A COUGAR?! Hoq LUCKY for you! I was beset by a whole pack of wolves (FIVE), a cougar, AND a bear and was feeling VERY good about the challenge because Arthur (Red Chestnut Arabian) did NOT buck me off, but got into Blackwater without a challenge update so it still affected the time. Very next attempt a train met me on Bards Crossing! Arthur instant death!
I've tried this about 5 times now... I didn't realize I had to avoid water the first time... hit trees... been attacked by gangs... train killed me and my horse when crossing the railroad bridge... I suppose a cougar or pack of wolves will be next.
@@coyotegaming4027 Um anyone who played the game know that a pack of wolves are easy to deal with while one cougar can take you down easily if you let it pounce on you more than 2 times, especially since 9 out of 10 it will force your horse to buck you off. Even in story mode you can easily use deadeye and demolished the “pack of wolves” with no ease if it somehow that difficult to kill a couple wolves
@@aquaxyston You maybe missed that it wasn't a "couple of wolves" but a complete pack of FIVE I had to deal with , and yes, from horseback. And a cougar, still not difficult, shot from horseback with Deadeye, and a Grizzly, even that not too hard to deal with from a large rock and a Rolling Block rifle, except all of this slowed me down enough to fail the challenge.. All of these predators only goal is to see you DIE! I was making the comment that a single cougar maybe should not have caused a challenge failure. ON that run I got hit by every dangerous predator at least once barring the Panther, (wrong area for that) Black Bears will almost ALWAYS run FROM you, where a Grizzly wants you dead!
Too bad, man. In one of my attempts, I was about to get to near by Strawberry when I dashed head on with an npc on horse so hard that the npc died and I had to revive my horse and lost it.
After several failed attempts of me not having the route charted out, taking bad paths, and falling off my horse, I finally had a good run and some bastard ran his horse into me, throwing me off and causing the run to fail. None of his friends survived
I know I'm late for the party but while trying to get this, a train hit me and my horse, I got attacked by wolves two times, Murfrees came after me and shot me so my horse bucked me off and it started to rain.. God just decided I am not allowed to do this shit lololol thought I might make someone's days better with this 😅
The best time to do this ride as Arthur is during the availability of Javier’s mission in Blackwater. You encounter far fewer lawmen than if you do the challenge after that mission. It is practically a cakewalk. The key is still to stay off road after you get to the fork in the road between the A and the L in Tall Trees. Good luck.
Aye just to add this still works with Arthur but only if you haven’t done javier mission some reason the Pinkertons aren’t op plus invisible doesn’t seem to shoot you until you get near thieves landing.
Jesus, I reach the area right after Strawberry in 9 minutes and then no matter what I do I m getting killed/followed by lawman. Not joking, played it like 15 times with the same outcome so fuck it, I prefer playing other missions
@@LucasCipri all the time cover your face in any how, and don't take it off. If your horse gets nerveous my depredators move side to side to avoid your hourse throw you from the sadle. To insta calm your horse, just give it something to eat and you should have no problem. (Oh, and try to slow down in tricky paths, like mountains or something. Crash with a NPC in a mountain and lost it.)
Got it on my first run. I suggest using a Turkomen, Thoroughbred, or Missouri Fox Trotter. They are hearty horses, and don't tip over as easily as Arabians, and Morgans do.
Got ambushed twice😤, nearly hit by a train, attacked by bear (I think), then a pack of wolves. After attempt 3 I made it🙏. Thank you!!!! The broken bridge route didn't work for me.

If you put your marker on blackwater from van horn and follow it there's railroad tracks right by the snake looking landmark And fort brennand and follow that all the way to the flatneck railroad bridge after passing that you can take a small bridge by Briggs station up untill the dam and after that you're home free to blackwater. But I would stay on the road and not go next to the water by the dam like this dude did because someone In another comment said if you get to close to the water the game will think you touched it
The first time I did this challenge, I read it wrong and rode from Blackwater to van horn. 2nd time, got jumped by skinner brothers and my horse dipped. Just done it again,and it's not registered for some reason,I've just wasted like 45 minutes. This is the exact route I already took,I wanna fight😭

When the game says "17 minute dry dash" it must be referring to real world time, because in your video you started at 6:14 and you finished at 10:48 in game time. I have been trying to figure out how to do it in game time since each time you go to map it adds time. LOL

ARE YOU KIDDING ME, going along the long bridge to then get literally railed by a train ive already attempted this 3 times tonight maybe something else
When you reach bard's crossing, don't keep going, slow down/wait for a bit and look out for the train in the distance so you have the time to run back and wait for the train to pass. Also there's an easier route! Follow the railway track from Van Horn to Saint Denis, to Rhodes, then to Bard's Crossing, right after you crossed it, go to the beach area ( left side area below bard's crossing), and go to the very edge of the extended coastline very near blackwater (just look at the map, you'll know where it is), the game will think you're in blackwater! Following the railway track is way safer for me because you don't have to worry about stupid NPCs (well except during the Saint Denis part) Be careful for trains tho, it's pretty easy to avoid them, just ride right beside the tracks (or again, wait if it's the infamous bard's crossing train)
I tried with Arthur doing exactly this and it didn’t register… not sure if they patched it or what but.. I guess I’ll do anything new Austin related as John I guess.
Same, just tried and horse wouldn’t go onto the bridge twice and when it did it was only a short sprint so the jump fell short. I think they’ve patched it. 😢
Does it matter if your horse runs into stuff and throws you off? I thought it did. But I've attempted this challenge four times and every single time my horse has thrown itself into a tree, thrown itself into the back of an abandoned wagon, or thrown itself into a fence. I could have sworn that makes this challenge fail but it's happened every attempt so I now ask is this challenge possible? If so, how does horse not throw itself into stuff randomly? Otherwise I'm lost on how to complete this

On my 4th try I had a perfect run. And then 10 yards outside of Blackwater a stagecoach pushes me into a rock. I nearly broke my TV lol
Let me just mention that if you fall off a horse, you gonna have to start again
...or if you accidently hit the button to get off your horse when trying to hit the button to complement it... yeah, personal experience...

I was just outside Blackwater before some idiots in a cart hit my horse and somehow killed it.

Yep it's real time, it takes very long to finish, that's why it's one of the hardest achievements I've ever seen :D

No the rose gray Arabian has full health and stamina when you bond with it enough
