What a beautiful site. Nothing smells better than diesel smoke and fresh turned ground. I loved that smell.
My dad started his farm in 1955 and he started out with an H with a two bottom plow. Then he acquired a narrow front Super M with a power pack on it and he went up to a 3 bottom plow. Then we bought a 560 International and pulled a three point 4 bottom plow. And then in 1974 we bought a 1066 and pulled a five bottom automatic reset plow.
At times, we had the three tractors out in the same field plowing, we thought we were in the big time then! 🚜😊😎
I'll never stop loving red power
👍👍
I can almost smell that freshly turned dirt. Nothing like it!!! Very cool Jason 👍🏻.
Great to see those old Internationals in the same field together. My dad has had six of these beauties over the years… 806, 966, 1466, 686, 1086 and 5088. We still have the 686 and 5088.
Excellent video! That 1566 was cool. I've always loved the look of tractors from that era from IH.
Did lots of molboard plowing 40 years ago in east central SD.
We used a international 720 high clearance 7x18” auto reset plow on a 1566, a IH 700 7x18” AR plow hooked to a 1586, & a IH 10x18” AR 800 international hooked to our 4386, all plows were equipped with on land hitches. Ended up selling the 700 7x18” & 1566, & going with another 800 10x18” & 4386. Didn’t take to much time to get 160 acres done with 27 bottoms going all day!
We still have the same plows. Just don't use em anymore. They sit down along the woods
When my parents were first married my dad plowed with a case 730 diesel an a 4 bottom plow. Mom rode along cuz she didn’t want be at the house alone. Open station tractor all bundled up.
Back in the late 70s and the early '80s, I plowed with a 4430 and 5/16. Then my Uncle bought an 8440 and 7/20 on land plow. That was nice to plow with. That was much nicer. You did not have to ride in the furrow anymore. Great video.
As my farming career started we would go to the field with 5 IH tractors and plows. A m&w turbo 766 with a IH 511 5x16, a 1066 with IH 511 5x16, a 1466 with a 710 6x16 and 2 IH 1086’s with IH 440’s 5x16’s. 26 bottoms of red power was quite a sight to see in west Tennessee at the time!
Several miles south of Grand Junction, TN in north MS, my uncles ran all red and disked like hell in spring with 480s, a 500, & 496 behind a 1066, 1086, 1466, and 5288. Ran chisel and moldboard plows at times, but it was mostly a disk & do-all fest before planting.
Years ago we plowed with a 1256 and a 550 5-16 plow and a 1086 with 710 5-16. We moved up to a 1566 with a 700 6-16 spring reset and a 7220 magnum and a 6-16 710 plow. Some years we plow 700 acres with the two rigs.
Great video! Nothing wrong with the red dogs! 🙂 Built to last.
i still have my very first ih 986 tractor that i bought used in 1987 and still use it for mowing hay, its been a really good tractor for me , i also have a MX 135 and a JX 95 loader tractor
This video is a 10/10 such great content!
Enjoyed the video. Brought so many memories of when I custom farmed using a 1066
❤ What a BEAUTIFUL SITE IH TRACTORS PLOWIN ❤😊😊 I can remember back in 1976 going to a farm by Montgomery Mn and seeing a BRAND NEW 1566 BLACK STRIPE ❤😊
I met the Farmer that had the 1566 Black Stripe about 4 years ago at the Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Association Showgrounds!! He remembered the day it was delivered to the Farm !! IT was bought brand New from H&W equipment in New Prague Mn ❤❤😊😊😊
I can smell that plowed dirt what a wonderful smell.
Great video! Love the IH equipment.
I’ve got a 700 5/16’s, works real nice on my 190 Allis
Merry Christmas Jason. Thank you for sharing this video, seen a lot of plowing done with these tractors on my dads farm. Thank for the nice gift of this video. John T. We used to plow more than 10 minutes with ours!!!
Well built tractors here ! Thanks for showing ! !
Those classic IH tractors are really neat, great video 👍👍
We plowed with a 1486 pulling a IH 6 bottom 16”
A 766 pulling 4 bottom 16”
The 766 started the land made a round, jumped over and started the next land as 1486 worked on the middle. Then 1486 moves to next land and 766 comes back and finish off the land.
The first real job i got when I was 14 was a small farm in Locke NY called windy acres! Richard had all international tractors 706,977turbo,and i believe a 1066! The 1066 was the biggest one!!! And a nother small tractor! That was 30+ years ago!!! Loved working on that farm! It made you a man!!!!! Worked there till i graduated high school then went to a big farm to work!!
Love the video! I’ve plowed a little with my 460 utility and 311 plow and my 756D with the same 311 plow
This video was so beautiful to see five internationals workin that it made me cry
Great video love all that400 series engine strait pipe action
Great to see a red crew at work😁💪 I always enjoy plowing videos👍👍
I once rolled over 50 acres with a 966 and a 5 furrow variwidth plow. That was in light sand and the furrow width was 21 inches. Took all day and I was in the field at 6 am , as well as late for supper.
Gotta love the 66 and 88 series. We just bought a kinze 2600 12/23 this last Tuesday for the 5288 and spring can't get here fast enough.
Good video as always. I still use them and IH plows also.
Cool video of tractors plowing
Used to plow with a JD 4430 and a 710 5-18's. Sometimes my cousin and I would plow in the same field. He had the same plow behind a 1086. He could travel a little faster than I and would burn about 6½ gals an hour and I would burn over 8. He had the 1086 in the shop for TA and transmission and rear end problems but he never touched the motor.
Yep. That 1086 really did sip the fuel for the power it had.
You are making the best videos of all people
Amazing they just keep going for decades.
I use an International 684 on my small hay farm. I love it!
That is an awesome crew you got filmed there.
Bel video e bella macchine. 🚜👍👍👍
Great video! I have a 1086 and a 1066
Them Dts put out some awesome music
We moldboard plowed all our corn ground this year with a 5-16 720 IH plow pulled by our 2290 Case. Usually we pull it with the 806 but the cab was nice in the wind this fall
My dad farmed with an 806 and 5 bottom plow. LOVED riding with him as a little kid sitting on his lap getting to steer and throttle up and down in the turns.
I have a IH 5288 and a 720 5x16 auto reset plow. did a lot of plowing with it years ago. the 5288 pulls a Disk Chisel now in the fall.
Very nice work! 👍👍🚜🚜⛽
NICE
Brings back a lot of momries of the past were all notill now
Great video.
Loved my 720 toggle-trip plow. If you could drive a tractor through it it’d cut and cover it!
IH built very effective plows. The 720 and 800 got the job done well.
A lot of Hp and a lot of plows. 😮
👋 hey 👋 from Dexter,Missouri
Super awesome video.
I’d love to have a 5488. I know it’s a lot nicer tractor than a 1566, but to think they were well over 2x the cost only 5 years later must have been a tough pill to swallow.
That takes me back to my younger years seeing several tractors out in the field working together. Bout the only difference would be the turning plows ; everyone used flip plows back then now they use switch plows
That is neat. I have only filmed one roll over plow on Deere 8020 4wd. They are cool plows.
Good video
Thank you for watching.
Flatland Farmers 1566 is a beauty. Looks fresh right off the assembly line. Wonder how many hours he's put on it.
I'm thinking it was a 720 international plow we had on a 2590 Case. It was mounted on the three point but the front furrow wheel was operated by one remote and rear wheel was raised and lowered by the second. The tractor was dualled up all the way around and was on land, not in the furrow. It was a 6-18 and it kept us pretty busy especially in some of the smaller fields around here.
We were plowing atleast 1200 acres of corn stalks in the late 1970s. I was just a small man then but spent alot of time seeing the earth turn with International Harvesters. John T.
👍👍
The good old days.
We still have our IH 720 auto reset plows. Grandpa bought them long ago new and we have rebuilt them completely once in my lifetime and I'm 46. We just don't use them anymore though
Nice plow to have. Maybe take it out to a plow day.
👍👍👍👍
I run an old 766, its on the silage feeder all winter and in summer it will run the post pounder and then the 914 combine
It looks like the auxiliary fuel tank also helps keep the nose down. Those old tractors could stand on end pretty easily.
👍👍👏👏👌👌
Well Jason! We do use a McCormick cx95 four wheel drive which if you know anything about a McCormick cx-95 it is a Case IH Maxim under McCormick livery, and we use a Case IH 75c 2 wheel drive both of them pulling international harvester 420 mounted plows. We are a small farm in Western Pennsylvania but we usually play with two outfits when we go. Our fleet goes from a 1941 formal BN to a 2017 75c and it includes a 1947 Farmall m that was bought new by my grandfather and those are main tractor on the farm for years there's nine here they all run they all have their specific jobs
How come 1566 pulling 6 18s 5488 bigger pulling 5 18s just wondering their doing a nice job
Hello! Lots of old Red Power...
Red Power all the way 😁👍
@@bigtractorpower 👌
My dad should get his restored 1568 our 5 bottom plow out and plow some
👍
ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS A 1468 AND A 1568❤❤😊😊
I have a 1066 the same as these tractors. The only difference I can see is the “Aussie version “ has different shaped rear mudguards, more rounded and covering the wheels more. Regards from Down Under.
A plow day?? Surely no one is still routinely plowing this much with the price of fuel and proven no till techniques.
This is a farm. Plowing still has a place for some farms.
Nice lineup of tractors there.
Are the plows not adjusted right?
- I would think the objective would be to bury all the crop residue.
Miss the smell of freshly turned ground
I think that 1566 was in a planting video on BTP, was it not?
It does look similar
Did the 1566 have a 6:spee transmission 3high and 3low?
Yes I like the video although I see you got the horsepower ratings wrong on the 1066 and the 1466. The ratings you have was for the first year of production and then the remaining five years the 1066 had 125 horse and the 1466 has 145 horse
I had a 5288 with a 735 vari-with six bottom with automatic resets that I also used my 1466 blackstripe open station and then I also had a 700 on land plow 6-18 automatic resets that I would use when both duals were on the tractor for late spring plowing 👍🏽
Please you are the only person you can make one video with a 4300
at 6:42 , is that engine blowby? ...nice tractor line up
Looks to be.
I am sure it is blow by
400 series engines are known to have some blow by.
Inoticed the same thing. Looks excessive. Is it?
Wonder how they level out the furrow left on the last pass
Hi growing up in the 70s & 80s we used 720 5/18 automatic reset behide 1466s or 1486s and 5488 with a 6/18 automatic reset then we moved up two 800 12/18 automatic reset that we still use today.
Just wondering why they are plowing under what little stubble was left? Not concerned about erosion? Farming has come a long but that's about 5 steps backwards in the wrong direction. Would have nice to have seen a cover crop going in right behind them.
This is heavy soil that does best when turned over. No till is not prevalent in this region. This area produces 300 by corn and that leaves behind lots of stalks that the soil helps break down faster.
@@bigtractorpower looks like it was either chopped or stalks were baled....
I'd love to see a video of the tractors leveling the field off before planting
I can to a plowing to planting video. Stay tuned.
Never understood why reversible ploughs never court on like they did in Europe, I know 4wd is needed, but the time saved on headlands & needless running on said parts of a field are doing no favours to the land............Nice to see Nashes at work, models we never see in the UK.
Back in the 50s, 60s every farmer here in Canada had all Massey Ferguson equipment (tractors, combines and any other farm equipment they use). That is all my dad had, my uncles had were Massey Ferguson diesel equipment. Then in the 70s, Massey Ferguson did something which really angered the Canadian farmer. This resulted in all farmers switching to Case International Harvesters. I was young enough (late teens early twenties) that I did not put it to memory what it was. Do you remember or have done anything on this in a video. Still, you will very rarely ever find anything John Deere in Canada unless it is a small garden tractor or lawnmower. John Deere has never been big here. Case or New Holland are what runs Canada.
BULLSHIT !!!!!
Great video..boy I wish those guys were wearing ear muffs..those screaming diesels make your ears ring!! Ask me how I know…
Maybe they have earplugs.
What’d ya say?!
Yeah mine still ringing 40 years later after many hours on a 1066
do you got a fordson major diesel on the chanall
