I met Paul at a pizzeria back a couple of years ago during one of his early meet and greets. Like people have said, he's essentially the same as who you see in the videos: humble, plainspoken, and respectful. You can quickly tell he's just genuinely who he portrays himself to be at face value.

I remember as a teacher getting taught that if enough people give you the wrong feedback/error on a test etc than something was wrong with the instructor or the test etc. So if enough of these morons are saying the same wrong thing he definitely needs to "clarify" for them their errors, its his duty!

I wanted some background noise so I'm playing video games on my phone I made the mistake of going to his RUclips channel I stopped playing the game on my phone which was my main objective for the day. But I stopped playing the game to watch my background noise. Love his videos and simplified long winded explanations that a nuclear physicist could understand or a kid who just learned how to read.
The first 7 minutes of this video remind me of coming back to school after missing a day and listening to the teacher explain to the class how they all fucked up on yesterday's test.

The nature of what you share in your videos involves lethal force and deserves ALL of the explanations that you feel are appropriate for safety. Since you do not know if a viewer is watching you for the first time, repetition is essential for clarity. People can always fast forward a "long winded" explanation if they wish and get to the main point of your topic. Too bad hateful and judgmental people feel justified in making inane comments on a superb channel.
I never thought that I’d hear Paul Harrell ranting about Modern Warfare trolls, this is so weird, it’s like a hallucination. I actually starting laughing really loud when he said the quote and said something about a watermelon.
I always, always LOL watching his stuff.
I saw that same thing on a CheyTac Intervention vid by Forgotten Weapons. Comments was filled with a bunch of people ignoring the interesting stuff about the rifle and making stupid comments.

Same here and my advise to Paul is that he needs to keep his ego in check. listen Paul, your content stands for itself and no matter what you do you will be trolled, that's what people do on social media. You need to do one of two things, 1) Stop reading comments (I would suggest this, I never read comments) 2) ignore the trolls. Your content is great but you just spent 7 minutes at the start dealing with trolls that you really didn't need to. In my eyes you are an expert, one of many I listen to and like most things, they can be done correctly many different ways and I always take your opinion in high regard and don't always agree and don't need to when I feel you are correct most the time. Stop allowing the trolls to get you triggered like this. Also, calling out people as basement dwelling kids is common for people who get triggered emotionally by internet trolls and actually insults a lot of normal people, especially younger generations which which is a normal in life. Stick to the facts and science and most your viewers will also ignore trolls.

Mr. Harrell, you continue to amaze me favorably. As an old man who served in the U. S. Army and qualified expert with both the M14 and M16 platforms, who grew up hunting and has continued into advanced years, who has carried concealed for well over 50 years, and who still shoots regularly and often, I find you refreshing, instructive and entertaining. Your knowledge, skill, and experience are evident and your self-control and patience must be nearly limitless. I often learn from your videos and I never fail to be entertained. Thank you for your service to our country and thank you for your continuing service to the shooting community through this channel.

The true dedication to being a teacher on Paul's behalf comes from the clarification of every possible nuance possible. Making sure to put the effort into tying to have not a single soul is left behind no matter who they are puts this man's teaching ability to a realm I've never seen before. Truly a man of intellect, talent, and patience most of all. Major kudos.

Paul would probably sigh and say, “The word you’re looking for is ‘pendantic.’ Now, I realize that many of you did not have a proper education that included a plethora of educated vocabulary; however, I have. For those who do not like what Mr. Harrell is doing, please change the channel, and leave the rest of us who come here to learn and be entertained alone. To you Mr. Harrell I say you are doing a great job by informing us on different topics and maintaining a honest and unbiased opinion. Also always reminding what works best for you may be different than what works best for the individual. Keep up the great work.👍
But if they did that, we wouldn’t get gems like this video. Don’t misunderstand, Paul’s feathers seem genuinely ruffled by some of those comments, so I don’t want it to happen that often. Once every couple of months.

I enjoy Paul passive aggressively reloading without looking at the firearm instead staring at the camera, likely inadvertently to prove even more that he is knowledgeable in what he is talking about.
Literally every accomplished shooter looks at their firearm when reloading because it is faster. You are right though, it does display a level of knowledge… just not the way you interpret it.

People who say Paul doesn't know what he's talking about are the reason the phrase "special kind of stupid" was coined.
Those people need to watch the "Rebuttal" video over and over until they get the point.

It's not about stupid, it's about pride. Some people are too proud to consider that their knowledge/experience has limits.
My own experience. These "special kind of people" ARE USUALLY NOT FROM THE US. Since most of them are not from the USA they get their gun knowledge from video games, TV show or whatever and from Fuddlore on the internet. They DO NOT LIKE TO WATCH EDUCATIONAL content when come to firearms. They prefer channels like FPS Russia or channel that do a lot of shooting.
I have never once watched a Paul Harrell video and thought "He was too long winded" or "I'm confused. He didn't explain that thoroughly enough." I think all the trolls need to take a long walk off a short pier. I also think this video is a great illustration of the Dunning Kruger effect in action (trolls thinking they know much more than Paul).

I've thought to myself "damn this guy talks a lot". The thing with Paul is that there's value to the words he speaks. A lot of people, such as the parrot-esque trolls, just spew bullshit endlessly.

I can't tell if he gets the modern warfare reference "switching to your pistol is faster than reloading" and is making a bit of a joke or if he just actually thinks we're stupid. Which, to be fair, we are.
@@microwavetechnician7493 ; The thing is that meme are simply used the wrong way, memetics is supposed to be used to convey information, it turned into spouting bullshit however. Also if you wouldn't be familiar with they subject one might surmise that such a meme was actually the truth.

@@microwavetechnician7493 What Paul stumbled upon here, is what I call 'The Chinese Room Experiment of the Internet.' Since I also don't particularly feel like going into a 'dawn of time' explanation, just google 'Chinese room thought experiment,' and then, with that bit of knowledge under your belt, you should be able to see how people are firing off pre-programmed responses to given conditions or stimuli. That's what the 'switching to your pistol is faster than reloading' meme-spam was about. It's not that they were communicating anything that carried meaning, that was just the programmed response. It only looks meaningful to an observer outside the room because we infer meaning based on our context. They aren't aware of even the existence of any meaning of the phrase, they're just spouting random words that they happened to get programmed to respond with given the stimuli. It's just an input-response system. There's no thinking, and it perfectly describes people on the internet who 'communicate' in nothing but memes and stupid South Park references.

Man, I feel like he didn't like how I, along with a whole bunch of people, liked how he literally made a video about whether reloading is slower than switching to sidearm. Especially sad since his fruit killing skills are remarkable.

Been watching a LONG time, Paul, and never found a fault or problem in your delivery or content. Just plain helpful, educational and humorous in some very appropriate ways. Your true motives show in your flexibility and diligence in dealing with those who misunderstand, or ferociously and arrogantly engage their keyboards before their brains. Keep up the good work. You're obviously a well-trained, well-rounded professional.
I dont think Paul realizes that the reason his double barreled shotgun is defective is because it can fire one barrel at a time and everyone knows that the only advantage of a double barreled shotgun is to dump two loads of buckshot into a charging demon or some other reprobate in one volley.
Or as a current politician would erroneously say, "fire two blasts" to "deal with a problem".

Many moderately priced, side by side double barreled shotguns do have selective fire. Mine allows to fire both barrels by pulling both triggers at once. The one at time option is great for more fragile targets. It also reduces reloading per blast significantly.
That game's old enough that it's entirely possible that Paul has actually played it.
When Harry Callahan said "a man's got to know his limitations" what he was really talking about was how old men's rotator cuffs can call the tune on holster placement.
@@Griffo34 I had to good fortune to break my tailbone jumping off the New River Gorge bridge in my early 20's. Because of that lesson I still have knees and shoulders. I'm sure the military didn't give Paul any choices in the matter and he carries the damage.

Personally as a novice gun user/owner I enjoy the in depth discussions you do. I have found them very helpful in my firearm learning experience and they have even given me things to think about when considering my firearm choices in terms of purchasing and deployment. Also I appreciate the commentary as it pertains to those that comment without insight into what they are commenting on. Keep up the great work and awesome videos!

I like single point setups on a plate carrier, setup on the shoulder to avoid the nut racking. We set up wolf-hooks on our kit overseas for general use.

@@bumpercoach Oh no, I saw Paul's 'Rebuttal' video when it was first posted. I just think it might have been kinder and more merciful of Paul to beat his interlocutor half to death with his bare hands.
And I agree, it was absolutely deserved. I actually asked Paul about my own revolver, a S&W M&P revolver, and mentioned to him that the spent casings on mine _do_ practically just fall out of the gun, to the point where I don't even have time to get my hand on the ejector rod.
Well, that was and is definitely true for target loads of .38 special, but if I shoot anything loaded hotter than that, like Hornady Critical Defense .38 special +p, then it does require a strike of the ejector rod. Just not a hard or sharp hit like what he described in the video. Of course, if I'm shooting .357 magnum out of that revolver (which, frankly, I hate doing), then I do basically have to beat that ejector rod like I'm a fucking caveman to get the spent cases out. Of course, if you're in an actual situation, even with super light loads, it's still a faster reload to just smack the ejector rod like a disobedient sister than to just let them fall out.
The guy who started all of that by trash-talking Paul, definitely deserved that rebuttal, and he had no idea what he was talking about.
@@stupidanon5941 No. When people go DI or Gunny it involves a lot of yelling. My 6.5 months in 1998 ion the USBP, all physical aspects of that Academy used to be DI’s and Gunnies. We had two hell weeks and another sand pit to celebrate Christmas. Now, I have met people who were in those positions later in life in different spheres in different jobs. One went to investigations and stayed there. I did it for awhile. Then after a different agencies we crossed paths. The angry little DI that changed black flags to red flags in scalding months before winter came, because we needed to go for a run or march on the mostly abandoned Naval base, and made two long syllables of words like Fry-Day, was meek and quiet in a different life and I shook his hand. The the most people don’t understand about Marines, having also sharing a barracks with one all that time is there is a lot of anger there. In regular civilian life in the public a lot of them use a low key voice like, Paul. This is to try to put the public at ease. I guarantee you, if you go and goad Paul off camera just to do it, you might catch a case of what I like to call “Marine Mouth” I learned about that in my formative mid_20’s having to live it and experience it for a protracted period of time in that environment. My wife hates it. When someone does something that is so above the pale idiotic, perform fraudulent work, or does not live up to their obligations (Think USAA) for instance. The same people that shut down my credit card at an Aldis after a 100 year massive snow storm that made everyone stuck for two weeks and some moron thought my food purchases were two high because, I don’t know, I hadn’t hit the emergency food and MRE’s yet? When the line was held up because of this and my wife had to use a clothing card for the food purchase. The moment I got home I called USAA about the nonsense they pulled? They started off being smug. Marine Mouth came out. They went from aloof to crying and saying they would much rather talk to my wife than me. Paul, when he is tensely livid for those that can’t pick up on it, is keeping that inner Devil Dog on a floss rope. I think friendly guy humor aside, don’t truly piss off Paul, ever.
I just transitioned from another gun video to this one.
I always learn something from these videos. My NAA pistol has these cylinder notches. I thought it was something NAA made up. Thanks again for another great video!
