Haha colour by number is actually pretty relaxing. If you managed to play a game in 30 minutes, I take my hat off to you. I have never managed to get even close to that playtime. Try double that time and that's more the average on a good day.

@ i agree it depends on the factions you choose but I don’t get all the hate for this game in the video and the comments. I mean hell my family plays everything from gloomhaven to too many bones, to checkers. So we kinda run the spectrum on all kinds of games, confusing-simple short-long. I found command of nature to be a quick and easy card builder pvp style game that was enjoyable for all. If your faction is weaker than your opponents you have other tricks up your sleeve to help like card draw, formation manipulation and more. If that fails you can always buy warriors from other factions on your turn. TL:DR- I think your video does a great disservice for steering people away from this game. Is it perfect? Certainly not, but it’s quick and fun and easy to pick up

@Danarchy3 appreciate the comment. I am sorry if it feels like a disservice, I hoped to try and convey while I didn't enjoy it as is - that I offered alternative ways to play it for more enjoyment. I am a massive fan of Here To Slay but feel like Unstable Games have not hit the mark in their latest releases. Try Age of Eon for a much better 2 player battler, or alternatively I would prefer to play Lorcana or Magic.

I really enjoyed this comment. As always this is only my point of view, but I think you have the shell of a really great game. I would suggest just trying a few different options to improve it for you and your family and see what works. Some people like the original, some like my suggestions, others have come up with their own house rules. Either way it's about maximising the fun for you. Hope you enjoy the game 😀

Thank you so much Jamie, I still have plans to update this video to fix the error with the item cards and add in the new additions to gameplay from the later sets. But should still be a great starting point for you to get into it. I was just as hesitant as you so I totally get it. This is the best TCG to start off with, not as overwhelming as some of the other options 👍

Now 6 player arena with the expansion actually sounds interesting 🤔 I think the key is that I do want more factions to play with so maybe I should invest in the expansion after all.

Super appreciate the comment. Yeah Rats of Wistar is such a solid euro, and made me realise how much I love rondels as a mechanism in games. Another game I really love with a rondel is Coloma. Both are great fun!

Yeah it really is such a great game. My most recent play was at 4 players and every person around the table really enjoyed it as well. I'm loving what Bad Comet Games are doing lately.

Really well explained. The nuances are quite intricate in this game and do shift the odds of success. I really did enjoy digging deeper in this game to understand if there is ways to succeed, but sounds like I am still only scratching the surface.

I can completely respect that. The original Catan is a masterpiece really, and slapping a new coat of paint over the top doesn't change people's love for the original.

Yeah, it’s basically a highly destructive endgame. Almost makes the lv8 champion seem a bit underpowered since you have to get it out of your deck before the game ends. Had a lot of fun with it though!

The more I play duelling games like this, I think the sweet spot is 20-30 minutes. Maybe that's just a personal feeling and I am sure there is a market for longer playing card duellers, but sadly thats just not me. I agree the faction abilities escalate but it takes such a long time to reach that crescendo, that my interest by that stage is long gone.

Super appreciate it. The more I read these comments the more I wish there were alternate options for play. Maybe a quick play variant (as well as the long play) would appease both lots of people. A lot of games now have variants included as standard, I just wish we had those options, so I didn't have to house rule. I also agree with that ambiguity, for a company that makes millions from these games, you could really spend the time and money in perfecting both the gameplay and rulebook.

Unfortunately I have not played Fantasy Realms. I am not a fan of the art style but so many people are massive fans of the gameplay, so I really must try and get this played. I have heard it's all about the combos and ability to change strategies based on the cards. It does look fun 👍

You are right there could be a case here for a modular board. The goals could be on a separate board as they do take up most of the room. Appreciate the comment 👍

Just had a look over the rules again and I reckon you could be right. I read it originally as the worker has the 'same placement rules' as the captain as meaning the 'same rules' as the captain. But yeah looks like only the captain scores. Massive mistake there, my apologies 😞 Really do appreciate you pointing it out 👍

Hi there! Wondrous Creatures publisher, Bad Comet here :) We wanted to clarify that even when Tingent's crew member moves, it scores points based on the habitat it is adjacent to. On page 24 of the rulebook, it states that "The same placement rules as Captain placement rules apply" which confirms that Tingent's Regular crew member follows the same scoring rules as Tingent's Captain Crew member. Let us know if we can further clarify or if there are any questions!

Thank you for the comment and it does make sense. I think I was short-sighted originally and do agree that there is strategy involved and decent planning is required to be successful. This was one of my earlier videos, and I reckon I let my emotion at the time cloud how I presented the information. Some of my frustrations though still remain in Command of Nature, and it is dissapointing that these games didn't capture me like I had originally hoped.

@ Having played quite a few more rounds of this by now, I am definitely feeling some frustration with how heavily luck influences the outcome. For example, if you initially roll three or more curses on a single turn, it pretty much wrecks the turn for you. Not likely, but it does happen, and it sucks when it happens. One or two unlucky turns can cost you the game.

This is certainly a fair point. If you own the original, then best to save your money. But it's a fun twist on the original, so hopefully you still get to play it someday 👍

Yeah this is all my feelings as well. The problem is you know that the game has plenty of potential to be amazing, yet the rules manage to dampen the fun. I still love the artwork and concept, so it's love-hate feelings as well.

This is completely accurate. The original games were great and built up a reputation. But sadly everything lately does feel rushed. I commented in both my Casting Shadows vid and this one that it truly feels like they didn't properly playtest these games. When you are making millions of dollars from crowdfunding, you can afford to spend time on proper playtesting with people outside of their inner circle.

I think that in the game "Here to Slay" there are too many cards that one doesn't want to use during a game because it's not worth the dice roll for such a weak effect and many others that are boring. In the end they are filler cards, something similar happens to me with most of the magic cards in "Casting Shadows"

Tinderbox is another great example, I haven't played it yet but looks fun. Yeah Rush MD is brilliant, I would love to see Artipia bring out a 3rd game in this series.

This is honestly the best way to do it, I wish I had the willpower to stay stronger with my collection. Since this video, I have added another 5-6 games and got rid of none. I am falling into bad habits again sadly.

Yeah Rhino Hero really does deserve to be on this list for sure. I had to look up both DroPolter and Riff Raff and both great suggestions I had never come across. Balancing on a pirate ship sail looked super fun 😁

Funny you say this, I had an intro that I recorded that talked about the main games in each sub-category like stacking, flicking, precision and speed. I had all 3 that you mentioned in that original intro, Crokinole, Rhino Hero and Klask 😃 I ended up cutting it out as I had 2 intros and the video felt too long. But all brilliant games for sure 👍
