I went to see it recently in Dublin. Im a 6ft male from the West of Ireland with three kids who attended with me an once this song began I was overcome with emotion, spent most of the show with a tear in my eye. Such a sad story.
I’m proud to own this recording. If one considers everything that is important about interpreting Butterfly then Angela delivers the consummate performance and sound on record.I realise it’s a matter of taste but this is the definitive version for me.
Oh, Angela! Como amo teu talento e tua voz! Nunca vi e nunca senti algo tao perfeito. Sinto como se os céus abrissem suas portas e um anjo viesse me falar. Bravo!
Beautiful! Also, I was surprised she went for the high C sharp. Many lyrics forgo it, and Angela Gheorghiu was never a high note specialist. Still, she is very successful here.
Fantastically done. My favorite part of the opera. One must be so very delicate with this which can make it so difficult for Butterfly's that flourish in say the second and third acts. You rarely hear it sung so beautifully. Brava Angela! Second only to Freni's recording of it. Just my matter of opinion though.
@@crazyorganist1609 True that. Every Butterfly diva gives Callas her due; all deeply influenced by her. But my top Italian soprano will always be Freni. Perfection!
It's too powerful, it isn't right for the aria, hers cannot compare to Freni or Jaho's today. She ruins this ending after some sublime singing in the build up.
Ms. Price did come to mind. And I be love Ms. Freni as well. Personally given what so many contemporary opera singers sound like these days I was pleasantly surprised by Ms. Gheorgiu but Mses Price and Freni are an unbeatable high standard.
angela u are magnifice nt truly when u sing and ur motions and emotionns in singing oh my god it is truly beautiful i love hearing you and watvhing u as well. a true fan thank you for every performance but puccini is my favoritte.
That's a rehearsal? Why is she watching the muzical note?while she sings? Marvelous Angela, Diva Angela, mi Amor! Te amo, Te ador, Whatever I love you paisana!
Yes, Georghiu sings the entrance aria well in the studio, however did she ever sing the role on stage??? There’s a huge difference between the studio and the stage!!
@@laisondock4999 plz excuse my vernacular..means she couldn't have sung it better. I often repeat that part just to hear the resonance and the body of that note...angela rarely goes up that high so its amazing when she does
The final note is a true disaster, too loud, heavy. In act one butterfly is innocent and delicate... miss gheorghiu scream this note to say I got it but she definitely don’t have any counter notes...

This is the very essence of what makes us human beings. I cried, Thank you 🙏 🥰

Still watching this brilliant performance bravo your a wonderful star.👏👏👏👏
I love this recording of Madama Butterfly. You are an angel Angela! Brava. xx
I need to get my hands on this CD album she sounds like she makes a wonderful heart breaking Butterfly! Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!
best performance of a soprano of this section of madama. the best choir ever. they've been selected .

Robert Watson ,
I gotta disagree on that... Even though I love Both Freni and Angela.... Nobody compares to Callas!
Nobody hits this D Flat like her. ;)
Of course Leontyne Price!
Andrey Kapluyk
Yes Andrey!!! You finally got it right!! Madam Price owns this entrance aria!!!!
@@silvanero ..I love Anna Moffo's also....
This was FANTASTIC!
beautiful!!
Perfection
Yes, second only to Freni in recorded performance. When a soprano nails this, it's transcendent! I also like Tomowa-Sintow's
Secobd to Callas not Freni. Callas became butterfly

MAGNIFICENT!!!
Diosa c voz de angel.fenotipo romantico
Perfecta❤
ME ENCANTA ANGELA, BRAVO!!!
I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GRANDE ANGELA GHEORGHIU 💝💝💝
the best Db in history
It's kinda sharp and too forte, but at least it's not sqeaky.
Although her Db is quite heroic, In the score it says decresendo....( like Anna Moffo does....)
Definitely not
Freni, Jaho?

I'm sorry, this belongs to Mirela Freni on her Karajan recoding with Pavarotti. Freni's D flat is from another universe.
You never lied..my jaw drops every time I hear it
I would argue that Leontyne Price has an even better clearer one
@@benjaminjackson9449 haven't heard it, I'm going to check her out, thanks!

Bella Angela!

Wow. 👌🏻
This was when she recorded madama butterfly with Jonas Kaufmann.

La migliore qui!
Why is she conducting?
Tony Pappano is a genius
E se em vez de bocadinhoss, apresentassem a opera completa?? 🇵🇹
Hermoso
Hermoso!!!!! Ángela mueve los brazos más que Pappano. Parece la directora de orquesta.
The Conductor, sometimes, is literally lost...😳 Marvelous Gheorghiu, anyway.

what is the difference? as you can see, the “studio” where this was recorded is an actual concert hall
@@MusicLover-kd6jt if you don’t know the difference, then I can’t help you!!

murdered the dflat = couldn't have sung it better

Amazing what some people can do or say in order to appear knowledgeable or interesting....

Db nice, but it needs to be more delicate.
Nooooo
The final note is a true disaster, too loud, heavy. In act one butterfly is innocent and delicate... miss gheorghiu scream this note to say I got it but she definitely don’t have any counter notes...
I don’t agree ; up until then she is delicate and diffident then on beholding Pinkerton her top note reveals her joy and submission.
Beautiful but she's all wrong for Butterfly
How?
The last high note is off key.
To your ears , maybe ; certainly not to mine.
@@davidallen508I take it back - just the very start of the high D seems a bit off - but she instantly climbs to the perfect note.
