Awesome job, you gave so much needed info that other RUclipsrs don't come close to and did it concisely & didn't repeat stuff, keeping it short & sweet. Thank You!!!
Great job and thanks for posting the vid! I just got a 2015 Ram Outdoorsman that is white with some black. I’m working on blacking it out and this will help since my bumpers a chrome. Thanks!
I have an electric spray gun and am debating on buying the single stage just for ease in the process because of my work schedule. Very informative video
Im about to do this too but im gonna use adhesion promoter after scuffing. Especially on the plastic grill. Like you said everyone does things a little different. That was recommended to me but Im spraying raptor liner bed liner.
I’ve been considering wrapping mine due to chipping. I’ve only painted chrome once. I just don’t see it lasting long however I did not use an epoxy primer. There’s also a product called flex that you can add in making your paint less brittle. Have you gotten any chips yet? Prep as far away from your paint area as possible. Blow your clothes off. All together great job.
kris scarborough paint is holding up great! I have one little spot coming off on the rear bumper but it’s hard to say if that was a rock or just missed prep on my part corners and edges are always tough. I’ll be blending the bumper and fixing that spot and when I do I’m just going to xpel film the corners to be safe. Other than that everywhere else is perfect and the front doesn’t have a single imperfection! Thank you!
kris, except for chipping, epoxy is a must-do primer over (properly prepared) chrome to ensure adhesion (peeling). Chipping can be minimize, as you mentioned, with some flex agent.
Awesome job!! Looks great. I would have went the Plastidip Method myself. I just think it would have been easier on you and you can remove it for resale.
Kenneth Terry I thought about it but the color difference is significantly off and you’ll never get the gloss finish to match factory with plastidip. The plan is to keep this girl for a long time so it probably won’t be worth crap when the time comes anyways haha thanks for checking out the vid!
Nice job! Keep up the good work. In between coats, what did you do with the paint inside the gun? Did you just leave it in there and come back to spraying? You said to wait about 10-15 min. Thanks.
Thanks! it's definitely in the considerations. I'm shooting for wheels and tires in the spring and once i have those I'll make more changes to the truck to flow with the wheels!
I know this is kind of old but would you be able to tell me all the cans of paint prep/paint you got and in what order they’re used? Because I’m looking for all these codes on Oreillys and cannot find any of them
Is the grille plastic, and if not would you use the same process to paint it? Just seems like 80 grit would eat through plastic, thanks man great video!!
ellis629090 it is plastic but it’s still coated in the same chrome material. It’ll sand slightly easier than the bumpers will but 80grit still works great for roughing up the surface
fantastic. everything is still perfect minus the edge of the bumper from rock chips but that is my own fault for not installing flaps or getting it clear wrapped. I'll be redoing the edges and clear wrapping the corners
Hey guys! I need some help! I have a 2012 ram 1500 5.7 hemi lonestar crew cab with two pieces steel and plastic front bumper. I want to make some upgrade! Can I fit this newer, or facelifted two pieces front bumper on my truck? Thank you!
Great video you got me thinking...if you don't mind me asking. Where did you get all the nason products and how much was the cost for all the nason products?
delapopo1 thank you!! everywhere is spotless minus the edge of the rear bumper from my tires throwing rocks. That’s inevitable unless you have mudflaps or have it clear wrapped unfortunately. Other than that everything is holding up fantastic.
I only put one light coat and then one heavy coat just enough to get full coverage. If the paint isn’t too thick it won’t mess with the sensors. Mine are still good they work properly.
I appreciate it man! I just started this because I know anytime I have questions I youtube it so I wanted to help anyone out who had the same questions I once had!
Brandon Clark I have a RUclips addiction lol I owed the same dodge but got rid of it when I took over my dads old ford and putting all my time and money in it
Yessir. I had videos to put up on product reviews, but I never let my truck get that dirty in the first place so I didn't feel it was truly a good demonstration of the product. Then I was supposed to get a 2019 ram to review and that fell through. I'm trying to get some content, but if I don't think it's good enough I won't put it up. I'm trying! lol
Hey dude, I have a 2016 Ram too. I have a standard 6 gallon Porter Cable compressor that I use with my nail gun, Is that BIG enough to paint my bumpers? Or should I use spray cans like you did on your mirrors?
It has to meet the CFM regardless of compressor size so i would look up the CFM of the gun and the compressor. Only thing a bigger tank does is allows you to spray longer without tank kicking on
I'm a big fan of the fuel sledge and the hostile fury, but they're also very popular and I don't want to have the same as everyone else at the same time so I'm not 100% sure yet lol
It was 26 gallon honestly can't even remember the CFM. I know it was high enough to run the spray gun. It was a friends I borrowed I don't have it anymore lol
I’m here lol kinda ran out of how tos and installs on my truck. Hit a wall on ideas for videos didn’t want to do some click bait trash and my life isn’t exciting enough to vlog haha
haha sorry buddy I've been saving money for my wheels and tires haven't had too many little things to do right now and noone wants to see me just vlog my life haha
Awesome job, you gave so much needed info that other RUclipsrs don't come close to and did it concisely & didn't repeat stuff, keeping it short & sweet. Thank You!!!
Good job!!! Looks great for a home paint job. Loving the paint booth :)
giovanni tomassi thank you! And I appreciate that haha worked pretty good!
first time watching your channel, great video on explaining the process !@ specially how the hvlp gun works, great job !!
Best diy ive seen on this . Normally i have a question or two about something, but you covered it all good stuff
Thank you so much
Super well explained and very detailed,
Hell yea man. Doin this to my ram, ill have to send in some pics

Awesome Video! Great work man, I am about to do this to my truck and was hoping to find a good video.

very good job bud , you should b proud of yourself - however im not a dodge guy lol . but the time n work you put in it was awsome
This looks amazing! If you had some dings in the chrome that needed to be repaired, would you be able to use bondo?
I would say probably; if your sanding anyway
Awesome video, I like your style very organized !!!!
jj cuvs thank you I appreciate it!

You did an awesome job!!
Thank you!! I really appreciate it!
Stunning. I love it!
That looks fantastic!
Fantastic work! How has it held up over the last 5 years?
Good job bro looks bad ass.. i like your paint booth kinda looks like mine 😂
hahaha thank you! gotta work with what ya got!
Amazing video! I want to do granite crystal metallic, but raptor liner.
Awesome job!! Looks great. I would have went the Plastidip Method myself. I just think it would have been easier on you and you can remove it for resale.

Love the look. How did you paint the emblems. I want to do mine. In red
Nice! Looks great!
awesome details....thanks great job....
June Bug thank you!
Great job! How did the front bumper and grille hold up to rock chips on the highways at this point?
It will hold up if you apply 2-3 coats of clear. The more clear, the more protection from wear, tear and corrosion.
Nice job! Keep up the good work. In between coats, what did you do with the paint inside the gun? Did you just leave it in there and come back to spraying? You said to wait about 10-15 min. Thanks.
Thanks! Yes whatever paint was still in there I left until I mixed more or sprayed the next coat. itll be fine in that small length of time
The pot life per the Nason TDS is 4hrs @ 70F.
Should go back to this
Looks awesome. I have a 2016 ram 1500 sport 5.7
excellent video!
pmoore4321 thank you!
Nice video! I learned a lot and also that I’m not a fan of paintwork haha
Who mixed the paint for you? Looks good 👍🏽
How has it held up against rock chips ??
You should do the grill insert black.... Nice job
Thanks! it's definitely in the considerations. I'm shooting for wheels and tires in the spring and once i have those I'll make more changes to the truck to flow with the wheels!

Thank you for your video. I'm gonna do the same thing on my f150. Is the paint still there ok?
marlon rosa yes paint is holding up great. A few rock chips but I daily highway drive so that’s to be expected
How is it holding up? I have a 16 cummins I'm thinking about color matching the grill and bumpers.
fantastic. everything is still perfect minus the edge of the bumper from rock chips but that is my own fault for not installing flaps or getting it clear wrapped. I'll be redoing the edges and clear wrapping the corners
Where did you get your paint ??
Could you list all paint, gun, and sanding supplies
Im finding it literally impossible to put my front bumper back on
Hey guys!
I need some help!
I have a 2012 ram 1500 5.7 hemi lonestar crew cab with two pieces steel and plastic front bumper. I want to make some upgrade! Can I fit this newer, or facelifted two pieces front bumper on my truck?
Thank you!
Paint still holding up looking to do this to my 2008 ram
How’d you get the badge so perfect ...
A LOT of taping, retaping, cutting, and patience lol
nice job man you save money.
Salud!!!! Bless you!!!!!
How long did it take you to complete the entire process?
Would be nice with blacked out tail pipes and door handles💪🏻
Shawn B. The pipes are actually black
Now haha but door handles will be color matched soon!
Does oreilly’s mix paint? Or how did you get the paint match paint?
yes oreilly and carquest both mix paint im not sure of others
Great video you got me thinking...if you don't mind me asking. Where did you get all the nason products and how much was the cost for all the nason products?
Jared Mitchell I got it all from oreilly and it was around $250-300 I believe
@@BrandonClark563 Thanks brother! greatly appreciate that! great work by the way
Jared Mitchell no problem and thank you! I appreciate it
What if the crome is on plastic surface?
Like my 01 yukon?
How did it hold up? Any chipping or bubbling?
Hey man awesome tutorial!!! Just curious as to how well it has held up with weather, rock chips, etc.
delapopo1 thank you!! everywhere is spotless minus the edge of the rear bumper from my tires throwing rocks. That’s inevitable unless you have mudflaps or have it clear wrapped unfortunately. Other than that everything is holding up fantastic.
Where did you get the paint and everything from I have a bright white ram also and want to do the same to my grille
Oreilly or any body shop can mix you paint up just need your vin.
Might be a dumb question but how did you color match the parking sensors without having them think there's something there 24/7?
I only put one light coat and then one heavy coat just enough to get full coverage. If the paint isn’t too thick it won’t mess with the sensors. Mine are still good they work properly.
Nice
How's it holding up now?
Wet sand and polish bro removed the blemishes
Did you get all your primers, bases and clears from O’reilly auto parts?
Travis Blair yes it’s nason from oreilly
I did not see you use the basecoat activator. Is it necessary in this process?
yes. it needs to be used. I used it lol sorry if it wasn't in there
Is it still holding ??
How is it holding up?
Your growing quick!
Andy m trying my best brother! Thank you!
Brandon Clark been watching them all brother I do RUclips for my cats I need to do for my truck iv done so much with it and a lot of this kinda stuff
I appreciate it man! I just started this because I know anytime I have questions I youtube it so I wanted to help anyone out who had the same questions I once had!
Brandon Clark I have a RUclips addiction lol I owed the same dodge but got rid of it when I took over my dads old ford and putting all my time and money in it
Andy m hell cant beat that though. Being a dads I’m sure it has sentimental value!
You coming back?
I'm trying! lol

@@BrandonClark563 so maybe spray cans?
Chris Mah or see if somewhere rents or someone you know can lend a compressor. Rattle cans would be much more tedious but you can try it!
How long did you let them dry before you start handling them?
24 hours
Did u sand the base coat before applying clear?
Ruben Ortega nope
I’m in Davenport what’s up??
Did you paint over the sensors ?
yes. one full coverage coat of paint and one coat of clear and it wont effect the sensors mine are still working fine
How much money did you spend on the paint ?
All supplies was around $300
Looking good now you need to get some new rims
Hell yeah brother! It's a top priority on my mod list!
What kind you looking at
I'm a big fan of the fuel sledge and the hostile fury, but they're also very popular and I don't want to have the same as everyone else at the same time so I'm not 100% sure yet lol
Heck yeah going to look good
Thanks man!
Can I pay you to do this to my ram? Plsssssss
What's your compressor set up?
It was 26 gallon honestly can't even remember the CFM. I know it was high enough to run the spray gun. It was a friends I borrowed I don't have it anymore lol
If i wanted to pay someone to do this on my truck, how much would be a fair price?
my body shopped quoted me $250 each part so it was $750 before tax and everything
@@BrandonClark563 thanks i did an online quote just for the bumpers and i got $550, so around the same thing. do you think its worth that?
and how long did this paint last ?
still holding up great. Some rock chips which is to be expected daily high way driving, but no flaking or adhesion issues
Where the mirrors textured?
yes
How has it held up?
Christopher Nuttall great! A few rock chips to be expected from any painted front end but nothing bad at all
Dude where have you been?
I’m here lol kinda ran out of how tos and installs on my truck. Hit a wall on ideas for videos didn’t want to do some click bait trash and my life isn’t exciting enough to vlog haha
@@BrandonClark563 still have the ram?
@@johnsn10 yessir
Why would you even do that?
Just buy the BLACK plastic grille. Do y'all hang chandeliers in haunted houses by any chance?
Same concept.
What was the total spent on project? Plastic, gun, paint, gloves...etc debating if I should just take my bumpers to a body shop.
$3-350. Idk about your area but it was $800 for the body shop here to do it. Wasnt even a question for me haha good luck with it!!
Brandon Clark cool thanks brother. Great job on the bumpers by the way.
Anytime! Thank you as well!
How did you color match the mirrors? They have a texturized surface so did you have to send it smooth? Thanks
I did the mirrors in a previous video. check the channel youll see a video on painting textured plastic
Ok thanks!
Brandon Clark aye man one more question. How much primer, base, and clear did you need for the bumpers and grill? I’m thinking of doing mine as well
When you coming back!?!?!?
@andy m I'm getting wheels and tires friday and I'll be recording that so real soon!
Ya man one thing at a time keep them coming if you don’t hurry up
I’m
Going to have to make my own lol
haha sorry buddy I've been saving money for my wheels and tires haven't had too many little things to do right now and noone wants to see me just vlog my life haha
Brandon Clark never know
Man that’s how some
Of the big ones do it just vlog
Andy m for sure! Maybe when I have a bigger following. Right now gotta stick to installs and video specific stuff
Or get a sport
I like the steel bumper more than cheap plastic
