1:09 not impossible to spot at all. Definitely not "indistinguishable". You just have to really know your stuff. I can spot any super clone upon visual inspection and handling without ever having to even open the caseback (including VSF, Clean, NOOB, AR, VR, etc). There are obvious tell tale signs. Here's a few for you guys:
-Look at the height of the crystal. Super clones will have a higher crystal height. Gen has a practically flush crystal against the bezel whereas clone will have one that protrudes quite a bit more.
-Rolex clasp engraving. Run your finger against it. It's nowhere near the quality of a real one. It will feel rougher and not as refined.
-Wind the crown. There is a MASSIVE difference in the wind quality. Superclones feel like winding sand paper while gens are smooth as butter.
-Turn the unidirectional bezel. The bezel on a superclone will usually have a bit of backplay. But the biggest tell tale sign is the sound it makes. Gens make a significantly higher frequency pitch sound. Superclones have a lower pitch sound that just doesn't sound right.
-Look at the coin edge bezel. Gen has beautifully polished coin edges that feel very sharp. Superclones coin edges are pretty dull and not sharp at all. It's an instant tell as soon as you go to grab it.
    - Look at how the lugs sit against the SELs and observe their recession. No super clone can get even close to how perfect gens recession are. Gens will have perfect lug recession against the SELs on all four lugs with the exact amount of recession. Super clones will have slightly different recession height from lug to lug and sometimes even small gaps between the SELs. This is a very quick way to tell. No superclone can achieve this level of perfect recession on all the lugs.
    - Look at the engraving on the rehaut with a loupe. The laser etching on super clones are nowhere as refined as the etching on gens.
-Look at the rehaut alignment with each letter and how it aligns with each minute indices. If the letters don't perfectly line up in the middle, that's a tell tale sign.
-The glide lock clasp. The glide lock clasp action is nowhere near as smooth on a superclone as it is on a gen.
-If it has a date complication, know your Rolex date wheel fonts. Look at the date fonts under a loupe. Very different date fonts from gen. Particularly look at 3s, 6s, 9s, ...superclones can never achieve that perfect front.
I also just reported a superclone GMT 126710BLNR Batman on ebay that's going for auction and is sadly at $11,575 with 2 days left. It's an an obvious fake and not even a good one at that. Still has the Chinese factory 904L red stickers on it 😂. This proves that a lot of Rolex customers are not even real watch enthusiasts. Just buying for the name/flex without knowing a damn thing about what they're buying. Anyway I've reported a ton of fakes on ebay (not just Rolex either ..a lot of Omegas, Breitling, etc) and I have gotten them taken down (I always check back to see if ebay takes down the listing). I feel ebay should start paying me for my services! Lol. Moral of the story is, if buying grey, ONLY buy from trusted reputable gray sellers/dealers that have been selling for years and have perfect reviews and ratings. You're going to pay a higher premium but that's what you're paying for; their years of honest transactions and their years of experience with Rolex watches and going through a rigorous authentication process to ensure they're only selling you a gen. BUY THE SELLER, NOT THE WATCH.

Oh ffs. He gave a 2-3 year reality check. If you have to wait 2 years with a 6% yearly increase which Rolex has done for the past two years, means you’ll be better off paying the price today on an OP.
Also because they’re most likely going into precious metals.
Ears and listening isn’t common these days.
Now he is also giving his opinion about grey dealers and being aware of this.

Grey market is reputable watch stores that are selling watches that were offloaded to them directly by ADs.
    Peer-to-peer is not grey market.

You don’t have to buy one in a parking lot, you can get a Fugazi from a slick grey dealer. Those pop up during pricing bubbles (like we just experienced) and disappear. Tracking the flash in a pan dealer down once you realize you were swindled can be hard.

Those GMTs at the start of your video with the 'Clean' sticker ARE the super clones. 'Clean factory (CF)' is considered the best factory for GMTs atm. They literally are 1:1s that have a Chinese 3285 movement that is interchangeable with Gen Rolex parts. Can normally grab 1 for around £450. Unless you open the back and inspect the balance bridge and spring you won't be able to tell the difference. But like i said, you can install a gen balance bridge and spring and create something really scary

True! But remember, if that $700.00 clone needs servicing, expect to pay as much as if the piece is genuine, or more than the cost of the watch, but that is the case with any < $500.00 mechanical watch.

    • @rah5500
      @rah5500 4 месяца назад

@thomasstratford6227 In that case, just purchase a new Rep for $500. And by that time, I don't think you will be able to distinguish a genuine Rolex from a replica. Plus, you're still saving on a good $15000-$20000 if you're buying a Pepsi or Batman

@@thomasstratford6227so, you are suggesting spending £10k+ to avoid a potential £700 service bill on a watch that cost ~ £400?
Discounting the fact there are replica watch specialists who will service it for £150 surely you'd just replace the watch?
Trust me, even a totally dead rep is worth something to someone.
I sold a dead Submariner rep, no extra links, cracked bezel, missing bezel springs, in pieces. £120.

Of course you are correct. I just watched a watchmaker point out how some clones wont last, which is nonsense. I own Seiko’s that are 25 years old, and have never been serviced. Clones are certainly as well built as these $40.00 Seikos!

And I have a fake Daytona on right now that was manufactured in 2018.
I bought a fake Submariner in Bangkok in 2008, still running fine.
My bosses watch cost more to service last time than I've spent (in fakes obv) on six Submariners (16610lv, 114060, 126613lb, 126610lb, 126610lv, 116613ln), two Daytona's (steel bezel, black and white dials), a pepsi GMT, two 5711's (a steel and a rose gold), a Panerai Submersible, a Seamaster 300, a Datejust, a Tudor Black Bay Heritage and a Blancpain x Swatch.

  • @thomasstratford6227

Reverse engineering, and clones! Why? Maybe because some watch manufacturers that build watches for $500.00, and sell them for 20 times such, should rethink their price points. Seeking out a clone that is 95% identical to the original, that most cannot tell is a clone, can be simply value for money.
