio, I even wore the Ned Kelly armor from the multiplayer mission to sell the knightly look. However the sheriffs were always assholes and demanded that I never wear my helmet which like wtf I'm a knight? I did equip my horse with a mask and jokingly asked the sheriff if the horse had to take off his helmet too (wouldn't you guess it the sheriff wasn't amused)
I RP in a server that was on screen at 11:27 and I have so much fun. From a serial killer in Valentine to coal miners being stopped and searched on the way to make a delivery, there’s lots of people who take it seriously enough to make simply riding around and interacting with people really fun.
To have *fun* in RP's you need to know someone that has a high role on something 15% of players work until they get a role that have an actual gameplay
For the robbery, I think it's the rules that require the law to let the outlaw to have head starts for couple seconds, because otherwise people would just be shooting each the second there's bank robbery and will discourage people to rob a bank. So, hey at least have a chase first then you can shoot. I get it they sound to friendly when talking to the outlaw, but that's what you get for playing on public server. Which is why server like WIldRP require you to at least able to do voice acting
I never did red dead roleplay but would role play on the regular servers. Having the ability to craft camps, work jobs, etc sounds really cool. The original game didnt even bother to make it that immersive 🙄 but that bank robbery interaction looked ridiculous
I play on a whitelist one and I vastly prefer it over the regular RDO. But I think it highly depends on the type of player. I enjoyed the entire process of crafting a backstory and doing slow tasks. The fact that I can go for a trail ride, build a shop, own a cabin, hunt/fish, without the RDO experience of a tomahawk or shotgun to the back with no lead up
I did have a blast on WWRP, despite its long application process. I was on it for a year and had a lot of fun, but ended up being banned because some admins had their delicate egos shattered. Honestly, EVERY Red Dead RP server has at least one flaw; bad design, poor UI, buggy gameplay, power-hunger staff ... the list just goes on. 😔
Funny thing about this is that a youtuber made a video about trolling in RedDeadRP, and the guy was just sitting there minding his business and everyone just got mad at him for no reason 😂
people have always asked for rdr undead nightmare 2, though its always just been right infront of them the whole time, rdo and rd roleplay (quick side note the games them selves are good, e.g. functions, and concept, but the players ruin it)
Sometimes I like to go on twitch and watch people rp on red dead (Skoog, specifically) whenever I watch his streams (Which are always sooo long) there is always something going on and its fun to watch, although, it is one of those rp servers you have to spend awhile to fill out an application, and create a character with a good enough backstory. But from what ive seen, if you want to go into it long term its definitely worth it.
Just not worth roleplaying, I signed up to a server once - waited a long time for the process. And the finally thought I'd get in and was refused for making a character they happened to not like despite spending a long time working on a background to fit the altered world story they had. They didn't care to explain further or allow any more chances, despite the effort and waiting I put in. I miss the days me and my friend would just hunt and roleplay by ourselves, RedM RP is miserable.
I've been playing Gilded RP. I didn't think I'd like it much but I'm still playing. Seeing these other servers makes me grateful for the server I'm on. These look so soulless and empty. The cards in Syn county make me want to vomit. Things aren't perfect, but it's fun enough, especially with friends.
My friend, gilded sucks major. Its one of the most slop servers out there along with gold rush. The only thing on gilded thats better than gold rush is that its actially stable performance wise.
Rockstar roleplays seem to have a BIG problem with people just doing Cops/Robbers I've joined plenty of FiveM servers (besides NoPixel, I ain't waiting long queues) and it was all pretty much this > Join > Have no money for anything, cheapest car is like 15k and you have 3k > Go to work (pay is shit) > Get robbed > Buy a gun to protect yourselves > Get robbed anyways, coz you're not really thinking you're suppose to be ready for a quick draw during any interaction with another player > Try crime > Get scammed ("im a criminal so I can rob you") > Try crime by yourself > Get arrested by cops > Want any job cooler than delivery driver ? Gotta apply on forums/discord Yeah, safe to say I'm just playing GTA Online, coz it's less frustrating
I just can’t stand how people take themselves so seriously and if I don’t play along it’s failrp, 69% edat3rs and 31% power tripping gits. Normal red dead online is miles better if there aren’t hackers. The only “rp” servers I had fun on was Gmod darkrp, it had very fun add ons and you mostly wouldn’t get banned for just playing the game (for example not playing along with someone random whim to force a roleplay)
ST-RP is the only text server if you prefer text instead of cringe voice. Still requires you to make a whitelist on the forums but thats just to weed out the shitters and all that.
I tried to join a red dead rp and put out mutiple aplications for diffrent servers multiple times and never could get in. I gave up after 2 months of trying. Big sad
I tried fivem and got bored real quick. GTA Roleplaying servers should be like gta samp where if you broke law no talking your way out but get chase down and that’s fun.
I got denied from one because i wanted to gain a deep understanding of the rules and if you get denied from thrre you cany try again haveing to join there discord though is not that big of a deal
I read that some blacksmiths are skilled to shoe horses so maybe the ones that do and are fond of horses, keep them as treats. Which is odd because why not sell it at the stable? Horses love biscuits/ cookies
you know, I have the same background as you, Arma3 RP and DayZ and Idk man, it could be that these games were too chaotic and toxic but in RedM people just want to literally "RP-talk" everything, but at the same time I also want to experience some crime, shootings, etc... I want some wild west but haven't seen a single server like this for RDR2
Some good serious RP servers - - RanchRP - WildRP (Best) - WildWestRP - Highstakes Atleast these are some i have experience with and like from watching others RP.
to me it seems like the problem here is that they're using a game that is 90% open fields and 10% actual town so players are hard to actually find. plus some servers just having terrible mechanics that drive players away some people talk about server rules but. rules make an rp server. without rules you could just shoot a guy and run away without saying a word which is horrible for actual rp, but is something i feel like these people *actually want* for some reason.
we have a mute friend that RPs all the in fiveM we get her on one day on redM on forgotten trails and they ban her for under age and for being medically mute. "All admins and mods have the right to make ANY decisions on the server" You must be 18+ to be able to play and also have a mic to voice (set on Push to talk) and speak english on the server. this is the rule they are talking about it says be able to dose not say mandatory.
I used to play on Syn County about a year ago (before they removed the whitelist) and I loved it. There were things that were frustrating, like how robbing people was op and getting robbed left you feeling frustrated with limited ways to get your stuff back or retaliate but finding a gang or group of people helped a lot. I can say that most of the people on there were great role players and cultivated rich stories that I still think of fondly today. Shout out to the McGavins! No group on the server was perfect but yall were so welcoming and helpful, riding out to back me up or helping guide me when I needed help. -Mabel Bee (the horse trainer/doctor and her husband Seabass the Blackwater Fisherman)
I’ll also say that there were so many different things for your character to do, it made it easy to diversify. I did many things, like bird training, horse training, bounty hunting, I wrote a book about bird training, befriended two stunt brothers, a time traveling schemer and his gang, had a whole arc with a serial killer, sold pies under the table to different gangs, went on police raid ride alongs, and was a doctor. Each thing was so much fun! Being silly made it so much fun. Shout out to the guy who lost his legs getting run over by a horse and joyously appreciated the donkey legs swapped his real legs out for from a dead donkey nearby. It ended up becoming a key part of his character. When you find a server with people who appreciate it and want to rp for the sake of rping, it can be so damn enjoyable.
The concept of FiveM and RedM roleplay was really good, but now it feels more like a gamemode, with everything being organized in Discord servers filled with too many kids. RP is dead. If you're truly into roleplay and have also roleplayed in Arma, you simply won't find the same experience with any of these games anymore. Almost nothing, except for Dungeons & Dragons, offers roleplay that is genuinely good.
If I can say, don't know how much this will be listened to, but the red dead PC rp scene is much different than the Xbox scene. There's definitely some connections you can spot in these rp servers, but in Xbox you constantly feel like you're missing era's worth of story's, split between million of mini groups, all working near the same ideas because the game doesn't give them much to work with.
@@Niko_Bellic2 They have a free set of tokens per day so you can generate like 5 songs I think? But you can also pay for a sub which gives you like 2500 tokens a month
I've played on a sever called ranch which is a white listed server, the community most part isnt very toxic. Very rp heavy the only down side is if you piss off the wrong admin, they can litterly ban you for some reasn they come up with and call it their golden rule.
If you feel like taking another crack at rdr rp, I'd recommend Ranch Roleplay, granted I haven't played on it in about a year since getting burnt out on rp. I can't tell you what their whitelist situation looks like, they added that months after I joined. But from what I remember it had some really solid rp, staff, and made all of its custom scripts in-house rather than the hodgepodge you see on a lot of servers that tends to cause technical issues.
Did they go WL after that massive player increase from the other server shutting down? I played there before the que times were awful and it was one of the better ones
The only reason that bank heist was going so well is probably because the two parties were OOC friends so they were going through the motions and having fun with it. Any other time on these so-called RP servers, it escalates into a shitstorm and people end up getting banned.
I had some fantastic experiences RPing on my first red dead server in its early days. But tech issues were constant. And so to were people power gaming and intersocial drama and people in staff roles abusing power. If you get past the cringey interactions, I imagine you'd just have picked up on those same experiences and eventually lost your vibe for it. Is it worth it? Depends on you as a person and what you're looking for. I Overall don't regret devoting the better part of a year to a red dead online server.
Never played RedM, I’ve had my fair share of Console Roleplay and it is BORING or maybe I’m just worn out. Makes the Trader role look fun in a way. I’d recommend taking a look into it, I’m not gonna name a server only because I don’t wanna promote anything, but from the looks of it you’d have a lot more fun their than on RedM. The only cons that come up to mind is most servers are unorganized, dead or have terrible staff. Then in-sessions just beware of griefers and hope that one of the people you ride pass or find in towns are players in the server. But honestly with how dead Red Dead Online its self is, it shouldn’t be a struggle. Depending on the server and its staff you could put no effort in your setup.
The whole signup for the server with bunch of rules is for players who do not want random kids coming in and doing random stuff, ruining the immersion for others who are quite some heavy role players.
The problem with most role play mods for me is the player's Mic bro. They stand there for a full 10 seconds before saying in the most redditor voice ever erm. Actually, I don't want that
Just like with every game the majority of roleplay servers aren't great. Id recommend looking into wildrp (or ranch rp if you want a easier application process but lesser quality roleplay). I have yet to experience or watch better roleplay then what I have seen and played within WildRP. There is a decent amount of rules, but the rp quality makes it worth the time.

Ye and "can you hop of the horse please"...ye wasn't born y-day. She's getting an insta bullet to the face.
The same story with the same characters (tards)
Glad to see I'm not the only one who remembers Takeshi's castle
Wildrp is probably the best for actual roleplay as most the folks there actually know how to roleplay and create interesting scenes/narratives. It's also probably the hardest to get into for that reason but might be worth it.
Cringe
I guess the best is improvising stuff on the fly
It’s very gatekept. Applications can only be applied once a month, reasons for denial are not specified. If you try to ask, perma ban. It’s just not worth it. Especially considering the application needs to be very long with specific language or you’ll get denied. And if you do pass, you’ll have to go through an interview. It border line feels like I’m applying for a job.
I second this, WildRP is run by wonderful folks at least in my experience with them
As a arma 3 server hoster
I saw a comment saying “they are reddit moderators” and it’s not wrong.
Calling wildRP elite😂
I’d call them “snobby”. Never have I ever encountered a server that wanted clips of you voice acting to get in. Or a server that REQUIRES your mic to be one of those wild desk mics. They’re so far up their own ass.

You have to fill out a form,
YOU MUST JOIN THEIR DISCORD,
You can't be (Whatever the admins decide.)
You can't have (Whatever the admins decide)
And when you finally get to the roleplay?
Its just people standing in a room typing at each other.
The bank heist rp was genuinely funny as fuck
If the challenge do a bank heist, I want to do a bank heist
Had a bit of this spill into console RDO once after a Moonshine sale in Blackwater
Guy tried asking me if I knew a criminal gang, but I was riding off to do a legendary bounty (the board was very close) and he started firing at me - long story short I killed him first and I apparently ruined his roleplay after I popped him and his buddy
Did you skin the legendary geeks?
That's still a better experience than I got. My first time around was: make a character, listen to the main plot, go out, get shot, come back to base, walk outside, survive long enough to go into Valentine, get shot, pop back into camp, go back to get my stuff, get shot before I even make it into town, go back to camp, go back into town more stealth like, make it to where I died last, find the guy that shot me, shoot him 3 times before I get shot, pop back into camp because I died like 3 times, turn around, go somewhere else, see a long road of nothing till I get shot again, pop back into camp because I got shot 4 times now, poke my head out of camp, get shot, gave up, and never played the game again.
the Takeshi's castle replay caught me off guard lol, love it
Having seen a playlist of it on RUclips it may have been stuck in my head
The main issues with Roleplay servers are toxic server owners who prioritize quantity over quality, biased staff who favor their friends, and players who can't separate RP from real life. I've experienced this firsthand. I play on WildRP now, but before that, I was on these problematic servers. The experience was awful. People don't understand the basics of RP. Instead of playing a character from that time period, they bring in a version of their real-life self. They stand around, mess around with friends, bully others (because they're weak in real life), and ruin the reputation of RedM. This behavior ruins the experience for those who genuinely want to enjoy RP
This is anpretty fair assessment

15% of players work until they get a role that have an actual gameplay
For the robbery, I think it's the rules that require the law to let the outlaw to have head starts for couple seconds, because otherwise people would just be shooting each the second there's bank robbery and will discourage people to rob a bank. So, hey at least have a chase first then you can shoot. I get it they sound to friendly when talking to the outlaw, but that's what you get for playing on public server. Which is why server like WIldRP require you to at least able to do voice acting

11:29 reminds me of servers for The Isle. spend 5 minutes just reading the body down rule.
I play on a whitelist one and I vastly prefer it over the regular RDO. But I think it highly depends on the type of player. I enjoyed the entire process of crafting a backstory and doing slow tasks. The fact that I can go for a trail ride, build a shop, own a cabin, hunt/fish, without the RDO experience of a tomahawk or shotgun to the back with no lead up
Maybe don’t let me and everyone else sneak up on you in RDO

I did have a blast on WWRP, despite its long application process. I was on it for a year and had a lot of fun, but ended up being banned because some admins had their delicate egos shattered. Honestly, EVERY Red Dead RP server has at least one flaw; bad design, poor UI, buggy gameplay, power-hunger staff ... the list just goes on. 😔
I have no words for the logic of robbing a bank while the doors are open with someone hogtied in the doorframe lol
The Frontier and Dakota River Bend is the only two I had a good experience for US servers.
Funny thing about this is that a youtuber made a video about trolling in RedDeadRP, and the guy was just sitting there minding his business and everyone just got mad at him for no reason 😂
My big issue is that with the bank heist (the one interaction he got), he could have been replaced with a NPC and it wouldn't have made a difference.
people have always asked for rdr undead nightmare 2, though its always just been right infront of them the whole time, rdo and rd roleplay

You know when hammering a nail in the game is harder than in real life, its going to be a bad time.
The thing is, the roleplay groups are very hit or miss. Either they’re very good servers, or really bad.
Rockstar roleplays seem to have a BIG problem with people just doing Cops/Robbers
I've joined plenty of FiveM servers (besides NoPixel, I ain't waiting long queues) and it was all pretty much this
> Join
> Have no money for anything, cheapest car is like 15k and you have 3k
> Go to work (pay is shit)
> Get robbed
> Buy a gun to protect yourselves
> Get robbed anyways, coz you're not really thinking you're suppose to be ready for a quick draw during any interaction with another player
> Try crime
> Get scammed ("im a criminal so I can rob you")
> Try crime by yourself
> Get arrested by cops
> Want any job cooler than delivery driver ? Gotta apply on forums/discord
Yeah, safe to say I'm just playing GTA Online, coz it's less frustrating
Big sad

to me it seems like the problem here is that they're using a game that is 90% open fields and 10% actual town so players are hard to actually find. plus some servers just having terrible mechanics that drive players away
some people talk about server rules but. rules make an rp server. without rules you could just shoot a guy and run away without saying a word which is horrible for actual rp, but is something i feel like these people *actually want* for some reason.
we have a mute friend that RPs all the in fiveM we get her on one day on redM on forgotten trails and they ban her for under age and for being medically mute. "All admins and mods have the right to make ANY decisions on the server"

People from vrchat play rdr rp. They literally just stand there and do nothing

I have no understanding what’s not translating between fun, goofy, light hearted gta rp and, this…
It's difficult to find a balance between immersion.creativity of everyone trying to be original and trolls.
Why blacksmith had biscuits for sale? Maybe because he didn't wanted them and figured he would sell them?
Yeah the rules do ruin any sense of realism in most interactions
The voice issue is due to too many people being in the area, it's a red dead issue not a redm issue
I Overall don't regret devoting the better part of a year to a red dead online server.
ever have the issues with the voice in the ingame voice system just turn ur mic off and on in the settings and it should be ok , vids great
Never played RedM, I’ve had my fair share of Console Roleplay and it is BORING or maybe I’m just worn out.
The skip to the piano had me dying 😂😂😂
You couldnt hear the other players because its one big clique and they talk on discord and purposley alienate and haze new players
