Great list, and can we talk about how awesome you are at making these videos? Your explanations, the footage of each game, AND you're succinct! Some content creators do go on 🙄. I take issue with only one thing - you showing off your fancy pants deluxe version of Kohaku. How am I to play my loser retail edition with those crappy cardboard tiles, hm? Oh, woe is me 😢 (and shame on you!).
Hahaha Donna if it makes you feel better, my version of Kohaku comes with protective film on both sides of the acrylic tiles. This was so painful you will notice plenty of tiles with this left on because I was lazy. Lol at least you don't get that with your cardboard tiles 🤣 Such a fun video to make, I'm really glad you enjoyed it 😊
Once again, I finished your video feeling conflicted-hah! Seeing a list heavily dominated by Euro and nature-themed games, it’s impossible not to notice a strong bias. Most of the games are neither well-known nor rank high on BGG, so it’s a great source of inspiration for discovering new titles. I also appreciate the inclusion of both very difficult and more straightforward games in the same video, which makes the list feel realistic and relatable for someone who plays in various player groups with diffrent people. That said, it’s amusing that your top two picks are games I didn’t particularly enjoy. It just goes to show how different our tastes can be in the end. Still, it’s great to see someone else’s perspective. I wouldn’t gain much from watching a top 50 list that perfectly mirrored my own, after all. Great work, and a pleasure to watch. Thanks a lot!
This is such a great comment thank you. You are 100% spot on, I very much have a bias towards animal/nature theme. It's hard to explain but one of my favourite quotes is "great game, great mechanics but needs to be rethemed to an animal/critter world game". Every game is better with cute critters 😁 I also split my games into 4 categories - games group, play with my partner, play with my family (3 girls 9/11/14) and solo. Each one of these games on the list is best depending which category it falls under. So hopefully there is some suggestions for everyone 😀
Way to start off the top 10 with Lorcana!! And I love the unique (from what I've seen of others) list overall! And Flam instead of Heat is what I've heard is the best route! And Parks at 5! Love it!!!! Legitimately one of the best channels. What you do is what I aspire to! Keep it up!
Mate feel free to reach out at anytime. I would happily chat about the lessons and mistakes I have learnt along the way. It's only now I feel like I seem to have got a roll going, lots of hard work and learning new things like editing which i had never touched previously. But learning is the fun part I reckon 👍
Thanks so much 😃 oh you will love Lacuna I'm sure. I took this on a cruise and the amount of time I had people come over to ask about this game was crazy. It looks great on the table, plays quick and is really unique.
Thank you so much Jordan. Was a lot of work but I'm really proud of the end result. I'm going to try and do more of these types of videos in the future as tge feedback has been super positive 👍
I love Japan so much, I cant wait to come back and visit ❤️ thank you so much for watching my video. Im super excited to hear your thoughts on Kanban EV when you play it 👍
Great to have you on board JK. I am really happy that this video has spread to a wider audience, and I get awesome new subscribers like yourself. Thanks heaps 👍
Totally agree, I have all 3 including Tokaido Duo and love playing them all. Namiji is wonderful and adds more variety to the original game. I last played it 2 weeks ago and introduced it to new gamers, they were blown away. So great introductory game for sure!
Heya mate, yeah I have been hoping to get this done for ages. Been working on it for nearly 2 weeks, really happy with the final result 😀 Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Incredible video. I'm sure the shots and editing took a lot of work, but it added so much to the video. That, coupled with the succinct, straight-to-the-point summaries of each game, and you've got the best "top board games" format of any channel I've seen! Now for my one and only gripe: where's Spirit Island??
Haha well Spirit Island is one of my mates fave games. Played his copy multiple times now and super enjoy it. Great theme and great game lol let's just make it number 51 😁 Super appreciate the comment, this is the first time I have tried this style of video. Really positive feedback, so going to try more in the future 👍
Great list but what about the insane image quality! This sets this channel apart! Wow! So much work behind this! High praise! Where can I learn more about your Flamme Rouge own solo mode (I also prefer it to Heat)!
I really do appreciate this comment thank you so much. It was a mountain of work for sure but really happy I finally got to do this video! There is an official solo variant on the file section of BGG, but I just don't enjoy this as it doesn't include exhaustion for the AI riders. In my version I draw 3 cards for each AI, put the first 2 face up underneath and play their 3rd card. I also add in exhaustion for AI and shuffle when they get to face up stack as per normal. I also keep exhaustion cards going into follow-on races in a tour, 0 for last team, 1 for 2nd last, 2 for 3rd last etc. This seems to keep the teams even over a tour. I hope that all makes sense 😀
Heya Paul, amazing you got to see this video. Such an incredible design and concept. Really looking forward to getting my Fall Flavours expansion to the table ❤️
Haha I hope I didnt hurt the wallet too much 😁 Wingspan just keeps me excited, from solo to all the expansions. Looking forward to the next expansion, though it's felt like a really long wait. Appreciate the comment and would love to hear if you get to try any of those other games 👍
Thanks heaps mate, will very much take you up on that offer I'm sure 😁 I see Red Raven bringing out a new stand alone Above and Below: Haunted. I will 100% need to get myself a copy of this game when it comes out.
I really liked the video, you are very eloquent when explaining the gist of a game in like 30 seconds, I commend you for that! I was very much surprised, given your taste in games, do not see the game obsession in here, 🤔... I also love lacerda games, but when I do not have the time for the whole setup and long playtime - plus the takedownh for a lacerda game, obsession scratches that itch, it is basically a distilled lacerda game! have you tried it?
Unfortunately this is one game I am yet to try. I have such good things about Obsession, so I very much want to try it. Any games I don't own, normally at least one friend has a copy but in this instance not. I am going to Pax later this year, I will see if I can bring home a copy. You had me at a Distilled Lacerda like game. Really appreciate the suggestion 👍
@@BangersProject ooh! Lucky you that you'll be at PAX, I can't make it myself cuz of work 😞 ... thank you for taking the time to reply to me : ) , and yes I am very confident that you will like Obsession, if you can , try it with the upstairs and downstairs expansion, which just basically adds some extra workers with different abilities, it doesn't change the game all too much complexity-wise, but it gives you a lot of flexibility with thoae new workers, also try to find a player aid on BGG with a diagram of which servants (workers) can step in to double as a different type of worker, that is very helpful on your first plays , enjoy!
Interesting to see a list without the heavy hitters. Light games are not my cup of tea, nut nonetheless it's cool to see "small" games being appreciated!
Thank you so much for the comment. I think it's nice to have variety out there, my taste is definitely unique but hopefully people find some great suggestions in this list 👍
Brilliant question. The Dwellings combat is simplified beauty in my opinion. Move your worker into a hex with an opponent will trigger the battle. Next any worker that is in corresponding hex may join the battle - this could be you, your opponent or someone else not in the fight may now join the battle. Each worker has a different dice value eg. Dragon 3 dice, standard worker 1 dice. Then everyone rolls the dice in the battle simultaneously and is not based on combined scores of dice. Only a single dice can win, and dice of same values counter each other. If you both roll a 6, then the 6s are removed, let's say you both also rolled 5s, again these remove each other, finally one player rolls a 3 and the opponent a 2. Well the 3 wins the battle. If you lose in the battle your workers go to the underworld and mean you can't use these workers for actions upon recall of workers. The beauty is that you can win the fight with a single dice against someone with say 5 dice. You roll a 6 and they roll all 5 and under ... boom you win. The battles are just straight up fun! Probably a terrible explanation, highly recommend you go check it out 👍
Interesting the only game I own on her is Wingspan without expansions and nothing else. XD Not a single one of these is in my top 50, but would be intriguing trying them out. So incredible I haven't heard or tried most of these games, boardgames continue to blow my mind.
Mate feel terrible going through my vids to ensure I replied to everyone, and sadly I missed this one. Only 4 weeks late but I did it 😂 Thank you again.
@ManFromTheFizz I think for smaller channels like mine it adds a personal touch. There are so many great videos for people to watch on YT, so if someone takes the time to view one of my videos, I feel like it's the least I can do and let them know i read their comment 😃
ISS Vanguard is the only sci-fi adjacent game I truly enjoy. Sci-fi is probably my least favourite theme unfortunately. I really dispised Xia and currently getting rid of Gaia Project from my collection. The only other game that was pretty close to my top 50 was Anachrony and On Mars. Anachrony is great but it rarely hits my table and On Mars is incredible but i prefer Vinhos and Kanban over it. If I made a top 50 solo games, On Mars would make that list with the Alien Invasion expansion.
I actually think Wyrmspan is mechanically a better game but I don't like the art or theme. I think it shows that the art/theme overall is ranked fairly high for me. I can relate to birds and I got attached to certain cards and get excited when i see them. I summed it up best in my review, for every 10 games played - I would pick Wingspan 8 and Wyrmspan 2 times. So overall it's still a great game, if you like the dragon theme then definitely try it out.
Omg you would think that I would love Root but for whatever reason it just didn't work for me. I'm actually so much more excited for the Root RPG that's on Kickstarter at the moment. I don't have any RPG friends but really want to try this somehow.
There is so much yes in here, but I feel the no as well. 😂 Luckily, we all don’t have the same taste. What a bland world that would be! All the top X lists would be the same. 😅

The Dwelling's tile mat drip is soooooo good.
This was my mates copy that night but I have the exact same mat at home and it's glorious. Puts most other mats to shame 😁
Hello from Tokyo, Japan!
Because of your recommendation, I purchased Kanban EV.
This would be my first heavy game!
Thank you for the great list.
