  • In the city of Ercolano, Italy lies the remains of the one-time Roman seaside resort of Herculaneum. The city was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD,
In the 21st episode, our exploration of Italy once again takes us past Naples. We return to the mainland aboard the ferry and begin our drive down to the Amalfi Coast. We make a brief stop to explore the ruins of Herculaneum, which are a smaller, better preserved version of the ruins of Pompeii. We experience wonderful architecture, and amazing frescoes and mosaics created thousands of years ago. Then we travel through amazing seaside towns on our way to Sorrento.
We check in to an amazing hotel, The Palazza Marziale, a former palace built in 1492. Then we enjoy the festivities at Sorrento's annual Christmas Tree & Holiday Lighting ceremony. We also walk the city and enjoy some amazing meals at the city's excellent restaurants.
