  • Do this to get more time in the barrel
Surfers love to get barreled but some know how to slow things down and get more time in the barrel. I analyze a few great barrel rides to dissect what these surfers are doing.
Thanks for watching! I'm Brad Jacobson and I'll sea ya on the sand.

Great rides but ask Ben Gravy about dragging a hand in the wave. Freak accident maybe but very serious bicep separation.

The way the all surfers are so focused is insane, whenever a wave start to curl over me I get kinda nervous even tho its the best feeling.

I owe you a major thanks. I watched this yesterday and you mentioned how one of the surfers at 1:20ish repositioned his arms forward to shift more weight towards the front of the board to get more speed. Well I went surfing this morning and what a world of difference it made to actually use my arms to distribute weight which in turn helped me stay on the wave or pull in. There was one wave where I had a late drop and I put both my leading and trailing hand forward but sort of towards the wave which helped me pull in to maintain the high line and it was hands down my favorite wave of the day. There was another very weak wave but just kinda goofing off I put both my hands forward which actually kept me on the wave all the way into the steeper inside zone where the wave had more punch and a faster line. This is such a game changer, I feel like I didn’t really know what to do with my hands before so now I feel much more confident riding waves
