Had this procedure done today. The doctor put in eye drops to make the pupil a lot smaller. After half an hour she put in eye drops to numb the eye, then she carried out the treatment. I sat in a char with my chin on the apparatus (like you do for an eye test). She told me that it would feel like an elastic band hitting my eye, and that is exactly what it felt like. The machine clicked a few times to fire the laser, and each time I felt a very slight pressure, but it wasn’t really painful. I went away for an hour and had a coffee. When I came back, she checked my eyes and made an appointment for me to go back in a week. She also gave my eye drops that I have to use in both eyes six times a day.
I can honestly say, the only real pain I experienced was a light headache after she put the pupil constricting eye drops in, but the pain soon went away. The laser hitting my eye was just like a little bit of pressure- easily tolerable. I hope I have alleviated any anxiety anyone has, who is going in for this treatment.
I had it done this morning, and I am totally fine.

No pain whatsoever. To be honest, I never really had any pain after the surgery. They gave me dexamethasone eye drops to use six times a day for a couple of days, and they were stingy for a couple of seconds after application, but apart from that I have no pain at all. The surgery seems to have been successful, and I have to go back in three months for a check up. Hope this helps.

Hi. I did this day before yesterday and I completely echo my experience with you. I have a slight irritation in both eye like a tiny grain of salt stuck in but I can see normally. I don’t feel any different but I guess it’s too early. How do you feel now. Can you feel less pressure since it’s been a week?

Had this surgery yesterday, and spent the evening in excruciating pain. I was not informed about the level of pain I would experience after the surgery. After taking a heavy dose of acetaminophen, the pain eased enough for me to sleep. Upon opening my eyes this morning, the pain had minimized to a dull ache. I believe the ache will subsided in the coming days. I was not given any eye drops to use following the surgery. If you have this surgery scheduled, ask questions about the pain level that would be experienced after the numbing drops wear off.
Just had this done this week in preparation for an ICL and I also had excruciating pain. It’s was totally intolerable. The pain was better the next day but I couldn’t open my eyes comfortable for 2 days after. Now I’m 4 days out and things are better, but vision is still blurry and I have big streaks of light when looking at something bright. I was told the whole thing would be quick and close to painless but it has been everything but.
Find the best ophthalmologist before getting ANY procedure or surgery! I had a laser iridotomy today and felt nothing, and now my eye feels mildly scratchy. I went to a top notch doctor and would not trust just anyone!
You couldn't had this surgery because every Doctor on earth would have given you steroid eye drops after this procedure. This procedure is not the least bit painful.
I had one earlier today-- (had cataract surgery Sept,8th, and VITRECTOMY at the same time... and this process today. He bagan by trying to put a cuping device against my eye- and i was squirming a bit- and the nurse asked- "is it just pressure or uncomfortable"-- I said- uncomfortable HELL-- it HURTS.. He asked if she gave me something started with I, but I can't remember what as they DID numb it.. and she said NO- and he told her that was very important. She took me BACK to the PREP room and gave me p drops (started with prepercane sounded like) and it got number- and she took me back and he did it-- and all I felt was pressure at that point- and the little 'tick tick' sounds with a quick "tap" feel of something- no pain then. That was 3 horus ago- and it's easing off-- but it ACHED-- not a sharp pain- just achey. I'm NOT one that is a wimp at pain-- I was actually mashed between two trucks in 99 and was OUT walking around in 2 weeks when docs told me I'd be DEAD... so pain I can handle-- but THAT got me today.. a bit more than I wanted!! HOWEVER-- if you get the proper stuff before it starts-- there was nothing but "pressure" at that point.
I already had this on my right eye. It's fast and painless .. after laser only a little pain tolerable ..I have antibiotic/antiinflammatory drops after the procedure...I'm totally fine
I have congenital Oklahoma. I want to say they did my surgery either when I was four or six. I’ve had to have so many surgeries I don’t remember lol. The procedure is worked wonders. The only time my eye pressure ever got above like 12 was when I had a cataract. It was like 30 then .. my lens literally ruptured. But once they took the lens out and cleaned up where the cataract was I haven’t had issues with pressure.
Can this be done in close angle glaucoma patients?

I have massive glare at the bottom since the procedure was taken place. My doctor said before the procedure that there would be no downside of this procedure. . My life is totally runnied because this effect comes into place when i am working in front of my computer. I will go back to the hospital to complain about my issues. I am hoping they will find a soultion.

Hello, my Iridotomy took place in Europe, and I wanted to share my experience on a forum like this. During my hospital visit for eye checks, I received some concerning news. Both suturing and replacing the hole, or tattooing, have a poor cost-benefit ratio and are considered highly invasive procedures. Additionally, the latter option is not available in my country. I can provide more details if you're interested, but essentially, I am experiencing the visibility of two or even more linear white lines at the bottom of my sight. @@sharphealthcare
Had one done on each eye June/July 2018...Narrow angle glaucoma but now see a weird thing in my left eye...my eye seems like it was cut? weird thing only see in bright light...also mention is there any link between tooth/gum disease and glaucoma? Can untreated cavities for years lead to eye problems? Hmm

@@ambrosia1917 Both eyes in the top part of the iris. The second hole in left eye was done at an angle after I reported the line that had appeared in my vision in the right (which moves with my eyelid movements indicating it is light being diffracted through the eyelashes). There is a less distinct line on the left, so I guess the “drilling” on an angle was partially effective.
Had this done today, was very worried, but it all went very well. Hardly any pain and no complications. I read all the risks online and you get carried away with it, whereas most studies say these are rare. The hole is tiny and covered by my eyelid. I was having slight pain in the eye and it’s now gone,

I’m having this done next month. Super nervous. I have no pain now but they said it’s very narrow. Glad to see it’s not too painful.

No I haven’t done it yet. I am still afraid to get a procedure done with Covid still bad out there. I will do it when it calms down a bit.
@@Brenda0531 thanks..well i went today and i read alot of bad reviews regarding that surgery and sounds so scary and easy to get permanent damage to eye ,even permanent loss vision ..so i dont know what i will do...good luck to you if you will go

My father has problem of glucoma from last 7years but we come know in last 3 years ..So he lost his 75%vision..so doctor surgied their left eye and tranfer the pressure To right eye because this eye is totally damaged due to retina detachment ..And still after surgery pressure increased daily of both eyes..For this problem please give me solution to protect my father from darkness...I hope you can understand the feelings of a daughter and reply me soon
due to glucoma 98 % vision lossed. but pressure of eye is heigh. one Dr. suggested that one eye injection is given and after that lesser is done. but another Dr. suggested that no eye injection is given. some eye drop added and after 6 to 7 days only lesser karge. because some time due eye (IVI) injection cause increases the pressure thats why only lesser is doing. I don't understand which Dr. is write. name Eye injection doesn't show.
In screening of eye swelling and blood spots is seen.

We had Trabeculoctomy done in January, still have the crucial stitch left. Risk of infection has not been explained.
High recommend not getting a Trabeculectomy. Go with a Canaloplasty. This a far better and far safer procedure.

I am having this laser procedure not because of glaucoma but because of an ICL surgery to correct my -7.50 high myopia and astigmatism that will occur after this Iridotomy - I am nervous about this procedure, if something goes wrong I will not have the ICL and it would have been for nothing and my vision can even get worst that it is.
How it is going with the icl?

Pain free my ass. The drops gave me one of the worst headaches in my life and nauseous. My pupil stayed tiny for 24 hrs. I’m dreading getting my other eye done!
For me today the procedure itself really hurt, but 15 mins afterward was able to drive myself home. About 2 hours later anaesthetic drops wore off and now about 8 hours later I still feel like I've been visited by the sandman and have an annoying headache - like pain in the back of my eyes. On the bright side I have a dramatically lower risk of sudden complete and irreversible blindness. Small price to pay I reckon. 😉

Doctors surgeried their eye in which they transmit the pressure of left eye to right eye due damged of right because of retina detachment . This is very misleading. You can have an open drainage angle and still have drainage problems due to the trabecular mess work not draining properly. In this case a hole is not made in the Iris but in the Trabecular mess work. So, Laser Iridotomy can have different functions according to the type of drainage problem one might have. You should have included this in your video.
My dad suffers from this disease. Doctor says the condition of the eyes is not very good. His right eye is 2% good and the left eye is 12% good. An operation has already been done to decrease of pressure of the eye. My question is, is it possible to get his sight back as before?

Far as I know once you lose vision it is permanent loss. Educate yourself and accept whatever happens, the psychological part is stressful, use mindfulness meditation but talk to your ophthalmologist and educate yourself, many pseudo scientists out there selling BS?
@@imamhasan5092 His information is incorrect. It is unlikely his eyesight will return to how it was in the past. This procedure is primarily meant to prevent further damage caused by glaucoma. Visual loss is typically permanent as another user said. But you should talk to your dad's ophthalmologist to get a professional opinion.
Unfortunately our treating ophthalmologist is a bully and gives no explanation. The head of department is even worse. Take care everyone and keep your stress levels low. Stress is a major factor.

Be careful about this surgery. Ask about all the side effects before going ahead with it. I had it done about two years ago, and I still see two fluorescent white lines in both eyes. They are very annoying. (My doctor did not tell me about the side effects before the surgery. After I told him about the white lines, he said they would be gone after several months. But two years later, they are still there. )
I'm really sorry to hear about that. I hope the lines somehow clear up.
I kinda know how to feel as I had a laser iridotomy done two months ago, and now I see "ghost images" whenever I look at something bright when the surroundings are darker. For example, when I look at a street light at night, I see the actual light, but in addition I see a light slightly to the right and another to the left.
These images are very annoying. Doc said I would stop noticing them after a couple weeks, but they are still here, and they don't seem like they are going anywhere.
I knew there was a risk of this happening before I got the iridotomy, but I let my doctor talk me into going ahead with it.
To anyone reading this: KNOW THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROCEDURE BEFORE GOING AHEAD WITH IT!

Mine lied to me about the procedure . Said it'll only be a little blurred vision fur a few hours and nothing more. I have the white lines, hazy blurry vision, a glare that it's blinding when i look at light plus halos around any light source . I can not go outside during the day without getting a raging headache after a few minutes of being out there. I cant handle day light outside at all anymore. Double vision . The list goes on. Come to find out after my doc lied not only about side effect but i didn't have glacoma . I'm devastated . I was told by the doc my brain will adjust till ask this and i won't notice it as much or I'll Just have to get use to this . What the hell!!!! I want to laser the hell out his vision and tell him to just suck it up
@@AutumnRain1111 I'm sorry to hear your experience. It's tough to deal with all these side effects. I guess for now we just have to live with them and hopefully there will be a way to fix them sometime later. I think wearing a pair of sun glasses might help a little bit. Now I wear them wherever I go, and I feel kind of better
I have the same issue. I am thinking about to ask them to close it by suturing the hole and replace it if necessary.

Glaucoma can lead to blindness but the treatment consequences can lead to the same and also more side effects and has only 65% success HMMM NO
Prevent this by continuous exercise program, a good nutritious diet, a quality fish oil pill.
