Nice explanation rui, i’ve trained Belgian malinois for like 3-4 years with the KNPV, my father trained for 55 years and still, i am 27 now and i growed up with working k9 shepherds, when i was 17 till 22 we had a Alabai (female) and a boerboel(Male), great protection dogs but not working dogs like the malinois, little bit slow reacting to the biting sleeve etc etc,now i have my own family and my daughter is 10 months old now, we have a German shepherd 5 year old male(no working dog) and i was planning to have another female (boerboel, bandog, cane corso, presa canario, but now my question to you is, what do you prefer, to do some bitework and some protection work but combined to a house dog to go along with my wife and daughter, i’ll find it hard to choose. Maybe you have a answer on my question 😅🤷🏼
Thanks for watching and the comment ! :) Yes boerboels and working GSD and Malinois are different animals :) If you get solid dog from those breeds the protection work is possible with any of them especially boerboel, bandog and presa ( not a big fan of canecorso no consistency at all ) , what I think is the boerboel is more balanced for a family life with kids
This is a great topic. I can't wait to see more. I was originally not interested in training my Boerboel for protection work, but now I might change my mind. I really like your approach of building the dogs confidence. What age do you typically start protection work with your Boerboels? Thanks,
When i watch these video's, i'm always wondering if you can use the same protection suit thats used with a gsd for a boerboel?...All the best wishes for 2024 🫶

Supposed not to , with GSD , Malinois you can get away with competition suits boerboels not recommended:)
