This is the Aussie Vocal Coach Mezzo Soprano Vocal Warm Up. The mezzo voice, also known as vocal fach, is the female voice type between Soprano and Contralto, or low alto. The mezzo vocal range is usually between F3 and G5 however some singers may be able to sing slightly lower or higher than this vocal range and sustain a higher or lower tessitura.
The 8 vocal warm up exercises in this routine will activate your diaphragm, connect your cords, warm up your singing resonance, chest voice, mixed voice and head voice range so that you can sing with confidence, tone quality and power through your mezzo soprano range.
Remember vocal warm ups are designed to stretch your voice so sing each vocal exercise gently and avoid pushing or straining your voice. if an exercise ever feels too high or low stop and move on.

I'm naturally an alto but I'm trying to improve my range so I tried this( I usually do the alto warm up) and I I feel like my higher notes are much stronger and less strained...thank you so much for this
I was doing this in my kitchen pure serious I'm a singer so I thought I'd try all this. Didn't know my son was standing at the back of me and he says " mum why are you acting crazy? " lol 😳😳
omggg that’s so funny 🤣🤣
When I do this exercise in the afternoon it is a bit easier. So I do Alto in the morning and mezzo in the afternoon. Thank you. These have really helped me.
I just found this whole Mezzo thing today. Seriously. I'm committing to this. Weeeeeeeeeee! Thank you!
love this warm up so much! My voice flows so easily after it
Thank you for this warm up ... Now I can practice my vocal range...
This is one of the best warm up exercises out there! Ian thank you so much for sharing!
Very helpful! I have an audition for the Addams Family coming up and I'm hoping to get Wednesday. This was a very helpful warm up and I enjoyed it!
wow! i know its been ages since you posted this but thats such a good show! i hope you got the part and i wish you luck in all future auditions!
hi! Did u passed the auditions?
I love this , it is fun to sing along with the singer.
Lili Gibson hehe that's my wife 😀
@@aussievocalcoach Is she a singer too? Her voice is so sweet
These have been absolutely invaluable over the past 6 months...so grateful for Aussie Vocal Coach!! I jumped back into community theater doing 42nd Street after a 12 year break and these videos got my voice into great shape for auditions and the show. I'm an alto/mezzo range and started with the alto ones, but found the mezzo ones prepared my voice more for the higher songs. Over time my voice and range definitely got stronger...definitely appreciate warming up so many different areas of the voice. I'm so glad I had a bit of a drive to rehearsals so this could be part of my daily routine in the car. God bless you Ian thank you for your work!
This is excellent! Thanks! Can you add more exercises for the mezzo range?
Thank you so much! I write my own songs, so I can write in a lower range but this definitely helps me move up a little higher gracefully.❤️
I always warm up with mezzo and then go to soprano. It works.
So do I 😂😂
@@avizallama5753 lol it really stretches the head voice to its full potential.
Oh yay! I'm a contralto, but I could still hit the higher notes here. Maybe I'll use both warmups (alto and mezzo). No matter how hard I try, I CANNOT go above A5. But I am also a beginner singer so hopefully my range improves with practice
Just try to stretch it a little bit every other day it will happen. Just not too much and it doesnt feel go back down and come up to reset
This is great. Perfectly for my range. No nonsense talking
Straight to the point
I do wish however that the instructor would continue to sing along. It really bothers me when they don't. I know there's reason for it but it really helps me
I have an audition today and this is my go to
Kara Bernard Best of luck 🤞
Oh, I loved it, so refreshing when the vocalization has creative ways, I really enjoyed it, I will practice this every day with my other vocalization practices. Thank You, it was very fun to do it and a bit challenging to adapt to the new combination of sounds which makes a new step forward, and I know I need to practice more the ear to new combinations and finding my voice with them. So useful. EK
Great set of exercises.....nice beat too to keep it fun and upbeat! :) Can a contralto do it - my comfortable singing range is D3-D5 but my voice can reach higher/lower if needed. Thanks!!
There's a video for contralto warm-ups, too. It goes a bit lower than this one. I use both.

I'm new to sining I have to do it for the PA course I'm doing but my confidence to sing is little to none, so this is gonna help if I do it daily
Thank you so much, very handy to practice. I will follow it with my other vocal warm-up practices.
Glad you like it 😊

I love to too
Hi Ian i wanted to know how do you tackle from mucus in the throat bcoz im suffering from it alot.....and as they say you dont wanna clear your throat everytime..so what should be done??? and i specifically wanted to know that what do you do on a regular basis to avoid this???
And I wanted to thank you for all these videos they are very helpful and your channel is a hidden gem.
You have to do enough exercise to have your fluids under control and with daily vocalization, tea and water it will be solved, we all gather mucus in our systems when we sleep, so when you work out and practice enough your voice and breathing the mucus clears out.
A a vocal told me you can run through your teeth with tounge and swallow the fluids instead, trued that and it works
try to resist the urge to clear it
I could do the alto warm up effortlessly so I wanted to try the warm up for mezzo soprano (high alto) as well but was straining my vocal cords. Will it get easier the more I do it, or does it mean I am solely an alto voice?
I have difficulty with the #8 pharyngeal exercise. I think this is a weak area of mine. My middle voice is hard for me to use. I am often in my chest but can easily flip into head but have a hard time blending these two. It has been the bane of my existence! It is often limiting in the choice of my music. I work on this a lot by choosing songs that take me to the trouble spot but I never seem to get much better. Is there possibly a physiological reason this is difficult for me or do I just need to do some very specific work for this?
I am the same
@@vixinoz Yeah. I wish I could find a solution. I don't sing for a living but sing with musician friends as much as I can & am always looking for ways improve.
Nice exercises

I love this.
I should practice daily.. First time almost die 😫

If I cannot reach some high notes in this exercise, does that mean I'm not a mezzo?
Probably not, with practice you will improve!

Thank you! Is there a version of this for altos?
Yes

I’m a man 😂 I can’t go that low in chest voice
I personally do not like lip thrills
Its hard to sustain them. I also struggle with lip bubbles
Why don't you gather your lips with two fingers and do it.
I’m gay
This was boring for me I’m sorry
