    Great instruction. There is also a good argument to spray in some Electrical Contact Cleaner on the contacts before fitting the new sensor.

    My 2000 5.9 magnum ram has an erratic idle, and intermittent whistling and sucking sound along with power loss. It normally runs normal after reaching operating temperature. I recently acquired the truck as a project for my son, so no history. Thanks my man, love your channel.

    That’s how a help video should be made. Simple to the point and professional. Great job. I have a 96 5.2 Limited. Was looking for info on cleaning air flow sensor and this popped up. But your explanation could explain a common issue in these such as won’t go into reverse unless in sits in R for a few mins and won’t shift from 2nd to 3rd until driven for a distance then letting off of the throttle quick. How do you troubleshoot the throttle position sensor? How do you meter it to check it? Would like to see you clean air flow sensor on same Jeep (96 preferably)

    Hey Barricade, I need a hint. I started having problems with shifting gears and engine stall/ cut off randomly. I decided it had everything to do with the TPS and replaced it but the engine stalled again. Then changed the IAC motor and the stall and cut off dissappeared. The next morning when I started the engine, the rpms went to 1.5k and the check engine throw code 23 (TPS voltage...) and the gear shift was not happening properly. When the engine reached work temperature, everything got ok. Now I wonder whether to blame the new TPS or to change the intake air sensor. Both coolant sensors on the block have been changed. Not sure what except the TPS governs the gear shift and idle and where the temperature reading comes from. Or should I calibrate something TPS/ IAC? When engine gets to work temp, all is ok.

    • @barricadegarage5361
      @barricadegarage5361  5 лет назад

      Try pulling the throttle body and cleaning it with TB cleaner and a
      q-tip. The area where the IAC valve is housed may have alot of build up. Also check the condition of the wiring. Its also a good idea to make sure your battery terminals are clean and making good contact and if possible do a voltage drop test because a bad alternator can give you those symptoms before completely going out on you as well.

    • @barricadegarage5361
      @barricadegarage5361  5 лет назад +1

      Its also possible you installed a defect sensor

    • @bahataa1
      @bahataa1 5 лет назад

      @@barricadegarage5361 I know for sure my alternator is going bad, because now & then the check engine light comes on and the charge gauge is sitting to 12V. I rev it up to the limiter in order to fix it and start to charge again and it's ok for the next couple of weeks. Battery terminals are old and need to change it. What's most curious is why it's running bad till it reaches proper temperature. Do we have the battery temp sensor or any other temp sensor that might read bad?

    • @barricadegarage5361
      @barricadegarage5361  5 лет назад

    Hey got a 5.2 and it was running like a beast for the year I’ve had it rebuilt tranny 30,000 miles again and engine rebuilt 100000 miles ago and it still runs great but now when the engine warms up and I slam on the gas to test if it revs correctly if I do it to quickly the engine will like choke and sputter sometimes it’ll save it self from Turning off but most of the time it stalls out I’ve changed the cables ,distributor, plugs alternator tps iac I don’t think it’s the map sensor but I guess that’s my next step any ideas???

    • @garionporter5961
      @garionporter5961 Год назад

      maybe the MAP - did you change that? any luck? also I hear the intake temp sensor (located usually in the kegger) can be problematic during high heat/engine...also look up blown plenum gasket - common problem for these 5.2/5.9

    • @barricadegarage5361
