@@nagihangot6133 "voodoo" (Vodou) is actually African in origin, being brought over from West Africa by the slaves of the Dahomey Kingdom, who practiced the religion of Vodoun, vodou's predecessor. The "voodoo" religions of South America and the Caribbean, such as Palo Mayombe, Candomblé, and santeria are also from Africa, as they were introduced by the Yoruba slaves who practiced Ifa, the predecessor to these religious systems.
@Marcelo Brozovic there are damaging implications (especially in the case if African and african-derived religions) when a religion is mislabeled and disassociated from it's cultural setting and definitions. Voodoo is practiced by initiation only. One cannot "do voodoo" without initiation. The result is people mistakenly identifying witchcraft as voodoo and vice versa when the two are not synonymous. Then you have adherents to voodoo being demonized as "witches" when they are not. Voodoo is a defined religious system with a complex culture and history behind it, and should not be mistaken for general witchcraft. Labeling general witchcraft as voodoo is like going to a pagan temple and calling it church.

I'm upset at one of the opening comments. Vodoun is not witchcraft nor is it black magic. It's a legitimate Haitian religion with influences from West and Central African traditions and born in the era of African enslavement. Equating Voodoo with black magic or evil is essentially racist, anti-black, and anti-Haitian. It's reminiscent of the fears French, British, and Spanish soldiers had when they lost a colony to an army of Black men and women, demonizing their campaign and undermining their capacity to forge a state of their own. I would ask that Vice be a little more careful about how it informs its audience. I also ask that this be renamed.
Just by using voodoo to ruin someone's life and force him/her into depression or even to commit a suicide tells you that it's the work of the devil. And voodoo is used mostly for exactly that

I loved this story here and I liked the way it was delivered and the messy, documentary style. Some people said the host was rude, but, whereas if this was US this would be rude, it sounded natural in the context. Like in Peru it is much more formal, at least in the highlands with Andean old people, and so it is easy to be accidentally rude. If Serbia is anything like Ukraine, the opposite is true.

Voodoo is more Caribbean and South American. Africa does Juju.
Now let's dance, boyo.
Everything that has even remote relations to black people is african culture. But anything related to whites is not european culture.
@@nagihangot6133 voodoo is an African word and culture. If you don't know the culture stfu😣

Voodoo is satanism, get real.
how? Satan doesnt exist in Voodoo Traditian.
Just by using voodoo to ruin someone's life and force him/her into depression or even to commit a suicide tells you that it's the work of the devil. And voodoo is used mostly for exactly that
