WHO KNEW THE MASSEY QUATTRINO EVEN EXISTED??

We take a look at the most rare Massey Ferguson ever built. The Hybrid Quattrino 4120 and 4135. We discuss what we know about this enigma of a tractor. Why they were built, who built them, and how many are out there.

OK, some things you didn't get quite right
The 4120 is based on the smaller 3115 without a turbo. The 3125 already had a turbo. The 4135 is based on the large 3635, both with the Perkins 1006.6 and not the 6.354
Then the Dropbox was bolted to the original 16-speed or optional 32-speed gearbox instead of the original rear axle behind the housing with the all-wheel output that also contains the original hydraulic pump. The additional pumps were for the forestry Tractors that need more oil. These were sold in green as sogedep, mostly with specially made trailers but always without fenders.
The 4135 had the option of 18.4 R 34
P.s. I would have almost bought the one from @22:32 if it hadn't been sold the day before my trip to France to have a look

I’ve been to wheelans garage before and the heritage museum I’m very surprised they have one now I’m definitely going to try and go back there

Interesting video there Alan,never heard or saw that massey before,but you can be sure Joe Whelan will have it restored to its former glory before long, id say he would be only too willing to help with info on the tractor,great lads all the whelans, haven't been down to see the museum yet either

Well done Alan, by the time this came out, I'd left the industry for a different type of service sector field service engineering. When I first saw it I thought it was an MB trac, so well done on getting what info you have, If it took you just 2 months, that is very good for what there is around on this tractor. I know when I first became interested in Ag Engineering, I couldn't find any info about MH, Roadless, County the list is endless as there was no internet even thought of in those days, everything had to be done in library books and records... Alan, you need to dig deeper, the information is out there. The unit was exhibited at SIMA so 1,000's of people would have seen it and spoken to the Roux Industry sales representatives. Lots of people sourced components from MF Industrial (FERMEC). The engine was a Perkins naturally aspirated 1006 (3085/3095/3120) and a turbo 1006T (3125/3635,3645/3655) . It was not a true Massey Ferguson but Roux Industries unit based on MF components and they had an loose agreement and support from MF Engineering to use the technology and name to assist with product promotion. This was the same as JPG Engineering with their 6 x 6's 390 and 4245. Roux could have made a much better job of the hydraulics by incorporating the 300 Series hydraulic pumps from the engines auxilluary drive and other improvements, but hej, every project has a budget and targets to meet. The ELC was a Bosch System and many of the electro/mechanical controls were somilat to the system used on the 3000/3600 Series.

Thanks, Graham. Yes, I'm sure there is a lot more info out there. As regards the emgine used? I have a technical brochure from Roux, and it lists the engine as being the 6.354 and not 1000.6 Quadram engine used in the 3120 etc

I don't think it was built on a 3120 ..the 3120 wasn't introduced until late 1993

Hi Dave. Thanks for your comment. The MF 3120 was initially launched in 1990 with 111 HP. In 1992, it got a power upgrade to 120 HP before being discontinued in 1996. While the 3120 had the Quatram 1000.6 engine, the Quattrino was listed as having the 6.354 . However, they shared many other features, mainly body panels and cab parts.
