Quite a fabulous collection young lady. I grew up in a music store for 45 years starting in 1965. The collection here is ultra fantastical. Everything you show in this video I've seen in the shop we had. My parents sold everything in the music business. Mainly Vinyl. Starting out with 8 tracks, then to cassettes to 45 and 33 RPMs to CDs. They retired many many years ago, but the warehouse at our property is chock full of posters, vinyl, 78,s, record players, etc, etc, etc. Your showing of your dads music collection is something I love to see. Small in comparison to my fathers, but very awesome. Frenchie (Marie), you have some awesome content on your channel.

I grew up in a family of musicians and music lovers. Dad was classical, mom country and western, uncles who played guitar, drums, a cousin who studied piano at Julliard. When my youngest son was 8, he asked for 2 CDs, Alan Jackson's Everything I Love and Yellow Submarine by the Beatles he got both. Years later when he was in 8th grade he came home very dejected. Seems his history teacher gave an extra project. He had a list of about 50 songs from the Vietnam war era. Student who could bring in the most would get the extra credit. I smiled and pulled out my CDs I had all of the songs on the teacher's list, on the original CDs-( no way I was going to let my vinyl albums go to school )
When asked where I had gotten the CDs my son replied "My dad really loves music"
PS your dad and I have a lot of the same albums🙂

My music library has about 1,000 vinyl LPs and 500 CDs, mostly classical, but other genres including rock, jazz, blues, swing, big band and show tunes. I've been an audiophile since age 9, I'm now 66 and my favorite records are direct-to-disc, in which a tape recorder isn't used and the microphone feeds the cutter head. It's tough for the musicians because the entire side, 17 to 20 minutes, must be cut at one time, without a break. A fantastic direct-to-disc is Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Fawn on one side and Stravinsky's Firebird Suite on the other. The Los Angeles Philharmonic under Erich Leinsdorf on Sheffield Records.

Greetings from Scotland! WOW Marie, your Dad has an incredible Elvis record collection! His total vinyl record collection must be enormous! His taste in music is quite varied isn't it! Also a great collection of DVD's and CD's, I noticed he has just about every album of Queen - he's already my kinda guy! Anyone who likes Queen is ok with me! 👏👏 I was born in 1954 but I don't have a single vinyl record, no CD's or DVD's either - I much prefer MP3 or MP4 because they are easily stored, regardless how much you collect!

Salutations d'Ecosse!

I have a pile of well-worn vinyl that hasn't been moved in decades. You've given me a reason to dig through them. A few thoughts:
    - I too, have several of those Elvis albums (my wife was a huge fan.)
    - Bill Haley and Jerry Lee Lewis were two of the earliest and best rock & rollers.
    - The cover of the American Graffiti album features a little deuce coupe!
    - The "Country Roundup" CD featured Patsy Cline.
    - The "Country Roads" CD featured:
-- The Soggy Bottom Boys performing the movie version of Man of Constant Sorrow.
    -- Dolly Parton
    -- Willie Nelson
    -- Linda Ronstadt
    - You paused at the ZZ Top CD...excellent artist for a reaction.

Hi Marie , how was your weekend 😃 That's a impressive Record 💿 Collection you both have especially for all the Elvis fans, your Dad & mine would have gotten on like a house on fire both being such admires of the 👑 Rock n roll ,I didn't see the festive blue Xmas album which I remember having as a child along with a early 50s hits with a risque couple dancing that made a lasting impression on me and lit the spark for my Love of music that we both share. There's some artists like Loreena McKennitt & Tony white you shown that I'm not familiar with so I'll look them up, it was unexpected to see the Dallas tv theme tune one of my all time favourite shows. I do miss the double creative album covers and always preferred playing vinyl to downloading to a phone, it's a more enjoyable process don't you think, and I'm surprised you haven't done a reaction to Grease's summer nights by now, it's probably down to copy right, there's always the Bee gees you know who wrote it , another amazing vocal group. You wanted to know what's in our music choices so here's mine 🎶 if there's anything you like let me know & send it to you along with other gifts I'm searching for. Johnny cash's Ride this train 🔹Billy Fury essential 🔹Rockerbillys gravest hits 🔹Roy Orbison & royal philharmonic 🔹 Natalie & Nat king Cole duet "unforgettable"🔹Real John Barry 🔹The Doors soundstage performances🔹 sunshine on my shoulder John Denver 🔹The Carpenters Gold dvd🔹A Star is born(76)🔹 Tom petty & Heartbreakers anthology🔹 War of the worlds Live on stage🔹 Gerry Rafferty Baker Street album🔹 Blonde greatest hits on dvd/cd🔹 Queens greatest hits on dvd🔹Roxy music platinum collection 🔹 Kate Bush The whole story🔹The best of Tears for Fears mad world 🔹This is Spinal tap special edition 🔹 Eurythmics video album 🔹A-ha the definitive singles🔹 Belinda Carlisle's A place on earth and to many more to mention 🎸🎵 before I go I just want to let you know when the notification was sent Elvis showed up on my TV, and after your video there was Jimmy Somerville on another channel, what are the chances, everything really is connected. Thanks again Marie🌼+Farther Bless You both 💟 sorry the comments are so long.

Many of us on here have probably owned every form of entertainment media from the old 45s, the LPs, CDs, and now digital. I also remember going thru my parents' record collection too. I would bet money that every one of our parents had their fair share of classics and also oddball music too. There were no Elvis records in my parents' collection. None! For some ungodly reason, my mom had ALL of Pat Boone's albums. My dad, was a history buff. So, presidential speeches were his collections along with the West Point Glee Club, circa 1960. My sister listened to The Partridge Family endlessly. I didn't have a record collection. I had 8-Tracks! Ask your dad about those godawful things! But, I also had a transistor radio which, on every Saturday, I tuned to "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem". And, whenever I had a Saturday with nobody else home, I watched "American Bandstand" and "Soul Train" on television. On weekend evenings, I could tune my little transistor radio to a Raleigh, NC station and picked up the "Grand Ol' Opry".

My Dad apparently had a record store when Elvis was just getting started and popular (before I was born). He begrudgingly admitted to me when I was a late teen that he never thought Elvis would last...Then again, he also thought Willie Nelson would never make it big. That was a very long time ago. But, he loved Patsy Cline and many others that made it big/huge as well (Patsy in part due to Willie N's songwriting skills). I guess different tastes are always the thing. Even though I was just a pup, I wonder where we would be if Buddy Holly and others that died so young would have made it past their early days.

My dad was a classic trained pianist, and played in big bands, like Benny Goodman, Tommy Shaw, the Dorsey Brothers, and more. That's the music we grew up listening to. But, I'm a Rock n Roller at heart, always will be.

I have over 200 C.D.'s and still have 63 vinyl albums at last count!!! I saw a Loreena McKennitt C.D. I could not tell if it was THE BOOK OF SECRETS OR THE VISIT!! The cover art looks a lot alike. I have a lot of her music!!!! I can even listen to some Death Metal. The early Death Metal was much better. In my opinion!!!! To each their own. If you like later death metal than great. What a great collection he has!!! Some amazing artists and so many of each!!! I just counted and I have over 1200 CDs, about 580 vinyl LPs, and maybe 200 cassette tapes. See your Dad's 45s was bitter-sweet for me. When I worked at Indiana Dunes National Lakshore I was running too late on my way back from a weekend in Detroit, so I went right to work at the beach area where I worked with all the stuff I was bringing from home, including several LPs, and my whole 45 collection (probably 100 at least). In the hot sun n the car they all melted. Had to throw them all away. It would have been worth being late and losing an hour's pay!!! (or I could have brought them into the visitor center to stay cool until the end of my shift). "Coulda, woulda, shoulda!" Some of my prizes are "Meet the Beatles," autographed Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Janis Ian albums. I did have Pastic Ono Band "Give Peace a Chance" with the original Black and White poster of John and Yokoi nude. I left all my books and records at the house I shared in college while I did bird research up north. When I came back my records had been used by a troubled high school student who was staying at this house (The Newman Center-the Catholic student ministry center). He played my albums, used them to sort weed to roll joints and mixed things up That is one album that I never saw again. I saw him later at Michigan State University and asked him about it. He denied taking it. Could have been one of his friends, but he was the only one living at the house at the time. Oh well. I do have the CD, but its not the same. And of course, no poster. Thanks for this video-- love to see more. This is the kind of thing that I love on your channel!!!

Your dad has a very nice collection. I still have a dozen vinyl albums but haven't played them in at least 30 years. A nice turntable (from about 1975) is still connected to my system but it primarily gathers dust. I inherited about 90 cassettes a few years ago and am slowly working thru converting them to MP3. Boxcar Willie is a typical artist (1930s depression style music) on the cassettes so I'm in no big rush. I have at least 350 CDs. 300 CDs are loaded in an RCA carousel CD player, hooked into my stereo system. You can select a particular song, or CD or by groups. It will also load and play them randomly. I have a similar unit for DVDs but it only holds 200 disks. I also have a storage problem because I can't convince myself to get rid of all the empty jewel boxes. A caution on collecting something for profit. You really have to have an "in" of some sort or you're always late selling your whatever. I've tried stamps, coins, precious gems, and of course the big one, day trading in the stock market. Always someone claiming to have made a bundle, but statistically, there are many many losers for every winner. You'll sleep much better if you just get a day job you enjoy, and don't worry about what other people have (or claim to have).

Traveled a lot from country to country in the 80's and 90's so I bought a limited number of cassettes and CD's. Some CD's in the early 2000's also. I noticed one Gipsy Kings CD on the shelf. Loved them as an alternative to pop and rock, which I also liked. Probably bought most of what they made on both cassettes and CD's. Total of all music maybe 50 cassettes and 50-100 CD's.

It was fun to open the record jackets to find pictures like you see with Elvis or lyrics written out for each song. Sometimes there were posters inside you could put on your wall. There were lots of fun "Easter eggs" you could play with.
That's a neat collection of your dad's. Lots of records and CDs including Ennio Morricone who wrote the score for the spaghetti westerns (The Good, The Bad and the Ugly for example). You might want to watch those at some point. There's a great orchestral performance you could react to that's performed by one of the European orchestras.

I own the Edition Bachakademie, by Helmuth Rilling. I have a lot of popular music, as well. Your father has great taste in music. Queen are my favorite band. I see he also has some Barry White and Tom Jones. Such music will make any man a father.

Hi French Fry!!! Now you know why a lot of people are enjoying the resurgence of vinyl records. Besides the sound, you have a tactile piece of product. Open it up and you get, in some albums, a foldout with pictures and info. And you always get the lyrics either on the inside or on the record sleeve. A lot more fun than downloading a streamed piece of music.
Wondering why so many of the CDs were upside-down, though I'd venture to guess your Dad liked to read the spines from the bottom up instead of from the top down?

Yes, he puts them like this because of the way he reads the title 🥲

@@FrenchTastic I thought so. My Dad also reads all his paperwork in hanging file folders the opposite from the way I do too. Love you!

Currently I have very few CDs. When I was in highschool I had a decent collection of cassette tapes, that got stolen. Then I spend years collecting CDs until I had over five hundred, then those got stolen. I'd now like to start over with vinyl.

One of the great things about vinyl albums were the album covers and the fold outs, especially on live albums. Something you can only slightly reproduce with CDs and forget MP4s...I probably have 500+ vinyl and 300+ CDs.

First thing I will say is, I actually thought you were going through my music collection, as I have all those cd’s myself which makes me think me and your dad would get along really well (apart from the language as my french is not good) can I just say you pull out a cd of Tony Joe White, you should listen to that one, he did the original of Polk Salad, and if it on there a track called Ice cream Man.✊
And I have about 400+ Elvis Albums in my collection (I used to be a Elvis DJ for the UK fan club)

I don’t know how old her dad is but maybe he grew up in the 1960s did they teach English in french schools back then? So he could understand the lyrics of Elvis 😊 to fully understand elvis music, you have to understand the lyrics

Great collection! He has my utmost respect for hanging on to the 45 RPM records. I never kept mine. You need to ask your dad if you can take that Billy Joel CD to listen to. "New York State of Mind" and "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" are just 2 of his best. Thanks for sharing!

J’ai vu un CD de ton père de Bon Jovi, qui vient d’origine de Sayreville, New Jersey, USA, ma ville natale aussi. Ton père a une collection de musique variée et formidable! J’ai à peu près 100 CDs.

Bill Haley and the comets are known for one song rocking around the clock which is considered the exact origin of rock music or at least the song that started rock and roll. It’s the 50s style you know. Modern rock is totally different if just listen. The 60s and 70s changed music with the idea of beach music and surf music. 80s were more like money and new modern sounds like the keytair and the synthesizer. 90s were rap and more expressions in music with feelings also adding club dancing. The 2000s were rap and ladies in clubs with some new dance trends. 2010s were mostly fun and enjoying life as it comes.

He must have everything Elvis ever recorded - a very impressive collection! I also have that Rolling Stones triple album - it’s a great one. I have about 200 cds and a lot of digital music. No vinyl at all! I did have some but I sold it or gave it away and I don’t own a record player anymore. It was surprising to see the Communards in his collection, but then I remembered the French origin of the band name - the 1870s Paris Commune. Maybe that’s why he noticed the band. Also, Texas is a band from Scotland who had a big hit with a song called I Don’t Want A Lover. Good song!
