I’m white and another thing that angers me is when people call all whites “colonizers”.
My dad’s ancestors were evicted from Scotland during The Clearances, and were sent to Nova Scotia. Their homes were burned down if they refused to leave voluntarily.
My mom’s parents and older brother left their farm in southern Italy because they became impoverished by crazy tax increases (due to socialism/fascism) and the Mafia took what was left. Oh and three of their four children had recently died of malaria. So they boarded steamships, traveling in steerage. Sleeping on the floor. No mattresses. A small thin blanket they rolled up and used as a pillow. All they had to eat and drink were leftover bread rolls, soup and tea. Their journey to America took 13 days.
    So don’t call them “colonizers”.

I remember several years ago, Oprah came out calling white people racist and wanted every white person on her show to appologize. The white people appolized, the black people on the show kept pushing how racist whites were. Oprah was so proud of herself. It was so sick to watch. Now Obama has produced a Netflix movie that a scene in the movie is "Don't trust white people."

While I don’t think the framing of Julia Roberts character as a typical “white” attitude, the character that said that line, said it in contextual response to Julia Robert’s character. The thing is that Julia Robert’s character didn’t necessarily dislike black people, she disliked people in general.
I’m not excusing racism against anyone, but I also don’t like things taken out of context. Trump is a constant victim of this practice, but there are all sorts of people who get denigrated because their comments are taken out of context.

@@zinhlekheswa5237 I personally have witnessed people of one "race" acting hatefully to person(s) of another "race." It happens both ways but I understand, because I've seen it, that children who are innocent are often treated harshly by authority figures of a different background. And though I am so-called white, I see whites acting this way more than others but that is by no means saying all whites do it or that no blacks do it.
I lived in Boston during the time they tried busing black students to white neighborhoods and vice versa. There were many incidences of violence but it was mostly people throwing rocks at the buses. A well known case was of a black man who was attacked at City Hall. A less reported incident was of a white man who was taking a short cut driving through a black neighborhood. His car was surrounded and he was killed. A white woman who had a black roommate ran out of gas. She took her gas can and filled it up. She was walking back to her car when she was surrounded by black teenagers. They doused her with the gasoline and she was burned to death. Another time around Halloween a young black woman was grabbed by some black adolescents, taken to the middle of a football field, raped and murdered.
One time I was walking through a black neighborhood and I heard footsteps approaching from behind me. Two guys put their hands in my pockets and took out my wallet while two others held my arms. I saw that they were all black. They looked young and did not look like tough kids. So, I asked them to give me back my I.D. and just keep the $40.00. I even offered them some of the soft drink I was carrying. They looked a little sheepish, gave me back my wallet keeping the money and they left. I looked up and saw that people were looking out the windows down at us. They saw everything but did nothing. They were black.
Just from these instances I saw that evil happens and sometimes it has to do with skin color and sometimes it doesn't.

So what is she expected to do as a 25 year old in today “culture”? Is she supposed to throw half of her body on the alter of white privilege and the other half on the alter of victimhood? No!!!!! She should be equally proud of both of her heritages!!!! She should never be taught to hate half of herself and play the victim card for the other half.
Thank goodness I won’t stand for that and neither will anyone else on my side of the family. Including those still on the Rez. We promote a victor mindset instead. We also promote a respect of self. Which means loving her white half just as much as her Native half.

I always understood from when I was little, that if you were born in a country, you would then be native to that country. If you moved there, you were simply an immigrant. Nothing wrong with that, classes on the culture when immigrating to a new country and and learning about the values that made it desirable in the first place. Is very, important. As an example of if, I immigrated to a new country, I would expect to learn about the culture, the language, the values, the history; that made me wanting to move there. I can't expect to essentially act how I was in another country, in this new country and expect it to stay the same way. Not sure if that conveys what I am trying say, but here is an analogy. You can't expect to have a recipe that makes a certain product, introduce a different recipe and expect the same product. Have a great day everybody!

However, I am very proud of being an American of Irish descent. I am first generation American so my Irish roots run deep. The Irish have a "culture". But it has nothing to do with skin color. Look all over Europe. The Germans, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Swiss, Swedish, Dutch, Austrian, and the other countries may be "white". But they are as different and diverse as anyone else. Skin color is not an indicator of how someone will think or act. More important is how and where a person grew up and what those around them acted like and believed.
There are geniuses from any and every so-called 'race.' There is also ignorance everywhere.
The worst ignorance is not to recognize that we are ALL products of Nature and we all are capable of good or evil.
We spend trillions to attack each other and the rich by and large don't want to spend a nickel to help people in need. Because of greed many suffer from lack of the basic essentials of life - security, shelter, food, clean water, health care, education, training and jobs.

One issue that I see is that there seems to be a lack of the ability to define oppression for these young adults. You can't oppress another person by simply being on the bus next to them or existing in the same space. Oppression is basically wielding power over another in an unjust or cruel way. You have to have power and authority to oppress someone, and this young man in the video has neither. It's almost like they are using the words oppress and offend interchangeably. Coca-Cola's training was the definition of oppression. Consider all the employees that were mandated to sit through a training program and see and hear themselves being described as oppressors, arrogant, ignorant. If they refused to participate or spoke out against this training they would risk their jobs and/or become targets at work. Now THAT is oppression.

They had nothing to do with slavery and colonialism, and conquering, they were the conquered. On paper, I'm just "White", so I'm placed in an "oppressors" category. Ridiculous, stupid, ignorant? Of course it is.

This is when the Democrat party says "if you vote for us, we will help you". Once the Democrats get the votes, they create conditions that causes these people to believe that they must worship the government because only government can save them. This is how the Marxists in the Democrat party will turn this into a Socialist country. The playbook is in the Communist Manifesto. And Democrats are following those rules.
"Socialism's goal is Communism". ~ Vlademere Putin

They don't realize that Socialism itself is a flawed system that is incompatible with the human condition.

80's and 90's were the best time to be students. The problem is, all this nonsense started to take shape in the 80's, hidden and unseen. It started with intersectional feminism and worked its way outwards.
Christina Hoff Sommers did a really good video on it, describing how she went to a feminist conference in the 80's. They were unified, but then the organizers started deliberately introducing intersectionalism into the groups, and pretty soon everyone was bickering and tribalizing. They started teaching it in Universities in the early 2000's, and it didn't explode out until the early 2010's. Now, it's everywhere.

I used to struggle with generational and race-based guilt, but I think I've gotten to the point where I just can't care anymore. As a white person, I'm held to an impossible standard that no one else has to meet. I can't even ask a simple question about another race or culture without racism or wilful ignorance being assumed. Why am I being punished for actions not my own? Why am I never to be given benefit of the doubt? Why must I know every nuance, slight and sensitivity of every other race and culture on the planet in order to avoid even the slightest discomfort to others while those same people can openly say whatever vileness they like of me and my race? Why am I not allowed to be proud of the accomplishments of members of my race and must instead focus only on those who have failed and the ways in which they failed? Conversely, why can I not comment on the failings of individuals and groups in other races, and instead must only ever mention their accomplishments which I must then praise to the high heavens? I just can't be bothered with it anymore. I love to recognize the accomplishments of individuals regardless of race and I will no longer hold anyone, especially those of my own race, to the impossible standards now before us. I have taken Martin Luther King Jr's message to my heart. I judge based not on the colour of one's skin, but on the content of one's character. Live and let live. It's really that simple.

One of the problems we have is we're now seeing a growing racism against white and Asians from the younger black community, and when challenged don't believe they're being racist simply because of their skin colour. This sort of attitude just adds fuel to the racism debate and doesn't nothing to change things. The other issue we have is too many people think they're being oppressed, or claim they're being appressed when reality is they just being discriminated against. It means that the word oppression is starting to lose it's meaning, same as those who say being called a derogatory name is violence towards them. I think the younger generations have become too fragile, and whilst I applaud their openness in challenging issues and trying to change things, with many being nicer individuals, a lot are extremely fragile. That problem is likely due to the way my generation and the millennial generation parented, and over protected them growing up, so now they're not really equipped to deal with society as they get older, because they're offended too easily by virtually everything.

    • @EyeSeeThruYou
      @EyeSeeThruYou 8 месяцев назад

I agree with your position with this exception: blacks are not being subjected to discrimination, much less oppression.
If anything, they have continued demanding even greater preferential treatment and gotten it via Affirmative Action law and policies for many decades, turning their complaints of supposed "structural racism" on its head since many blacktivists are demanding a steady expansion of what specifically serves their interests, regardless of the discrimination it imposes elsewhere.
I introduce the "affinity" segregation imposed in select Illinois K12 schools in 2023 as an example.
      That's not "social justice."
It's political retaliation moving towards upholding 1A for blacks but not for whites where expressed hatred, racism, and genocide by blacks is not challenged because they claim their positions "don't constitute racism because they lack political power," which has been untrue for many decades.
When DEI is imposed broadly, white employees are subjected to seminars where they are continuously accused of being racists based upon being born with their skinshade, journalists capitalize "Black" and "Latin" and "Indigenous" but decapitalize "white" for supposed "equity" to reflect politics. And *that* does exemplify institutionalized racism and social discrimination going unchallenged and unchecked.
There is a reason young white Americans are being gaslighted to accept retaliatory racism and bullying from those who claim they are "the" victims while they project their animus onto the targets of their hatred: blacks specifically want unlimited power to harm and strip their victims of social and legal recourse to resist abuse and exploitation.
The push to dehumanize white Americans is to strip them of equal rights under the law by people who are not victims in an effort to harm, "punish," and exploit those who never harmed them.
Motivations? Greed pushing for a mass transfer of wealth ("slavery reparations"), and a demand that victims be subjected to any harm inflicted without recourse, including a refusal to acknowledge hate crimes against them, including genocide.
That's where this is going, and it's not specifically your parenting style which has led down this path.
Our society has been and is being attacked by hostile regimes wishing to destroy and remove our society to impose outright authoritarianism so they can dominate societies everywhere.
Creating and stirring polarization to turn demographics groups against each other is the coward's strategy when a direct military confrontation isn't feasible.
There are many moving parts to the degredation of society by winding up the easily led as useful pawns to attack others.
This is a big picture issue with no single contributing variable pushing these trends.

We had Hispanic kids, black kids, white kids, Vietnamese kids, just about everything starting in grade school. Nobody was ever treated differently based on the color of their skin. I feel like my generation, Gen X, got it right. This recent stuff about segregated groups, calling all white people racist and oppressors, is nauseating. It’s bringing racism back and I am afraid it will create a whole new generation of racists. The black kids will hate the white kids because they’re “oppressors” and when you tell children that they are evil because of the color of their skin, they will eventually start to congregate around other whites; that will contribute to them finally admitting that “well, since they say we’re evil and racist.. let’s be evil and racist”.

I appreciate your willingness to be open-minded and honest with your opinions on these matters. The comment "all you gotta do is replace the race ur talking about with another race and if it becomes immediately offensive it's racist" also, " your race doesn't define your characteristics as a person". These statements are so true and wish more ppl would realize this. It's sad some of these ppl realize they haven't been oppressive that they can recall, but I'm white so I'm gonna just admit I may have at some point. They feel if they don't admit that, it may also offend others. Your always gonna have cruel ppl in this world that have hate in their heart towards some other race, but your avg person doesn't feel this way. We can't just change how these ppl feel, as long as they aren't actively expressing their hate for others and need to accept ppl will always have differences in opinion. If we continue to push the narrative that most ppl are "racist" even if they don't realize it and most ppl, esp if you're white are being oppressive in some way, we will continue to spread more racism and hate for others. This isn't helping any pre-existing race issues, and is increasingly creating more. We are also putting in young ppls minds how racist others are, which can create a whole new gen of hate for others, when it seemed most ppl had become more accepting than ever before in history. We are going backwards. We should work together on the very real issues that do exist and stop pushing how racist everyone else is. The more you push something in ppls minds, the more a reality it becomes. In this situation racism and division has increased by alot recently and it's very sad to see. Thank you for trying to open ppls minds and working at being a part of the solution.

The level of hatred I feel toward me, that hasn't done a dang thing to anyone, has gotten to a point that I have to agree with and take the Scott Adams approach. To just keep my distance and not be around any black folks if I don't have to. I know most are fine, just regular people trying to make it through life. But this constant hatred has geared so many more of them, along with the extreme liberal whites, to view me as an "enemy", when I personally, nor my ancestors, had anything to do with what they're constantly overhyping and complaining about. I feel like I need to duck and cover and take defense like one of these brainwashed idiots is going to attack me for no reason...ya know, how actual racist do. It's just off the charts insane that our society somehow thinks we're going to solve some small pockets of real racism, by hyping it up more and reversing it. It's just dividing us more and creating more racism than was there in the first place. It's beyond crazy. God speed dude. Keep thinking for yourself and don't ever let anyone else think for you. Skin culture doesn’t affect how you act, but culture does. An example, when I was in grad school a Moroccan man asked a male friend of mine who he should talk to about my marriage price, Moroccan man had never spoken to me ever, just attended a class with me. People of different cultures have different ideas of what I’d ok and how to treat others.

There's no reason to be proud of any race. It is just race. It is irrelevant. No one race has a universal experience, so even saying something like "black people suffered slavery" isn't true of ALL black people, it's true of those in America at a specific time but blacks in Africa didn't face that (some did but not universally) so the point is that our race doesn't even tell our history. Being proud of a national history is one thing but skin color is... melanin.

    • @yousombitch

I remember one teacher saying that a flower garden can be very pretty and yet very dull when there is only one color in the garden. But when the garden is alive with color it’s not just pretty, it’s vibrant, and alive. It’s joyous in its beauty. The same thing happens when there are shared colors around you. We all have our talents, worries, etc., and we work, play, and share together. The garden is much more alive and vibrant that way.
