@Eliana Volfson yeah that’s my point. That revealing Silena early is the same as if Harry had killed Nagini in book two and both actions spoil the ending

“Disrespectful” is the best way to describe these movies. The studio just took the Percy Jackson name and haphazardly threw a junk movie together in a desperate cash grab. They knew there was a huge loyal fan base who were ready to see Percy come to the big screen and they totally took advantage of it
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a special effects artist: it doesn’t matter if you tell the director/producer it’s a terrible idea, or how many people tell them that, they always think they know better and insist on it anyway. These two movies are the ultimate example of that.
Grover was actually also meant to be on his own quest at the beginning, as at the end of The Lightning Thief he went out to look for the god Pan. This then led him to getting captured by the cyclops, which Percy was having dreams about due to the connection that Percy and Grover had. Those dreams and knowing Grover was in danger was why he wanted to go on the quest in the first place, to save his friend and also the camp, not because he wanted to be seen as the hero.
Actually, the Cruise ship is actually much more important than we think it is because its kind of a big thing in Trials of Apollo Ain't gonna spoil but have you ever wondered where Luke got the 'sponsors who gave the money to buy a goddam cruise ship?
I love the way that in the Percy Jackson series each character gets their moment to shine. Rick Riodran gives each character a moment at some point to explain why they do the things they do, what or who they care about, and their motivation. The movies just completely ignores all of that. Also, this movie not only goes against the book, but also simple logic.
@@IvvyExists145 I mean I understand that to a certain degree. Some great adaptations like Clockwork Orange, Game Of Thrones (season 1-6) or The Shining deviate from the books and are still great. But the Percy Jackson movies arent even particularly good even if you haven't read the books. The first one is okay at best and they ignore a ton of important context and plot points for the series as a whole. I think Riordan's take still works though. I can't find any myths concerning Ares that portray him as caring towards women. It's more that there aren't many myths that involve him being particularly nasty towards women, compared to the likes of Zeus or Poseidon. It's also interesting to note that despite the Amazons being descendants of Ares and worshippers of him, they never seem to have any major military victories in the myths they appear in, if at all. So I think Riordan's take on Ares still definitely works.
I’m so glad they never made a third movie, they would have made Nico blonde and evil or something. I’M SO JEALOUS OF THE HARRY POTTER MOVIES! (Also fun fact: Logan Lerman once said that he never even read any of the Percy Jackson books)
I'm not so sure that thats quite as bad as the people actually putting everything together not reading the books since the actors just take direction, but its still pretty lazy. There was one time when I was discussing with a friend how they would have continued these films with Luke gone. And... well, seeing how they made Hades the bad guy in the first movie and how they heavily implied that Luke was dead, we came to the conclusion that they would have probably aged up Nico (of course) and make him the villian. I bet that the idea was to make him and evil lord who brainwashed Luke and whose sole motivation is to see the gods fall. I have no proof, but I have no doubt.
Young Walker from the Adam project is going to be playing the new version of Percy Jackson in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians film and his voice over is so awesome and spot on with the monologue in the book it's far better than this you should check it out
This is what ticks me off about Hollywood and the movie industry. You've got a director meeting up with the creator of the books they wanna adapt into a film. This can go one of two ways: A) The director listens to the author and makes sure they do everything right Or B) The director throws everything out of the window and into a flaming trashcan and just basically rewrites everything terribly and glues on the title in hopes that it'll sell good
It also annoys me about how they got Kronos's story completely wrong, not just because its in the books, but because its an actually Greek Myth that happened. It's already a Greek story that happened. It wasn't just made up by Rick, Rick got it from another true source.
Riordan in the first Percy Jackson movie : Please, can you listen to me and stop ignoring the books, please ! Riordan in the second Percy Jackson movie : What are you ?! Deaf ?!!

Feels bad for Clarisse's character in this book. As much as she is pushing herself to try to be tough and prove that she is worthy of her possition, you get the impression for the entire story that if camp were under attack she would make some effort to take on the enemy on her own regardless of how helpless the odds if it ment a single person might have time to prepare or escape. She is one of the most authentic characters in the story, she really IS about the life she portrays.

Wonderful video. I just starting to read PJ. Just one thing: Of course there's not much sense in adding Tyson getting seasick, but it's not like impossible. Thalia is afraid of heights too.
It’s not entirely the same. Being afraid of your parent’s sphere of control and having a physical reaction to movement on water are different things. Thalia’s fear of heights is more than likely due to some sort of trauma irregardless of her godly heritage. Possibly a fall, getting left somewhere up high (like getting stuck on a ferris wheel), etc. Tyson getting seasick is a bodily function, which is a huge difference from an irrational fear. Children of Poseidon don’t get seasick because the sea is their father’s domain. The water is where their strength is the greatest, and, while yes, Tyson’s on a boat and not directly in the water, he is still in Poseidon’s domain and therefore shouldn’t be having a negative reaction to his father’s sphere of influence. If, while on a boat/life-raft, Percy can know exactly where he is and how fast the boat’s going (things he’s physically able to do due to Poseidon being his dad), Tyson shouldn’t be having such a negative physical reaction while on a boat. That’s the main problem with Tyson being seasick. It’s not that he has a fear of the water, it’s that he’s having a negative physiological reaction to his father’s sphere of influence. If Movie-Tyson had an irrational fear of water due to some past trauma (maybe a sea monster attacked him when he was younger or another traumatic event), I think the fandom would be slightly more willing to overlook that specific mis-characterization because it’s shown multiple times that demigods and children of gods can have irrational fears about their parent’s domain (Thalia, and others (I don’t want to spoil anything for you)), but the general rule is that godly children will be strongest in their parent’s domain (sea, sky, underworld, in battle, etc). A child of Poseidon would not get seasick just like a child of Zeus wouldn’t get plane-sick, a child of Hades would not get sick in cemeteries or in the Underworld, or a child of Apollo would not get sick from standing in the sunlight. Sorry for the info-dump, I just wanted, as a PJO veteran, to explain a bit more about WHY Tyson getting seasick makes NO sense, even with the knowledge that godly children can be afraid of their parent’s domain. Welcome to the PJO fandom, and I hope you love the books as much as I have!! I’m happy to answer any questions you have, just let me know!! 😊😊
Oh I did an essay on how the movies sucked in 8th grade. They let us see the movie and then one month later had us write an essay on a book we were reading. Let's say I had counted everything bad they did in the Percy Jackson movies and was glad to share the knowledge.
Circe's island isn't only important for Percy's and Annabeth's development, but it also factors into stuff that happens in the Heroes of Olympus books. They literally messed up plot points spanning entirely different series
They really nerfed Tyson to oblivion didn't they. Something else, I hate how Kronos becomes this massive creature. Kronos with Luke's body seemed much more terrifying to me.
Sorry I know this comment is old, but this was my exact thoughts on this too, I was terrified of him because of his power, then to hear (I think Poseidon/Luke in the Last Olympian?) say that him regaining his true form would incinerate any mortal and be 10 times more powerful than any Olympian god was just chilling, you knew Percy was on a tight timer to stop him from getting his true form back.
I Know This Comment Is Old But I Hate How Kronos Was In Lukes Body It Made Him So Boring And Disappointing Especially With How Luke Regains Control In Every Other Scene And How Kronos Never Even Does Anything Other Than Show Up Monologue And Then Get His Ass Kicked Over And Over Again Until He Died
Promised Neverland fans and Percy Jackson fans have one thing they can share together: A terrible second season/movie that basically just spoils stuff and is basically torture in the purest form
Same, a neighbor named their kid Thalia but they pronounced it the English speaking way and that was all I had to go off of when I read it when I was younger so I didn’t know they said it wrong either
I remember I saw this movie with a friend and my cousin as a birthday present. I regretted it, and I remember me and so many other people saying in the theater... "It's supposed to be 16."
After reading the books I was literally so mad at the movies, so watching someone roast the movies for 33 minutes is probably the best part of my day. I agreed with every single point made in this video. You know, maybe Morgan should be the one writing the script...
Me after I saw Luke bring Kronos back to life with the golden fleece: so, they just want to wrap the next 3 books in the most terrible way in one movie.😑
The one thing that i'm not seeing people mention that ABSOLUTELY TICKED ME OFF in the movies was Tantalus!! He replaced Chiron in the books and he gave Percy absolute hell to deal with. I was so upset when he didn't show up in the movie
I remember watching this with a friend who didn't read the books. And he had the AUDACITY to explain some things I already know but found confusing. Because he thinks he's right and that the movie kinda makes "sense" to him..... I didn't invite him to my home anymore.
Can we also talk about Thalia still being able to fit her clothes from when she was smaller??? You mean to tell me this fully developed chick can still fit her clothes from when she was a preteen??? Hilarious 😂😂
I watched the 2 movies as a kid, and then read the first three books in my teens, and realized how good the series actually was. Maybe in the future, I will get to see Anabeths dad ride a WW II plane around the San Francisco mountain.
As a huge fan of Percy Jackson here’s what I have to say abt this. In my 5th grade class we read the first book and I was hooked. I LOVED it! Then when our class watched the movie we sat there disappointed. They left out SO many awesome scenes! Especially with Annabeth being more like Clarisee. Then I watched this and was so sad that they didnt include Percy and Annabeths relationship growth. I love how they subtlety throughout the books start to like each other. This didn’t even include them having much interaction. And I feel like no one is on my side with this but the series cast is messed up. The plot will probably be great but let’s be honest, all of the fans will have trouble picturing this cast with the characters.
Some ideas for next videos: -The life of Fang, Grookshanks, Hedwig or someone another animal character -Explain the life of Dumbledore's Army members like Hannah Abbot, Justin Finc-Fletchey, Terry Boot etc. -Explain the life of the order of the phoenix members like Sturgis Podmore, Emeline Vance etc. I know that making videos takes a lot of time and these are just ideas. I love your Harry Potter videos anyway!
Don’t know if you’re into musicals, but I highly recommend the lightning thief musical. Its really low budget, but it’s a thousand times better than the high budget movies. It even focuses more on characters than even the books
My friend introduced me to the series with watching the movies. At the time, I didn’t think the movies were half bad, and I couldn’t understand why my friend was so mad. The, I read the books. Wow. Now I understand. Great video!
The problem with some of this changes, is that they ended up contradicting greek mythology. I mean, is not like the myths are totally right in the books, but they are close enough that even if you are familiar with them you won't notice the contradictions right away. But the movies just pull up a Hercules and rewrite the mythology for its own sake.
To be fair, it [rewriting mythology] started so long ago that now I'm just doing facepalm each time and just drop watching. Like all those times when Hades was made evil bcuz he's god of underworld (and not even the death incarnated, please!) or when gods of any mythology are such caring about people in general and all so good (except of gods of underwolrd), like please... when did Zeus and Hera become total family appreciating persons with everything they both done? I kinda forgive this entire shit of plot twisting the mythology for Marvel/DC comics bcuz it can be perceived like something entirely different but not this kind of stuff
@@depressed_firefly It happens because Zeus' image is kind of close with the classic image of the Christian God (old white man with a white beard living in the skies). And people don't want to associate that image with questionable behaviour, especially in a kids movie, so Zeus is always the good guy. But I agree that its very unfortunated, because it robs theses stories of some very interesting ideas.
@@leonardocerqueiradias6168 yeah, I know but it's still bothering me, since my childhood when I started to learn mythology. How were certain goods villainized, like Hades/Pluto, Loki, Hel and bunch of other gods who didn't fit "good" imagery very much or just so happened were rulers of the death lands. Mostly it happened when Christianity became so popular that certain myths became told in another light which lead to another perception of certain gods - some became more "good", some became worse. One of the best images in TV and movies for Hades for me remains Hades from Xena. I liked this imagery of him a lot. I mean, A LOT. Pretty much how it was in mythology originally, not bad at all, just so happened to be the god of the underwolrd.

Grover was actually also meant to be on his own quest at the beginning, as at the end of The Lightning Thief he went out to look for the god Pan. This is what ticks me off about Hollywood and the movie industry. You've got a director meeting up with the creator of the books they wanna adapt into a film. This can go one of two ways:

Or
B) The director throws everything out of the window and into a flaming trashcan and just basically rewrites everything terribly and glues on the title in hopes that it'll sell good
It also annoys me about how they got Kronos's story completely wrong, not just because its in the books, but because its an actually Greek Myth that happened. It's already a Greek story that happened. It wasn't just made up by Rick, Rick got it from another true source.

Just one thing: Of course there's not much sense in adding Tyson getting seasick, but it's not like impossible.
Thalia is afraid of heights too.
Are you done?
I don't think it's quite the same tho. It's more like Thalia getting... idk air travel sick or smth...

I want the hoodie soooooo bad
I'm legit soooo jealous by the looks of that hoodie.
The hoodie??? Chefs kiss😂
😁
That intro gag was a million times better than both Peter Johnson movies combined
haha lol
Lmao nice
This comment was better than them!
I'm once again so thankful were getting a TV series with Rick being very involved in all steps of it
I remember watching this with a friend who didn't read the books. And he had the AUDACITY to explain some things I already know but found confusing. Because he thinks he's right and that the movie kinda makes "sense" to him.....
I didn't invite him to my home anymore.
Good, now go get some real friends with real taste.
go get some real friends. RIGHT. NOW.
He has low standards in quality
One thing I like about these movies, is some of the actors they chose for the Gods.
when Dionysus talked about Jesus that was one of the only funny parts of the movie
Same
Can we also talk about Thalia still being able to fit her clothes from when she was smaller??? You mean to tell me this fully developed chick can still fit her clothes from when she was a preteen??? Hilarious 😂😂
Well, she did age slower but I get your point
🤣good point
Actually, she aged pretty slowly, so i guess...
@@asterisque9252 that's what I'm saying
@@yehoem yeah, i saw ur reply after i wow mine, see? I wanted to say, i agree with u
The most accurate thing Morgan said the entire time:
“What the f**k is this?!”
A part of me died the first time I watched the movies
I watched the 2 movies as a kid, and then read the first three books in my teens, and realized how good the series actually was. Maybe in the future, I will get to see Anabeths dad ride a WW II plane around the San Francisco mountain.
Wait wasn't it a WW1 plane?
@@asherwoodrow7471 I thought in the books he called it a plane from ww2
@@ashtonhashbrown6155 which book was it? depending on the book i might be able to check
The third one. Think it was called titans curse
@@ashtonhashbrown6155 Yeah it was, I will check over the weekend.
Let’s hope the Disney+ series will watch these two vids
Rick and his wife are heavily involved, so I have high expectations
@@HelloWorld-iu7th Knowing Disney, they will muck it up somehow.
Rick Riordan after seeing 5 seconds of The Sea of Monsters 28:49

Absolutely him after reading the scripts xD
yes lol

Some ideas for next videos:
-The life of Fang, Grookshanks, Hedwig or someone another animal character
-Explain the life of Dumbledore's Army members like Hannah Abbot, Justin Finc-Fletchey, Terry Boot etc.
-Explain the life of the order of the phoenix members like Sturgis Podmore, Emeline Vance etc.
I know that making videos takes a lot of time and these are just ideas. I love your Harry Potter videos anyway!
Others are great but animals is kinda ........... ehhhhh
Great ideas
The life of crookshanks- existed as a cat for 10-20 years then died
Not gonna lie, totally see Morgan as a child of Ares.
Cause the way he ripped into this movie was so brutal and yet so amazing.
Honestly I see him more of a child of Athena
Don’t know if you’re into musicals, but I highly recommend the lightning thief musical. Its really low budget, but it’s a thousand times better than the high budget movies. It even focuses more on characters than even the books
My friend introduced me to the series with watching the movies. At the time, I didn’t think the movies were half bad, and I couldn’t understand why my friend was so mad. The, I read the books. Wow. Now I understand. Great video!
TBH in my opinion this movie makes the Cursed Child look decent
Yeah, i agree totally
And the cursed child makes the Sequels seem good. Which is an usually impossible feat.
@@glacierlegion9439 star war sequels right? If it is they're still both not canon
That is a FEAT
the Fantastic Beasts movies make the Cursed Child look decent.
‘Don’t walk on my roof’ was my favorite part of the film 🤣🤣
@@depressed_firefly I get it. It bothers me a lot too.
@@depressed_firefly loki is the trickster god and he tricked another god to kill his brother with a dart made out of mistletoe
I was watching this video, and I got an ad, and IT WAS THE DAM TRAILER FOR THE NEW SERIES. This is a sign from the gods that this series is going to be absolutely epic.
