Greg, you are a treasure. I haven’t seen this movie in years and seeing how much you enjoyed it made me love it all over again. Zac Efron is incredible and really should be in more films…a real talent. And Leslie Mann remains a favorite comedic actress of mine. She complements every actor she plays with.

I am delightfully surprised by this reaction. I have honestly never seen anyone react to this film and really appreciate it the way you did. People watch this and see the tropes and Zac Efron rehashing his "cool basketball high schooler" character from High School Musical and that's it, but I've always really enjoyed the story the way you did. The scene where "Marc" is talking to his daughter after she's dumped, I genuinely felt like I was watching a dad talk to his daughter after her heart was broken. And to his credit, Zac Efron put A LOT of work into this role, practicing Matthew Perry's mannerisms and speech patterns to get it right. I agree that a lot of HSM hate came for this movie which is a shame. So glad to see you enjoyed it!

i really wasn't a zac efron fan. but when i watched this movie, he impressed me. he was so natural in his acting & this movie was fun. i especially loved how zac displayed matthew perry's mannerism but in such a subtle way. and leslie mann being the wife/mom was perfect. i love her. and recognizing mike right away (while drunk) was a nice touch in making her finally realizing it's her husband at the end more believable. i think it was really well written & the cast did a great job in fleshing out characters that could've felt too caricatured.

I remember seeing this when it came out but I was only a child and was only watching it for zac efron if I’m being honest so I didn’t fully grasp the idea of the film but looking back damn you are right it’s such a sweet heartwarming film nearly brought me to tears. now that I understand the meaning of this film. Also zac is an incredible actor and it sucks that he gets the “heartthrob” treatment where one series of films he did as a teen have not only defined his career but has at times made people turn away from him.We need to get out of that mindset because I mean look a pattinson he also had people downplaying his abilities because of twilight and now we see how great of an actor he is. Another zac efron movie id say that’s also very touching is Charlie St. Cloud you should check it out if you liked this one!

A week or two ago, I rewatched Charlie St. Cloud for the first time in years, and even though I knew exactly what would happen in the end, I still had tears in my eyes just from Zack's performance and the heartbreak at the decisions he had to make (as an older sister myself). I was maybe in middle school the first time I watched it and I am finishing college now, and it just felt so different watching it and just waiting for everything to come together at the end.

I had been dismissive of Zac Efron too, but he's a really good actor. Charlie St. Cloud, The Greatest Showman, The Lucky One, etc. He's got a lot of range from comedy to drama. That's why, even though, saying it out loud, it just doesn't make sense. But on paper it does ... I think he'd be a really cool Wolverine. He's got the stature, he's shown he can do the bulk, and it would fun to get to see him really go for it in berserker rages. He would be a more visually accurate representation of Wolverine.

This is one of my favorite movies, actually. I loved it for all the same reasons, and I was really surprised when “18 Again” came out, which is the South Korean remake as a one-season show adaptation of the same exact story…and it was SUPER GOOD. 😮

My buddy in highschool liked this girl. He was shy. So we all planned to go to the movies and I would wingman for my buddy. He asked her what movie she wanted to see and she picked this. Me and my buddy meet at the theatre and she doesn't show up. We are already in the theatre. Once we realized she wasn't coming we would've left the theatre, but we had already started liking the movie and stayed. We had ourselves an amazing bro date. Laughed the whole time. By the end of the movie we had both agreed that we were glad that that chick hadn't showed up. I fucking love this movie. And I got to see it in theatres under very "highschool" circumstances.

This is one of the most underrated feel good movies and Zac’s comedic performance here is spot on

This is the movie that opened my eyes to Efron's acting range when it came out. I was a bit sad that the movie was mostly a sleeper.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this as much as I did the first time I saw it. And about a dozen times following. It made me so sad when Dylan Is In Trouble watched this and talked about how bad it was the whole time lol

Doesn’t he shit on everything though? Every time I come across a video, the title sounds whiny/negative.

Dylan is in Trouble never said it was bad he said it was a mix bad. He was talking about the screenplay the script he read for the movie.
