It's incredible this game came out in 2008. 14 years and 2 full generations yet many games in 2022 still don't have this level of quality put into them.
MGS4 is brilliant, i guess i just like old buff men fighting on roof top. Probably why this game stay with me for so long. Main reason i got PS3 back then
Give me one metal gear game where it’s a tactical stealth and espionage game and then just flips to revengence and rules of nature starts blaring with cyborg ninjas and over the top fights.
Let's just acknowledge the fact that during the course of his duel with Vamp, Raiden: - Got his arms pinned to his back by daggers, but doubled down and used them as mounted weapons against Vamp. - Uses every single part of his body to win a fight, down to using his feet and chin - Gets mercilessly slashed by knives to the point of nearly succumbing to his wounds - Still had enough strength to pressure launch the knives back into Vamp and finish him After all that, he was still good to accompany Snake in MG Rex, AND stop Outer Haven with his bare hand.
I love how he gets pinned under a small rock and has to cut his arm off before stopping a ship thousands of times bigger than the rock he was stuck under... One handed 🙄
So basically if Morbius was good right? I remember seeing him in Spiderman 1994 animated series (obvious censorship with hand sucking life out of people but it was i guess a way for kids to see it)
This entire game is a Thank You to all MGS fans. So much coolness packed into this with Fortune’s gun, the build up to getting to pilot Rex, Raiden finally getting his revenge on Vamp. So damn cool 👌🏻

"Forgettable bosses which have no real relation to the main story." What about Ocelot? What about Vamp? The beauty and the beasts units are just the typical set of bosses. Foxhound, Dead Cells, Peace Sentinels, Cobra unit, Wind Of Destruction. They are obstacles. They have a minor relation because the story is not ABOUT them.
Vamp's Japanese voice actor is Shinya Tsukamoto, an indie film maker and Kojima's second choice who he wanted for MGS2 but had other commitments. His most notable film is "Tetsuo: The Iron Man" which is about a salaryman slowly turning into a metal machine monster. I'm bringing this up because I think he was the inspiration behind Armstrong and if you like weird movies and industrial music, I highly recommend watching it.
This just shows that MGS4 Raiden vs Vamp is on par but imagine if MGR:R Raiden with his new cyborg body he would totally cut Vamp into pieces that can’t be put back.

This is my favorite game from the PS3 era played it multiple times. And planning on giving bit another go soon . I try to replay it at least once a year or so just because everything about this game is so perfect. It truly is Legendary mgs game
The soundtrack here really did an amazing job at portraying Otacon's emotions. The callback to Sniper Wolf's theme to show how similarly he feels to that moment and the sudden shift from that theme as we get a close up of his face in slo mo to convey his acceptance of death this time. Otacon's a real G. Greatest side character ever.
Raiden with his cyborg body struggled against Vamp in the middle east and shadow moses. Solid snake was able to restrain the same vamp long enough to inject him with the Nanomachine suppressor despite having no cyborg parts.. Solid snake is clearly the strongest soldier in the metal gear lore.
Interesting how in both cases Raiden had to fight an enemy who had infused themselves with durability-enhancing nanomachines he kinda just beat them until they eventually stopped working. Kinda makes you wonder how Sam would have fought against Vamp considering that the strategy he used on Armstrong wouldn't have worked in the slightest.
Sam was too much for Raiden in his updated body that looked similar, so I think Sam is clever enough to figure out Vamp’s weaknesses too. It’s funny because watching MGS4, you’d think Raiden has to be the best out there, but there’s always someone better out there. In Raiden’s case, Jetstream Sam.
I played this game for a few weeks while staying at a friend's house. Absolutely beautiful, got me hooked on the series. Unfortunately I play on a PC so I never got to try this masterpiece ever again. Metal Gear Solid 5 was very good though.
MGS5 would've been a whole lot better if it didn't try to be a sandbox. Linear maps with MGS5's gameplay would've been amazing. I didn't like the mechanic with recruiting soldiers and equipment either, super tedious and forced.
If your PC is high enough, you should look into ps3 emulator called RPCS3. I believe the emulator received a big update earlier this year, which made MGS4 run a little bit smoother.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance ruined Raiden's character by making him a killing machine again, in other words, completely disregarding the path Raiden chose at the end of MGS4, and everything Snake told him.

I love this game for it being so dedicated to the hardcore fans, visiting Shadow Moses again, bringing back old characters but it could have been made entirely differently and not so that they focused so much on wrapping it up and tying all loose ends.

This was like 2006-07 ish so they were already doing podcasts back then, way ahead of other people before it catched on and got trendy. I loved the entire build up for this game and all the speculation - "what had happened to Raiden, we hadn't seen him since 2002, was he an enemy? Holy fuck he's a ninja just like Gray Fox you got to be kidding me. No way, Vamp is in this game!" If you watch the trailers, each and everyone one of them dropped a hint which would just shatter the MGS fanbase. I loved every second of it.
Don’t know why I start crying when Naomi dies and with her sayings like “atone our sin” and “we must not pass our sins to next generation”. In 2022, war was not glorious any more. All authoritarian must be get rid of and guilt in the past must be redeemed. While this scene shows the truth of human sufferings and abomination on rotten earth, I felt a little hope that no matter the life is, there are always devoted one like her, Snake, Raiden and Hal, who experience sufferings as human but determined to make this world peace.
It's seems that Otacon loves Naomi just like he loves Sniper Wolf and his sister. Despite the fact that Naomi is the ex-lover of Richard Ames, and Otacon as Snake says: "Pull yourself together"

This is an example of how to perfectly end a series, and Metal Gear Rising is a perfect way to continue said story.
Even by this game, there was a bunch of retcons or plot holes not adding up. Apparently Kojima wanted to quit after MGS2

When I played mgs4 in 2008, I reminisced mgs1 on ps 10 years ago, it's now another 14 years passed after mgs4.

You know, I never realized the whole "And suddenly, Snake has a gun!" Moments in the cutscenes until recently rewatching them. Like seriously, one minute he's either unarmed or just has his pistol and the next he's got a freaking railgun!
