- Hello and welcome back to another video I start from Bovey Tracey on this fine sunny day following the old railway line I then end up walking through a field full of grazing sheep. I then head through Hisley wood nature reserve and stop by Hisley Bridge, Gradner Rocks and head into Lustleigh Cleave I hope you enjoy the video.

O you haven't seen my other video's then😂 thanks Darren really appreciated. You will see a lot of walking in my video's but I tend to have a drink at camp but I don't do the reviews and I do show me cooking sometimes but I do have a nice big meal at camp and stuff you wouldn't normally see people eating in the middle of Dartmoor 😁👍
Haven’t seen your videos for a while and it’s good to get back to your relaxed style and excellent camera work. The effort you put in shooting and editing shows in the end product. Really enjoyed this and a place I have yet to walk. Once out of lockdown that area is on my list. Thanks very much.

Great vid fella. Did some wild camping there last weekend with the lad. Stunning. Little path down from the bridal to the river, and it was beautiful. Had a great night.

Lovely video Carl and looked an excellent walk so on my 'to-do' list. Any rucksack that keeps your back from saturating your clothing is good in my book and it looked fine on you. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the next video.

@@DartmoorExplorer They may be good for travelling on the London Tube because they warn other passengers you are around with 'Mind the gap'
Glad you did Gradner Rocks, perhaps the easiest tor to reach on your route and easy to find as it's marked on maps. This part of Dartmoor is lovely but not if mileage is an important factor - learnt that the hard way 😀

Hi Carl, another great video👍 nice hike with stunning scenery. Those ants were busy, certainly could hear them on audio. Woodlands were full of life, ponies, bluebells and birds. Wonderful video, very calming and peaceful. Thanks for sharing, atvb to you😁
Thank you it definitely is stunning there and I was very surprised that I didn't get one bite of them ants although the day after I did notice I had a tick on my arm. And your right it was peaceful that is why my walking to and from camera shots5that I would normally put music to I just left it with the natural environment sounds😁👍

Thanks Mark the weather was great a bit hot though but I shouldn't complain about that. The trouble with trying to get better camera angles and all that means I can't do as many miles😁👍

Thanks Mike really appreciated yes it takes ages on the way from Bovey to Lustleigh cleave it took me just over 4 hours and coming back the same way and without the little diversions it took just over 1 and a half hours 😁👍
It was worth it! Trying to get back out on the moors myself as live close being in Plymton used to go out alot years ago. Keep up the good work!

The hut looks like it could be what is known as a platelayers hut, Carl. They were used as shelter by men maintaining the railway. There would probably have been a stove inside although the huts were commonly made from uninsulated concrete panels and difficult to get warm. In that area it might have been used as a "fogging" hut - a man would shelter there in foggy weather to place detonator cartridges on the track that go bang when a train passes over them - this, and a hand-held flag, was to warn the driver that the next signal (which couldn't be seen due to fog) was at "stop". The railway in that area has quite an interesting history from Moretonhampstead & South Devon Railway days of 1866. Watch out for woodland ants as they spray formic acid if they feel threatened. It smells like vinegar and you wouldn't want it on your skin or eyes.

Having watched your video content I see no problem, Carl. Your photos were accepted on the DEWC Facebook page. Yes, DEWC Admins are wary of links posted on the group Facebook page. That's because we're not prepared to be swamped by links to other pages, channels, content, adverts, self-promotions, or material at odds with DEWC group standards. Some folks have previously joined DEWC solely to get viewers for their own channel and even dangerous content. One example was a link to dangerous gas stove use, tree destruction, and camp-fires repeatedly lit on the moor - that's against DEWC standards and DNPA Byelaws, stupid, and harmful. The poster had thousands of RUclips followers who mistakenly thought he was clever. DEWC wont accept such claptrap and the chap was immediately and permanently excluded from the Group. Acceptable content and standards are acceptable, c**p isn't!
@@richardbarrett3809 thank you and it was after I posted my day hike photos that I had wondered if it was allowed. And I suppose it could be related to camping as someone migt find a new spot to camp. I share my trips on the DEWC for others to enjoy as I enjoy there photos but I share pics and videos I don't do it for subscribers but if I did get subscribers through it well that's great but it's more about sharing the beautiful Dartmoor landscape and I do hope to get up on Exmoor sometime 😁👍

Lovely area, that ' building ' is an old Railway man's hut, when working the line its somewhere for them to have a rest, brew and eat, would have had a little wood burner in it a table and some chairs. You wear that bergen very low, tighten the shoulder straps a bit more, that's why they got adjustments.
Yes it's a stunning area and thanks for the information a couple of other's have said the same. I have started to wear the Bergen higher and it does feel a lot better thanks mate😁👍

There are three ways to pronounce Bovey. One with an 'o' as in 'bother', which this narrator uses. The other is 'o' as in 'oval'. But the one that makes you stand out as a local is not an ''o' sound at all, but 'u', as in Buvey.
I hadn't noticed how I pronounced it but im always pronouncing things differently 😂😂😁👍

You sure are lucky living in that area, dartmoore is a beautiful place, we holidayed there a few times years ago in a cottage at the bottom of wind tore, then on a farm at manaton, how is the allotment going?
Hi Lewis thanks for watching yes I'm very lucky to have this here and I'm sure you will be back down this way at some point. I've had to give up my allotment in in Exeter as I'm moving out of the catchment area but I've managed to get one close to where I'm moving and that one will do for now but it has no water so I'm on a short waiting list for another that is a little further from where I'm moving to but it has water and the scenery is spectacular the wife says it's not about the views but I disagree as long as I'm not driving then there will be nothing like a hard day down the allotment then sitting down with a nice can of kronnenburg and admiring the views 😁👍
At the end of the day it's what makes you most happy that is important, have you seen the robotic gardener on you tube he has some great water ideas for the allotment as he don't gave any on his either. I suffer from stress a lot and when I am out walking or in the garden I always feel happier, my wife has noticed that I am becoming a loner, we been shopping today and there were people arguing in the car park, while I had others pushing past me in the shops, so yes I do prefer to be out in the countryside rather that in a built up area, I have fields front and back of my home and would not want it any other way. Keep doing what you are doing.
