My mother, myself and youngest daughter were all born in Gloversville. My mother in 1906 on Stone St. and I was born on Cottage St. (now called Frontage Road) right were the Fire Dept. is located then my youngest daughter was born in Nathan Littauer Hospital in 1978. We moved to Kansas in 1979. I never will forget my home town as I walked all the various streets when I was a teen.
My mom was a Kobuskie, and also was born and raised in Gloversville. I lived there with my grandparents in the early 1970's and went to Kingsborough Elementary. I used to think the richest people in the world lived on Kingsboro Street. We used to live literally right next to Risendorph's tanning factory on Wilson Street. I can't believe we ate the fish we caught in their pond!
Fun fact about gloversville ... During the OJ Simpson's trial "The Glove" was actually made in gloversville and the president of the company testified at the trial...grando glove company...we were all so proud 😁... I remember they turned a church into a wholesale beer outlet in the early 90's...it was quite controversial... I stopped by every week 😏
That's not true at all .The OJ gloves got manufactured by Aris Gloves a subsidiary of Consolidated food Corporation , the Isotoner lights brand . Only 300 made . Sold exclusively by Bloomingdale's in NYC so whoever told you that lied to you .
Thanks for the wonderful tour. I understand the town got its name for the many gloves factories it had many moons ago. Do you have a video of a tour of these now closed facilities?
I know you commented a while back but I just had an enlightening conversation with someone who runs a Facebook page about Gloversville. The conversation highlights that all the people in power in this city care about is Main Street. 10 million dollar grant for Main Street. To heck with anything else…
Blast from the past. There is a big lake nearby. Great waterskiing and boating. I forget the name. Cabins and small homes. Great place

Gloversville another troubled impoverished city in upstate New York that lost all its industry.
I know you commented a while back but I just had an enlightening conversation with someone who runs a Facebook page about Gloversville. The conversation highlights that all the people in power in this city care about is Main Street.
