Would love to hear a podcast with Charlie and older hands like Alister cooks father and ol Tam. An hour long with each. They are great story tellers. Could listen to them for days
Charlie young Ken Cooke Tom Clyde and Leslie mcclean in the one room talking about how things were done in their day and the advancements in agriculture that they’ve seen in their lifetime. From what they done back thirty, forty, fifty years ago, When men were men. Now that would be a video to watch.
You could listen to that man all day, the happiness on his face talking about machinery would do your heart the world of good, just reminds me of my granda
Best video on RUclips in year's. More of these chats needed. Ye shud have copped on while doing the interview that this was gold. And maybe ud never get that man again. And kept it going and got as much as possible. What that man knows and could tell us. Can never be got. Its in 1 head only. He is what yer channel is supposed to be about. Farming life. By a man who rolled at the top of it. I hope ye have more of that man telling ye stories for future videos. If not it means ye cant spot what ye are doing or where ye are going.
Charlie knows his stuff. Hope we get more interviews with him. As everyone else has basically said, could listen to him talking for days. Good man Charlie🤝🤝
Great interview with this man and he has some selection of tractors and best of all his history and knowledge of tractors. Getting to chat on video with these people who came up in different times and hear what they came through is a pure piece of farming history. Remember the stories my father and uncle talked about when they were out trashing on the country but sadly no video equipment available then unlike now to record their experiences and share it with people who in years to come might want to look back at how things were done. Great video John and it must have been hard for you surrounded by so many tractors that aren't Green. Lol...
His row of multi power tractors is probably unique. What hurt the Multi Power was that the early ones had no filter in the gearbox & thus dirt in the oil caused premature wear in the Multi Power plates. By the time they fitted filters in the 500 series the reputation was lost. I loved his 35x Multi Power. We had one when I was 10 in 1971. We actually cut all our grass with it & a 42” JF side mounted harvester. They were worth less than a standard 35 back then but are very collectible now. When I turned 16 we had a brand new 165, but I took the 35 everywhere because she was much quicker on the road. 👍
I remember years ago at McElderrys silage demonstration Charlies new class harvester was there, Alwyn was a teenager, he stepped on to her and showed the salesman how to drive it properly
Charlie really loves telling the story's behind the Masseys, you can see the genuine excitement in his face. Multi power got a bad name because when drivers came to go down a hill they changed into low multi but the tractor runs off in low multi, it was a major advancement in its day and works well if you understand it. Just the way I started with my first Contracting job as I had purchased my first Jones Red Hay-star Baler and was asked to bale a field😊 it was just a Spare to help on the farm and was the start of my 20 year's as a Bale Contracting With 10 Jones 10 T and 6 Trailers 3 mowing Tractors and a Welgar 12 S Round Baler and Wrapping Service And 15 Tractors was not Allways Enough and the Bad Weather in 2010 made the job impossible and I only sold off the Machinery and kept the Tractors with many more came my way and last week I purchased my first Ferguson TEF20 and the plough the next Day 😂 We would move 1000 Bales in one Night with 6 Trailers and for 20 year's I worked 18 /22 Hrs a Day As I Also had a Jcb Digger and worked in a Garage in the Day 😮
